fiddlesticks 25, video from standard coach: open to all
Sooooo, not being able to talk to most of the train that day sucked, huh? I don't know what to think about any of that, but since we can talk to each other now, I was thinking: How about we share where we're from, and see who's from worlds like ours?
And who speaks the same languages too! An actual list be better if that ever happens again, but for now, tell us about the kind of place you're from, what makes home home to you! You got kings or dragons? Machines? Portals to other worlds? Talking sea life? You just trying to get through school?
I'll go first to give you guys an idea, but share whatever you feel like!

As far as 'magic'...I've been dragged kicking and screaming into accepting it, but I have to admit it existed, once. People with the potential could allegedly transform their souls into monsters, to be used in combat. It all happened in the deserts of Egypt thousands of years ago, and was meant to stay buried...but as long as the battle remained unresolved, the souls of the dead were stuck here, I guess.
Some idiots made bad decisions with the artifacts that contained that power, the spirit of a lost pharaoh ended up haunting my classmate...and then the pharaoh taunted me, through him. Souls were stolen and sealed and ripped apart all while I was just trying to beat said pharaoh at a game of skill to settle our differences. It was exhausting. And then he had the nerve to leave without a word to me, after everything he'd put me through.
But he finally got to rest, I guess. Got the last laugh after all. And...well, a few thousand years is a long time to have to wait to go home.

If one wanted to reach with fayth and aeons. ]
Sounds like an ordeal. [ To put it lightly. ] What was the game of skill you had to do?
[ Physical fitness? Battle? A show of smarts? Whatever it was, it didn't sound small. ]

I've built new technology for the game that can simulate summoning without involving anyone's souls. Here, I'll show you.
[ He pulls his disk out of his rucksack, slaps a card on it, and summons his favorite dragon, appropriately scaled to sit behind him. It roars approvingly. ]
Simple, right?

they played a card game? Which is still on Tidus's mind before the holographic dragon appears. O-K. That's a thing. He looks somewhat confused and baffled. ]
Uhhh, yeah. Sure. [ which part is simple... ] So this ancient old guy played this card game someone made up, and that was enough to make him happy?
[ Is he getting this right. ]

[ He reaches back to mime petting his dragon. It's not solid, but it purrs anyway. ]
There was an ancient war involving dark magic with this game. A jerk I won't name discovered tablets depicting the war, and was inspired to make a card game. Then the ancient spirits broke loose and we got drawn into the war against our wills.
The good guy 'won', and now he's back where he belongs. And happy, I'd hope.

Huuuhh...
Well, by the sounds of your ancient guy, he probably figured the two of you said enough through your match, you know? That type. Enough -- words are useless [ --and he puts on an old voice just for that-- ] kind of guy.
But geez, finding out people had wars with card games... there's some funny worlds out there.
