Sooooo, not being able to talk to most of the train that day sucked, huh? I don't know what to think about any of that, but since we can talk to each other now, I was thinking: How about we share where we're from, and see who's from worlds like ours?

And who speaks the same languages too! An actual list be better if that ever happens again, but for now, tell us about the kind of place you're from, what makes home home to you! You got kings or dragons? Machines? Portals to other worlds? Talking sea life? You just trying to get through school?

I'll go first to give you guys an idea, but share whatever you feel like!

My name is Misa. I'm from the desert planet of Cantonica, the main city Canto Bight to be exact. I speak Galactic Basic, and can understand Wookie, in a pinch. I'm somewhat adept at reading lekku language in some instances, but not all.

Where I'm from space travel is common place, and even encouraged in some circles. I was born on a trader - a ship that carries cargo - between systems, that is, between planetary systems.

I'm studying to be a courtesan. I will not be one until I am sixteen, so three more years.

I have a guard, he's a Twi'lek named Jocko, and there's the Mistress of course, but the House I live in also has a cook named Freema. Freema makes the best strawberry/peach tarts. Oh! And Glorfindel and I are going to try to grow the Bothan Peaches so that, maybe, we can have some for people.

Is 'lekku' a people or an object or something other? I am imagining something like hand sign but I fear I might be wildly off-course..

Lekku are the head-tails that Twi'leks have. If you've met Telli? Those long things coming out of her head are lekku.

Well, Cantonica is just one planet. The New Republic spans quite a few hundred systems.

Did you ever get to travel around yourself?

And no, of course not. I'm a courtesan-in-training. Only Mistresses get to travel.

Well... what about where you live? In the city? You get to walk around and have a free day once in a while, right?

Of course I get to walk around! With my guard, only, but how else am I supposed to let people know I exist? I don't get a 'free day' really, since I'm always representing the House.

I dunno! You said you were still in training...

I have no idea how your whole thing works. [ Basically. ] We don't have anything like it where I'm from.

Oh, well, I was chosen at age four to become the next Mistress of the Premier House on Cantonica. My mother started my training before I can remember, and the Mistress picked up from where she left off. Manners, comportment, anatomy, pleasures, stuff like that. So, when I leave the House to go shopping, or to pick up packages for others, I'm representing her and myself.

When I turn sixteen, the Mistress will hold a small, intimate auction, where my virginity will be bid on by several people that she invites in. The winner will be my first client.

[ She shrugs. ]

That's basically it.

Hey, well uh...you have a bodyguard back home, but do you know if you can learn magic? I know you said about us maybe not remembering whatever we learn here, but that kinda profession--you can't be too careful with people, it sounds like.

Of course I had a guard back home. His name is Jocko. He's a Twi'lek, and he trains me with my vibroknives. AS for magic? No. Luke says I can learn to use the Force, but I mostly use it to heal.

[ She doesn't know he's uncomfortable because they're not in the same room, so that's good? ]

...That the same as magic? 'Cause I know how to make people fall asleep just by hitting them.

Works with knives too. I whack fiends with a sword and they still get knocked out.

The Force is... [ She takes a moment. ] The Force is a connection to all of life, and the universe at large. It's not magic, though it may seem like it.

And when I hit someone with one of my knives, I'm not trying to knock them out, but to kill them.

[ WELL... he's the one who went here, so he can't really complain about it turning morbid. ]

No, but you're not always going to get a good hit. If you can learn to stun someone with the Force, it's not a bad idea. It can make a difference in a fight.

I mean, [ a sigh, ] I hope you don't end up in a fight like that. Just never hurts to have some tricks up your sleeve, you know?

If I can't make a good hit like that on the first try, Jocko and the others here, trained me for nothing.

[ And she doesn't want them to have wasted their time. ]

I've ended up in more than one fight like that. Politics between houses can be deadly.

What's a house about [ a pause ] what you do got to bring out the knives for?

[ Why is everything everywhere so weird?? ]

Houses are where courtesans live and work.

[ She smiles. ]

Politics often bring out the knives. There's a tridarean that wanted me when I was four, and is still trying to kidnap me away from the Mistress. So, when he sends people after me, when I'm in the marketplace, I bring out my knives, because I will not be under that sleeze ball's thumb.

Is it just this one guy who's got some weird thing about you? I mean... what you told me about courtesans, you're about talking to people and...making sure they're happy?

Oh no, there's several other houses that dislike the Mistress because she runs the best house in Canto Bight.

And she has the governor's favor.
