Information piece and a poll [day 27: poll is respond-able to]
You have questions.
Here is an information piece.
Voidsickness
What is Voidsickness?
Void sickness is a very rare condition but can be serious. Its precise cause is unknown but is thought to be linked to a problem in entering the void. It can cause memory loss, excessive fatigue, heightened temper and in very serious cases can lead to fatality.
I can't remember entering the void. Do I have Voidsickness?
Though memory loss is a symptom of voidsickness it is also very common for passengers on void transport to not remember the tethering process. If you have lost time between readying yourself for void travel and arrival on the void platform it does not necessarily mean you have voidsickness. Losing time during this process is very common. However if the memory loss goes deeper than that or you lose time during your void journey it could be a symptom of voidsickness.
Are hallucinations or shared dreams a symptom of voidsickness?
These are both a rare symptom of voidsickness. They are more likely to occur during a breach, or other accidental exposure to void dust. If you do not think you have been exposed to void dust or the hallucinations cover a period of more than three void days you should seek medical attention.
Will I die if I have voidsickness?
The fatality rate of voidsickness is very low. If you are losing large amounts of time, becoming overly forgetful, experience a lack of energy but also a heightened temper you may be in danger. Please speak to your void tour leader or commanding officer of your void mission if you believe yourself or a friend may have a more severe form of voidsickness.
Is there a cure?
The only cure that has been found is to leave the void and complete the tethering process once more. Hopefully this will allow you to enter the void and remain healthy.
However often voidsickness is not discovered in passengers until far into their journey. For mild cases of voidsickness it is possible to stave off symptoms with a good sleep routine, healthy eating and regular exercise. Taking time out of the void is always important, take advantage of any stops to spend time outside your voidcraft. If you suspect you have voidsickness wearing your Safety Control Apparatus at all times, even on your voidcraft will be beneficial to you.
If a passenger becomes violent or it is suspected they have a severe and dangerous form of voidsickness please contact your void ministry contact for assistance.
End of information piece.
