Colour me curious, but what are winter festivals or holidays like on your world? Back home, today would be Shiwasu 10, or Tōji -longest night and the start of winter. It's also my birthday, but that's not the important thing; it's not a big number anyway. I don't know what Alola does for Tōji, so I'll tell you what my hometown did.
[The longer she talks, the more homesick she sounds. It likely doesn't help that today's her birthday, but well. Small detail's Eva's willing to overlook.] Masara had the rural traditions of feasting, food making, drinking, games dancing, battles. You know, the normal for a coastal town.
No snowball fights though; we'd have to go to the mountains for that and we never went in the lead up to Tōji because that was bad luck. But, we did have something better: Fire jumping under the stars to bring good luck. You'd start at dusk with it low, little more than a small coal pit so even kids could jump it with supervision, and work up to a boosted jump over a half-drum of flames, though they'd only let the adults do that one.
The day I turned twenty I did so many times mum had to drag me away from it by the ear, but - worth it. So worth it...

Behind her flickers a projection of a large winged beast, easily 13 foot at the shoulder, and easily over 21 feet from snout to tail tip. It stands motionless, wings against its side. While it looks.. a bit derpy, the eyes are cold but hold an intelligence in them.]
This is a kairyū, just one of over thirty recognised dragon species. They're smart, friendly and loyal- all dragons are- but also rare.

As she broadcast the projection of the creature, WangJi was clearly in awe as he looked at it. He had never seen anything like that before. He was studying it carefully even though it was a projection, his first time seeing a dragon in more than just art]
Thirty different species of dragons? Amazing. I did not know there were so many.

[Eva grins.] And, it counts every dragon, not just the pure ones. If we just counted pure, we only have something like six species, and not all of them have wings. I could show you one if you'd like?

An adult ononokus. While I don't own one, I do know that with training and the right saddle, they can be ridden and are actually rather comfy, unlike other dragons.

That's amazing that you could train one to be a mount. It certainly must be impressive to see someone riding one.

[She's seen far too many midair ditches go wrong.] It's... It's the same with riding a horse into battle, really. It's do-able, but you really need to know what you're doing.

I see. Yes, I would think that riding another animal would be similar to a horse. In my world, we don't ride any other animals than horses or donkeys. Strong cultivators, however, can fly on their swords.

[This leads him to reach into his robes and pulling out... a pouch. But wait for it as he opens the pouch - which can fit easily into his hand - and pulls out a sword from the pouch that seems way too small to hold a sword.
He then "placed" his sword at a spot of the ground and it hovered there, perfectly level. So he stepped upon it, standing on his hovering sword]
