[Senku is the kind of person that people might've seen around, but he's a quiet guy who's often got a lot on his mind, and at the moment the mystery of the train appears to be going nowhere. He can't sit that idly by though, so he sets some of his brain power on a more personal mystery.]

I've scoured the library, such as it is, for a book on advanced or complex mathematics, so I figured I would ask if that's something someone has on hand and I just missed it.

[He doesn't have any points to request books as of yet.]

Specifically, I'm looking to refresh my knowledge of knot theory calculations. If you can help, let me know. I can certainly repay any favours in the future.

My creation was more of an accident, you are correct.

It is quite impressive that I am able to inhabit this form stably at all, though I expect I won't be able to procure another easily for proper study.

That has always been the risk once humanity began experimenting with synthetic intelligence. I've worked on some AI programming with Byakuya, but it wasn't nearly as sophisticated as what you must have going on.

You should consider backing yourself up then, just in case, so that a replacement body could be built in the worst case scenario. Assuming of course, you are some kind of data, and a robot-like body would suffice.

I'm afraid I can't back myself up on this network, but it is one of my many projects.

If I were still a distributed intelligence, of course, backing up would be nigh-impossible.

That's true, the amount of data spread around the world wide web would be too much to contain.

I don't necessarily mean the network, something a little lower tech than that, maybe like a USB stick? Then you'd need to have someone you trust hold onto it.

Assuming you could get data storage. The problem with backing something up to the network is having people with hacking skills and potentially less than honourable intentions.

Hm, that is a possibility, much as it would mean compiling down further.

And this network does not have much in the way of a 'downloading' feature to begin with.

The SCAs are capable of memory storage, however.

As an alternative, I have seen people order regular computers through the shop menu. Certainly not enough for a separate network, but the idea is there.]

Something to consider, at any rate. I don't have any points so I can't order anything at the moment. Well. A snack. I can live without those, I have so far.

Depends on the computer's specs, really. Some might not be much better than the USB.

Indeed. We may have to ask around; there are some worlds with quite [~~improbably~~] powerful technology that could do the trick, assuming anyone on the train is from such a world...

Sorry, any technological advancement past 2019 in my time is going to be beyond my scope for the time being, aside from any theories I was cooking up at the time. If you need anything within that limitation, I'm all ears.

It's very behind the times for me so to speak, since the date where I live is far beyond that, it's just that technology arrested on June 3rd, 2019.

[He snorted lightly.]

Less a project, more a small annoyance. After running around for years in natural leather, the weird synthetic clothes are an irritation, a minor one at that.

I'll either get used to it, or get something else. It's not much of a priority.
