Sooooo, not being able to talk to most of the train that day sucked, huh? I don't know what to think about any of that, but since we can talk to each other now, I was thinking: How about we share where we're from, and see who's from worlds like ours?

And who speaks the same languages too! An actual list be better if that ever happens again, but for now, tell us about the kind of place you're from, what makes home home to you! You got kings or dragons? Machines? Portals to other worlds? Talking sea life? You just trying to get through school?

I'll go first to give you guys an idea, but share whatever you feel like!

Oh, not sleeping, dead. The Reborn are exactly that - they are those Returned to Life. But aye, there's tales and tales enow for any.

[ She hums, eyes alight with memory ] We are inland, upon the great green hills of Túna, in the pass of Calacirya in the Pelóri ranges. The walls and terraces are built of white stone, climbing ever higher. The streets we grade with diamond dust, and white crystal stairs climb from the fertile land beneath to the great gates which stand ever open. In the center of the city is the great tower of the Mindon Eldaliéva, whose great lantern is seen down the pass and out to sea, and at whose feet is set the King's House and the Great Square, where the White Tree, Galathilion, seedling of Telperion the silver grows.

[ The correction gets a small 'w-whoa' out of Tidus, a spring of surprise across of his face. Sleeping kings is one thing -- kings being reborn and knowing they were kings is something else!

But so is the rest of what she says, dazzling in description, more so with her fancy way of speaking. He likes it, even if it's hard for him to picture. ]

Is the White Tree special to you? It sounds like it's got its own family line when you introduce it like that!

It is! Telperion the Silver was one of the Two Trees of Valinor - it's sister was Laurelin the Golden, and they were more than trees, they were living Light itself, and as they waxed and waned, we counted day and night by their light. When she saw how dearly we loved Telperion especially, the Lady Yavanna gave us a seedling - Galathilion - to grow in the court of the King. Galathilion did not shine as did Telperion, but in other respects was the very image of it's parent.

Wow...giant trees you can tell night and day by? I wouldn't mind some of them here.

...actually, I think I just want to be in any forest with a day and night.

[ Just give him the outdoors, basically. ]

You have anything like this train around where you're from? The same technology it uses? It sounds out of place from everything you've said so far.

[ She smiles ]

Oh, but they were beautiful - I wish I could show you! But they are long and long gone. Ungoiliant drained their sap and poisoned them, and so we now have only the moon and sun, the last fruit and flower of the Trees, the only thing that could be saved.

[ She shakes her head ]

No - it is interesting and I hope to take the ideas home to work on further. What of yourself?

[ Oh, well that's a bummer, his expression of awe dropping at the news. What was that city like now? But with the question turned back on him, his own can wait. ]

Oh, well... Spira, the world I'm from, it lost a lot of its tech. Trains and vehicles used to exist, and it's got aircrafts that can fly in the sky, just one! But it's there. And there's boats, but they're powered by animals -- chocobos. You heard of them?

Oh my... but why did they loose it?

[ She shakes her head ] I have not, no. What are they?

[blitzcheer]

I'll tell you about chocobos first! Uh... well, I dunno what to compare them to, but they're feathery, got two legs--and they're fast! So they stick them in wheels and use the power from them running in those to get the boat to move.

The first is a long story, but the basics is, a large fiend got summoned in the world and went around destroying everything. People blamed it on the machines, so they thought if they stopped using them, the problem would go away. But the two weren't connected at all.

So they are a type of bird then? But large, by the sound of things!

[ She nods ] But once it was discovered that they were not related, could not the machines be restarted?

[blitzcheer]

Hmm, yeah, that's the best way to describe them. Don't know if they can fly though. They have tiny wings, but most they do it jump and flap them when they get excited!

[ They're cute. Even the energy Tidus gives off describing them comes out fondly. ]

And well, that's only happened recent. Or, well... over the last two years. Some people know how to use them, but I think it's going to take some time for people to get used to them around, you know? People really blamed them for what was going on.

But things'll change. And there's a group of people who know a lot about machina. They'll be able to uncover and get them working again!

Oh, they sound so sweet! [ She claps, delighted ] Are they very large?

[ She nods ]

I hope your world will be able to reclaim what is lost!

Large enough to ride! They're [ hmmm ] as tall as two of me!

[ And he's hovering a hand above his head, as if that might help. ]

Thanks, yours too! Trees that mimic the day and night...that'd be sad to see gone forever. But I hope the rest of your home's alright.

[ She smiles, charmed ]

But fluffy... I think some of the dinosaurs might have been similar. But I never ventured to the Wilds where they lived.

What kind of animals did you have? I only know a few -- I spent most of my life surrounded by the sea, and I was never much of an animal guy anyway.

Oh, all sorts, truly. Both domesticated and wild. But for the wild things I fear I know very little. I did journey around in my younger years, but bears and wolves were about as dangerous an animal as I had to deal with. My son Tyelkormo journeyed far with Lord Orome, and out there where the stars are fierce, are many of The Earth Queen's Great Beasts, who come not where we dwell.

[ Hmmm. ]

You know if there's anything called dragons around?

[ Her countenance darkens at the memory ]

Oh yes. The Enemy made them, but out of what we do no know. They are cunning and cruel and love destruction.

[blitzcheer]

Oh... geez, that's a different story from the last I heard.

[ Waay different. ]

They're not too difficult to take down, are they?

[ She shakes her head ]

I do not know how it is in other worlds, but so it is in ours. For details you would have to ask my son Curufin, who lost lands and people in the flight as Glaurung the Golden, Father of Dragons, issued forth in flames and consumed the lands they had held for so long. Few of the elves could stand against them, and to my knowledge, none have killed one. It is Men who are the Dragonslayers.

Oh, sorry... [ Realising where his question has landed, his head dips. ] I didn't mean to bring up anything bad if I did. That's terrible...

It was a long time ago, even as we count time. [ She smiles sadly and then shakes her head, putting the past behind her ]

Do not apologise! I was not there to see these things, so all I have for you is the tales the bards have brought back.

Well.. so life's better for you? Or, [ er, ] would be if you were home? You've been here a while, right? I remember seeing you at the council meeting.

For me? Aye, that is so. Tirion remains inviolate, for we live under the care of the Valar.

[ She nods ]

Mm, yes, I've been here some months now, I think. Tis not a bad vacation, as it goes.

Yeah? Got any plans when you get back home?

Mm, there was a rather large comission I had outstanding when I was brought there. That would probably be my first step! After that... well, I've a few ideas from the train that might be interesting to pursue, I think.
