Hello, everyone!

[ Mami's standing at the ICP in the kitchen, and behind her it's easy to see that she's laid out some items on the counter. ]

The month's more than halfway over, and I realized we haven't taken full advantage of one of our culinary options this month! We have all the ingredients needed to make pizza!

[ Jazz hands. As a lover of all Italian cuisine...the basics are up there too! She then opens her notebook, and holds up a drawing she's done of a basic cheese pizza. ]

The best things about pizza are that it's easy to make, easy to eat, and customizable! We don't have the ingredients for every type of pizza under the sun, but there are lots of options! I've made a toppings bar and laid out some crusts if anyone wants to try it with me, and there's both marinara sauce and white sauce.

[ She holds up some of the toppings she's sliced: ham, bacon, onions, peppers, diced tomato, shrimp, bamboo shoots, various shredded cheeses...and pineapple. ]

I hope to see you! And...there are a few dear friends I'd like to see afterward, too.

[ Mami turns to him, all smiles. She earnestly believes it will be fine. ]

That's why I have all this dough made! So everyone can make theirs the way they like.

Kid, I am certain people take this way too seriously. The existence of pineapple alone is enough to start a full-scale war.

Oh, I'm not afraid of war. I'll stop anyone who misbehaves too much!

The point is to exchange cultures. I'm from Japan, I know we've made different pizzas than Italy, or America...I wanted to represent as many choices as I could find ingredients for!

[fionnuisce]

...Well, if you say so. Your imminent battlefield and all.

[He leaned back against the counter, right hand on a silver-handled cane while the other held a coffee cup. Might as well see how this went.]

Haven't been to Japan in a while, myself.

Ah, then you travel often?

I never had the chance. Until...well, this.

[ She'll neaten up her toppings bar, giving him plenty of room to enjoy coffee before anyone arrives. ]

Often? No, not really. I'm a teacher at a university in London, that trip was back when I was nineteen.

Oh! I always wanted to see London...

[ She's very curious now. ]

What did you teach?

[well, secret's out, fuck it.]

I teach alchemy in the Modern Magecraft Theories department.

[magicurls]

Oh!

That's really something. I'm...well, I know a little magic. It's not always that useful, but it'll help me keep things organized today, I think.

I'm sorry about cutting your relaxation time short like this.

Hell, are you kidding? This is the most relaxed I've been in almost a decade, things at the Clock Tower are insane on a daily basis. What kind of magecraft do you specialize in?

[magicurls]

I'm glad. And well...ribbons.

[ She waves her hand to demonstrate, a few yellow ribbons springing forth from her ring. They neatly pick up a dustpan and brush and sweep the table. ]

I have more offensive abilities too, but this is all I use onboard.

[fionnuisce]

...Huh.

[He set the coffee aside and brought a hand to his mouth in thought, watching the ribbons closely.]

That's a new one. I know of alchemical thaumaturgy that does something similar, but not with anything like cloth.

[magicurls]

Mm. I can build bridges or barriers with it, or swing from rafters. It's really versatile!

[ She finishes sweeping and dismisses them. ]

Alchemy is...transformation of matter, right?

[fionnuisce]

Put simply, yeah. It's a field with a wide range of specialties, but what you're saying is more or less what I utilize myself. You can think of it as a form of chemistry in a sense.

[magicurls]

Oh! That's really exciting.

Can anyone learn, or do they need to have the gift?

[fionnuisce]

Eh...there's no real easy answer for that. Unfortunately, one either is or is not born with the ability to use magecraft--but, among the former most anyone can improve or sharpen those skills through effort.

[magicurls]

Ah. Like anything else...

Well that's all right. We all have our own abilities, and some can be taught. Like aim...I'm always working on that one!
