How quickly the months fly, do they not? And here we are once again, with another mission and another puzzle.

We're set for a jungle, this time. Something... immediate, I think. A new problem, though no less destructive for it. One that brings a sudden blast of fire and pain to the world.

[Sighing]

If anyone cares to speculate further at this hour, I'll be making myself a cup of tea in the dining carriage. And if that doesn't work... well. We'll see if we reach that point.

We're in the same boat when it comes to that, trust me.

[While there were a few among them who'd be interested in just letting a mission go to pieces, most weren't the type.]

And, even with what I tried a while back - it was at a platform, but there were still risks. What if I had broken something?

[She tilts her head to the side, considering the issue]

I would think the train would have precautions built in against that sort of thing. Of course, that would hold for several other events on the train as well.

[And the train certainly hasn't prevented them from experiencing hallucinatory storms or anything else, has it?]

Just because it's got some defenses, doesn't make it infallible.

[Though speaking specifically of the voidstorm... it could protect them from dying in the void, but not from how it affected their brains.

Though maybe the lack of curtains was a design flaw.]

Still, no idea what the priorities are for people who build voidcraft. We could be picking up on things they missed, or risks they never eradicated completely.

[Zelda nods, acknowledging the point.]

My actual thought wasn't that we could refuse to enter the train... it was that we could refuse to leave it on an assigned mission.

[She closes her eyes.]

Unconscionable, of course. But I'm having no more luck than you in coming up with alternatives. In fact, you're likely better at it.

[Nita gives a wry smile.]

I was thinking more of 'outright sabotage' rather than doing nothing, but - they tend to amount to the same thing in the end, don't they?

[Never underestimate how dark Nita can get, folks!]

Or- if there's people to save, we move them, but not to their designated safety center or wherever. Try to solve the problem, without doing what we're told to do. Would that even count?

[she leans back, taking a sip of her own tea as she thinks.]

I'm not sure we could do a great deal without at least cooperating to some degree. And I've no wish to revolt in a way which harms civilians.

[Even if- and Zelda knows this could be the case- that might be the only way to possess leverage over the train. It's cruel.]

[Nita sighs again, trying to let a little more warmth seep into her fingers.]

Honestly? Me either. But the people here count as civilians, too.

[Or a lot of them do, anyway; some, like her and Zelda, get chosen or set apart by certain powers. Others just plain don't have a choice.]
