So! [Wester claps their hands together on the screen, massive bags under their eyes but clearly buzzing with excitement.] You may have noticed that I've been... practically nonexistent on the train these past few weeks. Don't worry, I'm fine.
Seriously. I'm planning on crashing out for like, a solid forty-eight hours in a bit, don't worry about how much sleep I've been getting.
Anyways, the reason why I've been absent for the past bit is... [they rummage around offscreen and triumphantly retriever a bulging binder labeled "MONSTER WORLD: COMPLETE SECOND EDITION,"] this! I've been hand-transcribing all the rules for a tabletop game from my homeworld from memory.
...and making some errata.
...and some other major rules changes too, seriously a lot of this system does not enable proper roleplay at all in favor a pure dungeon crawl experience and that just makes things less fun, you know?
...and writing up my campaign.
Which, uh. Brings me to my main point! If anybody wants to play around with yours truly as the Dark Master, go ahead and hit this post up. I'm probably going to be taking like... six people max per session, but I can definitely run concurrent campaigns for everybody. I need something to keep me occupied during off days, right?
Haha.
Anyways so what's been happening on the train recently because I remember exactly NOTHING because I was too absorbed in this.

Yet.]
I don't recommend genuinely sleeping for that long after this, but more importantly just how long were you awake!?
[TOO LATE FOR NO WORRIES! SHE WORRIES!]

That's fairly concerning...are you certain you're alright? Is there anything you can use to give yourself a check up in medical? I'm not certain they have that technology on board...

You realize that makes things more concerning I hope?! How are you certain there were no consequences of that..!

I'm all here, aren't I?
And anyways, it was mostly just my memories that got messed with. Ish. Eh, all that virtual world stuff was super complicated.

The matter of entering one's soul is treated with a good deal of care and severity where I came from- to that end, my title is known as 'Doctor', as with others in my field. If there's no consent, the victim is so far gone that dire intervention becomes necessary. And to that end in itself, one would be trained to take great care.
Regardless, I do hope you're in as fair condition as you think, as it really doesn't sound good at all... particularly not if a ghost nearly got trapped in there at another point. I'm quite surprised that in itself didn't almost kill you.

....what uh.
What kinda changes...
[He may not have had a great time last time, but hey, he was set to start up on Alola and then he was here! So.]

More seriously, one of the biggest changes I made is making combat way less explosive and chance-based. Just one Black Mage could annihilate a lot of Dark Master Avatars with the right rolls in the first few levels which, you know, is not ideal in most cases?
no subject
Anyway, I wound up on th' platform b'fore I could start a run back on Alola, so sign me up I guess! ...Maybe I c'n try somethin' w' more stuff to it this time even...

Not uh, like las' time, when I started grabbin' items b'fore someone explained th' budget bit...
[whhhhhoops.]

...or not since, you know, he was trying to keep a low profile that early, but still.

...I swear, he's a REALLY good DM if you get him to, you know, not do that though-

[ He thinks a moment, but chooses not to mention that Atem was one of them. ]
But other than that, everything's perfect.

[Beat.]
That sounds! Like it was unpleasant!
[They may feel slightly guilty for missing that.]

[ Snort. ]
Actually, do you think I could see your deck one more time? I'm looking for Halloween decorations for Della, and you have a deck full of them.
no subject
OH, I would ADORE that!

[ And one last thing... ]
And she's petitioning the train to give us costumes if you want to try one out. No guarantee on taste or quality.
no subject
...too soon? Sorry.
no subject
Yes. And yes.

It's a game you play on a table, right?

How does that sound?

As for what was happening while you were asleep, Kaiba's already touched on it. The train warned us that we were about to have a Void storm, and that it's effects would be unpredictable. It didn't tell us about the ghosts: the phantoms of departed passengers that we knew, and of passengers from long ago at the beginning of the Voidtrecker's journey. If we came into contact with them, they drained our energies. These were the ghosts inside the train. The ones outside the windows of the train were the ghosts of people we knew and loved from our own worlds. We were all surprised, to say the least! Some of us are still recovering.
And as for this tabletop game, I don't know anything about such games. The only games we Elves played on top of a table were drinking games. [ Wry laugh. ] But I might be interested.

Please define what you consider to be proper roleplaying. I can think of at least three broad definitions, all mutually incompatible. And those are the ones that make sense.

[siiiiigh]
What’s it about, what do the characters do, what do the players do?

Honestly, it's a relic from the super early wargame-esque era of TTRPGs, but my DM back home put a lot of interesting social and plot-focused stuff in it and I wanted to try and find a way to more neatly integrate that into the game itself as a gift to him once I get back, you know?
