VIDEO - GRASSHOPPER DAY 16 (LATE)

[It appears that someone's making good use of the ICP for the Garden Carriage- at the very least it's easier than trying to use any communication off something from his wrist. As it stands- Katsuya grins, something silvery dangling around his neck quite obviously against the blue of his sweater.]

Hey! Turns out, I was able t' get another 'f my team here, [he cheers.] Order instruction's make me figure I won' be able t' get anyone else but...I figure tha's f'r th' best. Bit big f'r th' train, [he remarks with a shrug. Stepping slightly out of view so that the ICP can display the rest of the immediate area, he continues.]

But here she is! Amar!

['Amar' no doubt refers to the extremely round little sheep plodding around near the sand. Smaller than even Katsuya's relatively miniscule pony, who seems to be watching as well, the 13 pound ball of wool abruptly tucks her legs in to roll a bit down the path before stopping to bleat.]

Amar's m' wooloo- she's abou' 's friendly as Kaseri, so if y' see 'er around, don' feel shy, go on an' pet her! She's as soft as a pillow!

[ He easily believes it, which is the scariest thing. He clutches at his locket, thinking back on just how far gone he was, every mistake he made... ]

I would've done worse if I wasn't stopped...I can only imagine how she feels. You're all...more forgiving than I would expect.

[Amar gives a quiet bleat- Katsuya slowly loosens his grip, realizing how tightly he was holding on.]

Hard not t' be, when y' know 'nough. ...Fact is, it's like y' say. She's beatin' herself enough already. Said it back in th' game carriage righ'?

...Back in th' Kingdom, on tha' tower... [Katsuya looks up, eyes still shadowed but still able to meet with Kaiba's own.] ...Tha' wasn' a bluff. Y' pay attention t' th' obvious, an' tha' much becomes clear.

[ He flinches at that memory: at the futility of his extreme actions, at how much he hurt Yugi, and at the feeling of Jou seeing right through him. ]

I caused Yugi and Atem unnecessary delay on their way to be the heroes, you mean. And you, I suppose.

[ He snorts. ]

Anyway...thanks. For looking out for Mokuba.

Psh! Don' dress it up, we both know Pegasus put y' up to it, [he remarks darkly.] I'd bet he r'fused t' let y' in- not tha' hard t' manage, th' way he had th' lock set up...an' w'th all th' legal bullcrap tha' was probably involved, I'd bet gettin' any further wasn' possible otherwise.

Might not know th' details, but I'd bet money at leas'.

[He manages a smile, all the same.] ...He's a good kid. Been through a lot, an' I'm glad he got 's sister back. Brother, in yer case.

[ He simply nods, then stretches, gently helping Kaseri up. ]

Should I meet your new friend, then?

Heh- sure, go ahead, we c'n trade, [He offers, gently letting the wooloo roll over. The sheep bleats rather happily as it comes to a stop.]

[ Kaiba watches as Kaseri happily trots back into place, and Amar rolls until she bumps into his ankles, bouncing off and bleating. Cute. He crouches in front of her at a safe distance, offering his hand first, then petting if she feels safe. ]

...maybe I shouldn't have worn black today. Heh. Hi, Amar.

[ So fluffy. ]

Again, interesting name choice. Did you have an inspiration?

Uhhh...not really I guess, [he answers honestly.] Jus' means 'wool'. Y' don' have t' worry abou' gettin' her hair on y' though, sheep don' really shed, 's part 'f why you gotta shear 'm so much.

[ He continues to pet her and she bleats. Cute. He smiles a little. ]

Were you able to get shears from the shop?

Nah, not wooly. 'Wool'. Jus' wool.

Anyway, she'll be good f'r a while, so I c'n hold off 'till I got 'm again. Figured what I got so far would be more importan', [He admits with a shrug. Perhaps something that makes sense with the sheep, but tags with an address?]

[ But that has him squinting up at the dog tags again. ]

[ He touches his locket. Same thing? Probably. ]

[He snorts, and as he tucks the tags back in, smirks.] Course, I get th' feelin' y' wouldn've tried t' get me t' drop out f'r th' same reasons...

[ He looks slightly pained. ]

As much as I didn't like you back then, I didn't want you to die. I never would've heard the end of it from Yugi, and the Pharaoh wouldn't want to duel me anymore. And...you're interesting to duel.

[ Suuure those are the reasons. ]

But she was clearly already attached to you by that point, if she was willing to claim you like that.

[He snorts.] Yeah, but I c'n bet I wasn' as close t' Mokuba f'r you, as I was where I was at. An' fr'm there, I'd bet if we had any kinda talk b'fore I wen' an' fought Ra, it went differen'.

[The blond blinks, and then frowns.] Y'know, I'm kinda curious abou' tha' act'lly. If it w's all comas, how'd my loss go f'r you guys? Did I ev'n get as close?

[He'll explain if he really has to, but he'll be as vague about it as possible.]

You nearly won, but Malik's nonsense took you out right at the end. We couldn't call a medical helicopter right away, not until Osiris restored power...

[ He takes a breath. ]

No idea how you survived that long. I should've disqualified him.

Yeahhhh y' do tha' he'd 've killed someone else, [he remarks casually, tipping his head. And then...and then he brings it back.] ...But then maybe not, I guess. Like I said...comas.

[He studies the other a moment, before sighing.] Guess tha' answers tha' question though. Wondered if y' were th' exact same as th' one in Alola...but 'f I went dead under m' own sword, maybe there's more 'n common than I thought.

[...Well.] ...Def'nitely not everythin' though I guess. ...Seto-chan didn' hesitate on the choppers.

Jus' needed folks t' duel long enough t' by th' choppers th' time they needed.

[ He just shakes his head. ]

[A pause, and a scowl.] ...Be great 'f it wasn' th' lifepoints tha' did it over there, but hey...

[ He listens, nods...and another piece falls into place. ]

Yugi said things were happening beyond Blue Eyes' normal programming during the last mission, but he couldn't see it, only see the after effects.

[ He's reaching for his deck now. ]

[MmmMMMmmMMMm. MMMMM!! MMMMM-] ...Why th' hell does th's only happen w'th you I swear t' god, [He grumbles, narrowing his eyes immediately.]

Oiiiiii, oii, what're y' doin'...

[ He digs in his rucksack, straps on his duel disk, and summons Blue Eyes. And waits. ]

Testing a theory.

[Credit where it's due- Katsuya does a really good job of not reacting. There's a minute glance toward where Blue Eyes appears- fortunately where the hologram does as well- and he keeps his eyes around that spot, and around where Kaiba is.

Problem; Blue Eyes is absolutely not there. She recognizes the blond. She knows what happened in the cave. Which means that in a few seconds, his hair ruffles under her breath- the sweater he's wearing even seems to dent as something noses against it. And finally-]

AAAAH- ALRIGH' ALRIGH' I GET IT GEEZE!!

AAAOUUUUUNNNN!

[Only he hears it.] Y'know tha's cheatin'? Tha's cheatin', how come you can' see 'er th's good anyway, ain't you finished w'th the whole Egypt stuff!?

[While he's shouting, Katsuya relents- and while it looks a bit like he's petting through the hologram (which definitely moved a little, if at least when the proper spirit moved too far for it to make sense), he's definitely petting...something.]

Damn dragon, oversized cat's what y' are...

[ Kaiba watches the scene curiously. His hair moved. There's something there. The hologram moves, but not to the same position, just closer. And then he's definitely petting something. The shape appears to roughly be his dragon's head. ]

My dragons are special...but apparently I lack the gift to give them the affection they deserve.

[ He's a wee bit envious. Just a bit. ]

Dueling...is more involved for you, isn't it.

Half a curse 'f y' ask me, [he mutters, letting it drop from there.]

....wasn' kiddin' abou' th' sword, [he relents, voice quiet. At his side, Kaseri nuzzles him.] ...Or th' tags.

....cl'nically dead f'r almos' half an' hour.

Tha' was after th' transfusion, [he admits, voice hoarse.]

Jonouchi...

[ Kaiba moves a little closer, nudging Amar back toward her trainer. Between the pony, the sheep, and the dragon, he should have enough comfort. ]

No wonder you didn't pick your deck.
