[Joscelin looks tired and particularly disgruntled this morning. He holds up the beautiful dagger he’d stolen during the goblin mission several months back.]

You feel sick Joss? You should go to bed! Where are you?

I’m sore and tired. Isn’t that how the flu starts?

That's how it felt last time I got sick... You got to go to bed, I can ask if one of the doctors can come and help you!

Christ, human bodies are obnoxious. I’ll be in my bunk, I suppose,

Rest well Joss! I'll bring you some tea and some soup soon!

[Joss certainly doesn't look sick when Romeo visits later on. He's standing up next to his bunk, trying to measure himself against the frame.]

Do I look taller to you?

[Like promised Romeo comes with soup and tea and looks surprised when Joss goes to measure himself.]

Um maybe a bit. [He has to go over to him to put the soup and tea on the table and then stands next to him to measure against him.] You might be a bit bigger, how are you feeling? [He doesn't look sick at least!]

The Doctor said I'm two centimeters taller.

[He seems more excited than he's been in a long time. Two centimeters! Its the most growing he's done in centuries.]

I'm still sore, but apparently that's growing pains, not sickness. Come on, take a seat and let's split the soup. Maybe we can get you growing as well.

[Intellectually, he knows it's impossible: Romeo is just as frozen as Joss had been. But he can always hope.]

[He smiles. He knows as well as Joss that he won't grow because he's a shinki and will remain eleven forever, even as Joss becomes a grown up.

But also, because he's a shinki, he's always hungry so he's not going to say no to soup.]

Growing hurts?

[Joscelin's glad that Romeo is going to let him pretend. At least just this once. Unlike Joss's sudden loss of his vampirism, there's no way to "cure" Romeo, nor does Joss think Romeo would like it if he tried. But this, the prospect of being separated from the person who is most important to him, hurts. Especially now that he has physical proof that he's going to keep moving away from Romeo.]

Apparently! I don't remember it hurting before, but there is a lot about being human that I can't remember. It was a very long time ago. I know what happened, a lot of the time, but I can't remember it. It's rather odd.

[He just nods, not remembering things makes more sense than remembering them honestly. Memories are strange. He can't imagine being able to remember a whole life, especially one like Joss' when he has hundreds and hundreds of years to remember.]

Well growing sounds bad if it hurts. But I bet the soup will make you feel better!
