I've mentioned this before, but we've gotten enough new people since then that I dare say it's worth repeating.

I am a wizard. That means that I have absolutely no inherited magical talent, but that I can still manipulate ambient magical energy in the environment through carefully calculated understanding of how it behaves when it interacts with a living person.

The practical upshot of this is that not only can I cast spells, but I can teach anyone else how to cast spells. It doesn't require you to be born with power, just to be able to use your mind. And to be able to do a lot of math.

Since we constantly find ourselves in increasingly bizarre situations (though honestly compared to some of the places we've been, that last world felt positively homey.), I imagine it can only be to our benefit to expand our skillsets as much as possible. I've never felt very comfortable with the idea of direct face to face violence, but I've still been doing my best to learn from Monsieur Rieper's lessons, for example.

So what I'm getting at is, if anyone feels confident in their mathematics skills, I would be willing to teach them how to be a wizard. And if anyone ISN'T confident in their mathematics skills, I can also be a passable math tutor until you reach such a point that you are. It's not EASY by any stretch of the imagination, but it is achievable by anyone who is willing to put the work in.

I believe I have detected an inconsistency in your statements! If your foundation of understanding is based on the interaction of an ambient energy field with a body that is both organic and living, you could not teach "anyone" how to perform magic. Some of us are omnics!

Actually, in theory, being an organic being is not a prerequisite to being a wizard. Perhaps "animate" might be a better word.

All things that move have an odic field. A sort of energy field that is almost entirely intangible but that reacts strongly with magic. If I so much as throw a ball through the air, it starts to form one, though it is very rudimentary and quickly dissipates. But a person, whatever they happen to be made of, is still constantly moving and thinking and making decisions. The odic field builds up over the course of your life until it is so strong that it remains even if the body it is attached to get damaged.

My body does not have a left arm, but my odic field does, so I was able to attach it to this mechanical arm and so move it about as if it were part of me, even though I can take it off if I so please.

The tetrapartite soul of Mundane religion must be describing the physical components of magic and of consciousness. These... may be useful concepts for your work. And they certainly are of mine.

As an aside, Orisa, this would mean that you would be accounted a soul on Mundus. You have a personality; that’s Aura. Reason: that’s Gnosis. Mobility under your own power, piezoelectric muscles; that’s Anima. And you can definitely access and control power flows, the Pneuma.

I am curious about the implications of an ambient energy field that interacts primarily with kinetic energy. Perhaps this is an underlying fundamental force that contributes to the unified field equation by explaining gravity!

I didn't doubt it, but it's nice to have scientific proof! So to speak.

Hmn. That's worth looking into, especially since my most basic attack spell is a kinetic energy bolt. I suspect that whoever made my avatar cheated, but it's a good angle for how they cheated... if you don't mind my asking, what do you use for motivic power and energy generation?

My generator utilizes fusion power. My internal mechanisms utilize servomotors for physical connections and electrosolidomagnetic joints for overall integrity and primary motive force.

It's a big discovery, yes. One I am still working out the exact ramifications of. But to say it interacts primarily with kinetic energy would be an oversimplification. The Odic field seems to be generated almost as much from conscious thought as it is from simple motion. That which DECIDES to move has a much stronger field than that which simply moves because an outside force acted on it.

Probably not, but I've only figured out how to work it at one level of separation, if I follow what you mean.

That...is actually a good question, if I follow you correctly. Such a situation would never occur where I came from. That kind of technology didn't exist.

What if you used your magic to remotely control an object? Or even a person?
