nutkrusher: (Let's Get Down to Business)

12th Horseshoe - Video

[Her expression is a stoic mask - practiced, commanding attention and respect. She's had years to practice her war face. Only the people on the train who know her particularly well might be able to detect the concern and worry behind it.]

So, I'm about to put in a feedback request to add a new car to this train. They've got us doing some pretty demanding and physical stuff here, and I think we need more help on the therapy end. I'm proposing that we add a therapy and relaxation car to this train.

I'd want it to include at least one hot tub - probably more - along with a cold tub for helping with recovery from injury and soreness. It's the kinda thing professional sports teams have in their clubhouse. The hot tubs could be used for people who just want to unwind, but priority would be given for people recovering from injury or trauma. Maybe throw in a massage table if there's room.

Let me know if this sounds like a good idea to you, or if you have any objections or additions before I submit my request.

Well, you won't find any objections here.

[Nita's rested, by this point, but she knows quite a few on the train who aren't, so the offer stands to her quite nicely.]

I'll second your request; though, would this just be about physical therapy? Granted, I don't think we have any certified psychology practitionists on this train yet.

[Nita nods; Cassie's preaching to the choir on that respect.]

Given how many people we've lost, and even the situations we're dealing with in our respective homes - seems pretty overdue an arrangement.

Think I spotted some books on the matter in the medbay; not sure if physiotherapy exercises are there too, but they'd be good to have either way for sure.

You've got it.

[Nita doesn't quite salute, but the affirming gesture she makes comes close.

Most of the healer types aren't missing, thank Powers...]

Don't be surprised if they reply to this post themselves, though; they could use the break as much as the rest of us.

[Never mind that Nita's not exactly a slouch in that department - it wasn't as if she had the formal schooling!]

What an absolutely delightful idea. After a few days of tramping about the wilderness, hunting golems, some form of bathing besides those cramped showers would be heavenly!
les_magique: (There's a perfectly good explanation)

[personal profile] les_magique 2020-09-27 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
That sound uncomfortable, honestly.
les_magique: (I might be out of spells right now)

[personal profile] les_magique 2020-09-27 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
I imagine so! If only from the relief at not being submerged in ice water!
les_magique: (We did it!)

[personal profile] les_magique 2020-09-27 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Fascinating!

I can't say I'd describe myself as a soldier or athlete, so I will trust your judgement on this matter.

I'll support you on this one. Do you want people to make separate requests of the train, just to make it clear that your idea has support?
so_dark_a_road: (these are my brass knuckles)

[personal profile] so_dark_a_road 2020-10-01 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, it's done! I think it might help.

You're welcome, and best of luck!

I'm not going to object to more places on the train where I don't have to keep up wizardries to be comfortable. But, yes, I'm willing to yield use for people who need it for recovery purposes.

[personal profile] blue_ice 2020-09-25 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Has it listened to these requests in the past? Not that I object...but it did offer a pool as an option before. And that's almost close enough.
blue_ice: (tired)

[personal profile] blue_ice 2020-09-25 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Understandable.

But I'll put a voice in if it will help. But watch it come without water access, like the library came without books.

Mm. The physical therapy angle is good. We can't constantly be sent on dangerous missions and have the train not expect injuries to pile up.

I’ll nth agreement on the benefits of hot and cold baths.

If we have specific input on what else a physiotherapy room might have, massage tables or chairs might be worth including - at least two magical healers of my acquaintance were also literally masseuses, and didn’t always need to pour magical energy into healing.
fun_thementalist: (happy song)

[personal profile] fun_thementalist 2020-09-28 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be entirely honest - this sounds like the best idea.

In fact! If you believe that more people calling for the same suggestion might increase the likelihood of it ... ah, coming into being ...

[ Gen very whole-heartedly volunteers to campaign for hot tubs and relaxing. ]
fun_thementalist: (swindle~!)

[personal profile] fun_thementalist 2020-09-28 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a place we can leave suggestions, correct? I'll put my own note in.

I'm surprised no-one else had thought of this idea yet, I admit. If we're constantly traveling or on missions - think of the stress we're under! A bit of R&R would be just what the doctor would order.

Uh. If we had any.
fun_thementalist: (allow me to explain!)

[personal profile] fun_thementalist 2020-09-28 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Incredibly useful, I fear. And I hope that I'll never need to use a relaxation car for that kind of reason.

But burn-out can be just as dangerous! People aren't designed to live a life under constant stress, it does things to our minds. Giving people who feel that psychological burden a relief is just as important.
fun_thementalist: (see what you did there)

[personal profile] fun_thementalist 2020-09-28 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I do hope it's not because you're nursing an old injury, my dear. This train's confined quarters is trying enough without managing such concerns, I can only imagine.
fun_thementalist: (swindle~!)

[personal profile] fun_thementalist 2020-09-28 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair enough! You'll forgive me if I overstepped? I hadn't meant to pry.
fun_thementalist: (see what you did there)

[personal profile] fun_thementalist 2020-09-28 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll do that right away. Thank you again for the idea, my dear. My name is Gen Asagiri - it's a pleasure meeting you.
