[ In a very rare network appearance, Wen Qing shows up on the network, apparently sitting on the upper floor of the library. ]

I'm addressing those of you with knowledge of medicine or magical healing. Some of my colleagues and I are planning to undertake an eye transplant by surgery and would be grateful for further expertise.

Several months ago, a combination of medicine and magic proved very effective in healing Xue Yang so we would like to replicate this success.

OOC: This is about Xiao Xingchen's eye transplant, Wen Qing will be happy to provide further information just not sharing detailed medical information with the entire train. Willow and Ichigo are already signed up for it, others are welcome. This will mostly be handwaved but you're welcome to involve your medical characters in this endeavor and play out all things research & prep & what else at your own leisure. Of course, you are very welcome to observe, both the surgery itself and our research. I don't know yet how soon we can do the surgery, right now we will need to do what research we can do here... Mostly, we will need to coordinate and figure out what everyone on the team can contribute.

Research I can do, certainly, and information. It depends on what you're looking for. I've performed surgery before, but nothing that small and delicate...and certainly not a transplant. Have you considered immunosuppressants, or can magic account for that?

That's one of the things we will need to discuss, depending on the skills of the doctors who volunteer. I believe when this surgery was done before in my world, it relied solely on the patient's and doctor's cultivation. We don't have medicine that can serve as the kind of immunosuppressants you'd require. But if we have the choice here, I would not want it to be solely reliant on me.

You also have a patient with a strong golden core, who is able to regulate his body's responses beyond what a common person is capable of. For example, a golden core can be used to filter out toxins and speed up the healing process.

I'm firmly in the camp of needing that where my skills are concerned, so you might be better to ask some of the more magic healers if they have a workaround.

I thought we did buy a bunch of medicine, none of it was an immunosuppressant? Hm.

[ He considers this for a moment, he remembered what Haibara had asked for and Curufin said he'd order them. ]

There should be Cyclosporine in the medicine, that's meant to deal with organ rejection.

[ She presses her lips together, thoughtful. Such medication is not her strength, even after months of having read about it. As much of a marvel as the medicine on the train is, sometimes she does miss working with the supplies she was actually trained for. ]

All the better. If we do have them on board, and I'd appreciate it if you could check on that, it would be a great help. I would like to rely as little on my cultivation as possible. You said you would prefer to observe the surgery, but if you could help with such tasks, it would be a relief.

It's not a problem. I only said that because I haven't done a transplant before, it's quite specialized, and I got smacked in the head and have the lingering effects of a concussion.

[ He might have exploded a tiny bit. ]

If you're willing to check my work, I'm willing to put it in. I think I'm fine, but what do I know, I whacked my head.

[ She nods, lips pressed together a little because she wants to chide him about resting, but he is quite qualified in medicine, he can judge for himself what he can handle. ]

Of course. I'd rather not check myself, I'm sure you know more about the future's medicine than I do, but I'm sure Ichigo will volunteer to be part of this and he can work with you.

[ And then, because she can't help herself. ]

But make sure you get enough rest.

I can't complain, I'm a workaholic and a doctor, I make a terrible patient.

[ At least he's self-aware of that, but that didn't mean he was going to change his mind on it. ]

I have yet to meet a doctor who makes for a good patient... myself included.
