"'babe'?" Trunks is amused more than anything by the nickname. He's not sure if he likes the name itself, but he definitely likes the affection behind it.

Cassie's feet shuffle a little beneath her, showing a little shyness for one.

"I mean, yeah? You are my boyfriend. Would you rather I stopped?"

Okay. Shy-Cassie was adorable and now Trunks fully understood why she liked teasing him so much. But rather than teasing her in turn, he just reached out with his hands and cupped her face softly. Leaning his forehead against hers.

"I don't mind. This is all just still new to me, remember? I spent my adolescence shoving any thoughts about dating or romance aside in favor of training and wanting to fight the androids. Or recovering from fighting them, and trying to protect everyone else."

Leaning in and stealing a quick kiss too, before he continued softly. "I love the affection of it."

The confidence returns to Cassie's face as he touches it, as though they'd granted her a burst of energy. She pulls away from the kiss with a soft, warm smile.

"Well, I'll keep doing it, then."

The corners of her lips turn down slightly.

"Awkward time for it, but you wouldn't mind helping me out with some work stuff, would you, babe?"

"Depends." Trunks replies, but he's smiling. "I learned early on not to blindly agree. Mom was mad when I learned that lesson too." But it wasn't a no.

Still close, and still cupping her face gently in affection.

Her voice lowers, her tone remaining affectionate.

"Well, it wouldn't be much. I may need to temporarily deputize you, though."

Beat.

"I've decided I've got the authority to do that."

"Still depends, Cas." Trunks' tone was also affectionate. "Deputize me for what?"

"Don't know if you heard that little outburst on the comm," Cassie says, "but there's someone on the train who needs to be brought into compliance with the weapons policy. I'm not gonna be too harsh with him, and I'm pretty sure I could take him if he decides to start something, but it'd be nice to have backup."

"I heard." Trunks confirmed, thumbs brushing her cheeks softly. "Honestly? I don't know the guy except for battling with him once as an ally, but he didn't seem to be that reactionary." Stealing one more kiss, before pulling back. Only to reach for her hand and twine their fingers.

"How formal and recognized and enforced are things like the role of quartermaster? I know there's supposed to be a council."

"Well, the council's named me and my mom," Cassie says. "I've decided the role is as formal as I choose it to be. And since we're talking about deadly weapons, I'm taking it seriously."

She brushes her thumb against his and smiles.

"Hopefully I'll be able to talk sense to him and you won't have to do much."

"Aside from his first outburst, maybe he's just acting contrary for a reason." Something to keep in mind, and maybe help her talk sense into him.

"To be honest, I can understand being ornery about being stuck here," Cassie says. "But this is for the safety of everybody on the train. Hopefully I can convey that idea without having to literally pound it into him."

"Good. I hope you can too, because I'm pretty sure you could pound him." Trunks squeezed her hand. "And if you really want me there, I'll be there and you know it. Deputy or not. Just because you can kick butt enough on your own doesn't mean I'm not going to be there to either kick it with you or help if you need it."

"'Cause there's no kill quite like overkill."

"Normally I agree, but let's try to not go into this looking for a fight? We all have to exist in this space that isn't very big, after all."

"Agreed. There's no rush, either, so we can go whenever you're ready."

"That does remind me though, Quartermaster Cage. I also have armor, although it's now in one of the lockers." Since she was keeping track of weapons, she might also be keeping track of armor. "Modified and updated saiyan-based armor my mother made for some of us. Bodysuit, breastplate, boots, and gloves."

"Ooh, nice," Cassie says. "I'll make a note of that.

"And maybe get some for myself once I've saved some points up. I don't need a gun quite as much as I used to."

"You haven't even seen it yet, Cas." Trunks grinned. "But it is pretty awesome. Mom reverse engineered and improved Father's as the template."

"Honestly, it's space tech that's been spruced up by a woman who invented a dang time machine," Cassie says. "Pretty sure that's enough to let me know it's some good shit you're working with."

Beat.

"Wouldn't mind seeing you in it, though."

He was pleased; he only blushed a little bit. "I mean, the mom who made it isn't the same person who made the time machine. But she is, so to speak--it's that whole different timeline's things."

"Right. Time travel. And the assorted fuckery thereof. Still, you know that she could have."

"True." He mumbled, still a little bashful and pleased that she wanted to see him in the armor. "I'll definitely show you sometime though. I think you'll like it, from a defensive standpoint too."

"Definitely. Let me know when you're ready to get to work, too."
