Grasshopper Day 20; Video

[Rapunzel was sitting on her bed with a paintbrush in hand, adding the finishing touches to a figure. For those who knew Rapunzel well enough might be able to see a painting of them as around the figured she painted a border and everyone seemed happy.

Soon she placed the brush down and looked over.]

There... I figured I would use this as an example of my work. I offered a while back to paint for those who wanted it and now I have everything I need I'll be more than happy to start that off. I am also offering lessons for those who might want to learn.

[She paused for a moment as Pascal her little chameleon friend went and patted her shoulder.]

It's not much but... If someone enjoys painting by the end of it, I guess that will be my contribution to the train, right? Not much else I can do with my hair the way it is now after all. Just let me know.

[He nods.]

It may be by some means less obvious, then. My apologies for perhaps making this all seem more convoluted.

[He prefers helping people solve problems, not adding more layers to them!]

[Webmind nods.]

That is true. If they were, perhaps we would not be needed on this train at all - the worlds we assist could be helped in a more straightforward manner.

[A nod.]

You are not alone in that, either. Limited in use as my own specialty has been; even on Terra, I did not have much of an advantage in interacting with the technology.

[A nod.]

We were able to provide aid with our own lights in the final battle, as I recall, though I was more help building them than moving them.

[Webmind can't sigh, but he looks a touch disappointed as he remembers:]

I was not much help in understanding the devices in the lab, either; though with teamwork we were still able to learn much.

Only the Terrans' history with regards to their search for extrasolar life - the information regarding pollution on the planet did not turn out to be relevant at all.

Apparently the monsters we fought came from something answering a signal the Terrans sent out.

[Not even necessarily 'someone' - it wasn't as if there was a return address!]

[So in a way, it was the Terrans' fault, with the Gry paying the price...

Fortunately that part had been averted, but all the same...]

And the Terrans had made contact with other, presumably less-hostile species as well. Certainly no space vagabonds.

[Sad indeed.]

Quite.
