Just doing a check - how many of you can make some kind of portable healing item? Like... a potion or stimulant, or, dunno, a cake, or something that'll heal injuries quickly. Missions are getting pretty dangerous, and with it liking to split the teams up so much, I figure it'd be good to start thinking about back-up plans in case a team's healer is taken out of commission or ends up 'visiting the control coach' during mission week.

[ Like her, for example. ]

Just... gimme an idea of what you can make, and what you'd need for it, I guess. Reply to standard coach, or come and talk to me.

[ She reaches towards the screen, then pauses. ] Oh, right. I've finished writing up my notes of the missions so far, so if you want to come and give 'em a look, get an idea of what you'll be doing in the future, that's fine too.

[ Bwip. ]

[ About ten minutes later, she's back: ] Just repeating something Tidus said - it'd be good to know the same for defensive supplies. Stun grenades, nets, deployable barriers. Magic or whatever else that does the same thing.

What can I say? I've got way too many points.

And- does it work on sodas, you think, or just the energy drinks?

[She's still going to buy All The Energy drinks, but just for future reference...]

[Noct looks surprised, like he's just had a revelation.]

I've never tried with soda... I know energy drinks work, but I would be willing to try with a soda... It would probably taste better to most people. I'll change any amount of energy drinks you want, though. I'm confident it'll work.

[He ends communication and slips on his shoes before heading to the kitchen. He has been looking for a way to be useful, and learning to cook has been going rather slow, so this is definitely more up his alley. He finds a snack as he waits, leaning against a counter. Meeting new people was never really his strong point, but he's trying!]

[Nita may be using a levitation spell (and, more pragmatically, one of the rare rolling-luggage packs from the Luggage Car) to carry most of the energy drinks, but she's carrying one energy drink and one Purple soda each in her hands into the kitchen.]

Afternoon. Nice to meet you, Noct!

I'd, ah, offer to shake hands, or something, but...

[Nita grins wryly at herself.]

Kinda failed to think this one through on my end. Which do you want to test first?

[Noct offers her a smile and takes the energy drink from her hand.]

Nice to meet you, too, um...crap, did I get your name? Sorry, I'm terrible with them...

[He holds the energy drink in his hands, a blue light shining from them for just a moment before fading. The drink can itself doesn't look any different.]

That's all there is to it. We should probably label them or something...

[Nita shakes her head.]

I don't think we've actually talked before today; it's alright.

[The last mission had been kind of distracting...]

And my name's Nita.

[She raises an eyebrow at that brief blue light, before nodding. The peridexis, out of curiosity, subtly runs a scan and-]

Huh; looks like it took. We can mark out a section in the freezer in Stores, probably.

[Glancing between the energy drink, the soda in her other hand, and the luggage full of energy drinks behind her, she can't help but wonder:]

Think you have to handle each of these one-by-one, or will it work if you just put your hand on top of them?

It's nice to meet you.

[Noct looks at the drinks.]

I think I can do four at a time. Just a warning, though. If I start nodding off, stop me, okay?

[Nita extends both the soda'd hand and her free one.]

I think I should be able to give you a boost, if needed. I've got energy to spare, though I can't do that trick!

['That' being, of course, converting energy drinks into health potions.]

[Noct takes the soda and then shakes her hand. He looks at the soda thoughtfully.]

Let's try this first, and then we can finish the energy drinks.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

You can share your energy? If so, that's good. I have remarkably low stamina. It's kind of embarrassing.

[Nita nods, letting both hands drop once Noct's done.]

I've done power-sharing for spells before. This doesn't seem too far different for being from another world's system...

[In other words, they can bridge any potential gaps themselves.]

[Noct nods as he places a hand over the soda. The blue light comes back as he tries to shift it. It's always hard to tell if it takes, because it doesn't change in anyway.]

That's pretty useful. I'm sure there are others here that have powers that could use amplifying.

[Nita has Bobo run the same scan he'd done for the energy drink on this, and she nods.]

Looks like it took on that, too. That'll make future preparations a lot easier if we can just order the cheaper stuff.

[Nita gives a wry grin.]

Though that means I spent a lot more than I had to, too.

Ready to take on the big load?

That's great! Not that kids should be drinking too much soda...but they definitely shouldn't be drinking energy drinks...so this will help widen the population of people that can use the potions.

[He grins and nods.]

Yeah, I'm ready.

[He goes to grab a case of energy drinks and puts his hand over it.]

I'm guessing we've been having trouble with medics and healing during missions? I didn't go on the last one, so...

[Nita shifts around so she can put a hand on Noctis' shoulder if it looks like he's flagging.]

Yeah, there were a lot of monsters to fight, and some tough ones leading them. Some giant jellyfish thing? And a sentient mass of water that fought those on the island.

Us on Orange only had to deal with crabs, though, and I think Purple was mostly the same, so you didn't miss too much on those fronts.

[Nita shakes her head.]

That, and a lot of people come and go, at the platforms; we need something more reliable than that.

[Noct appreciates that she's got his back. He does feel like he could do more with her there.]

Yeah, I couldn't...I couldn't go on that mission. Being surrounded by angry currents of water brought back some really bad, really recent memories.

[He remembers Gladio disappearing for that week, and is glad he didn't leave at the platform.]

That makes sense. I'll help as much as I can.

[Nita winces.]

I can understand that.

[Blood in the water, a memory rings out. Nita carefully sets it aside.]

Well, we've certainly got healing covered now.

[Nita focuses, reaching for the peridexis in the back of her mind.]

Let me know when you need a top-up yourself, okay? Or just a break.

[Noct nods, letting the subject drop. No need to pull down the mood. After two cases, he stops.]

Yeah, gonna need that top-up now. Seriously, I wish I could build up my stamina...

[Nita supports Noct with that hand on his shoulder, mentally reaching for the peridexis to set a power-donation spell in motion...]

It's not like working a muscle, huh?

[She could sympathize.]

No. I wish it was. I was never as strong as my dad.

[it was frustrating. How was he to carry on his father’s legacy when He was so weak? Still, he could feel more power flow through him. Enough to keep going.]

Thanks. That’s a pretty handy power.

[Nita scrunches her face up.]

Kind of unfair, there. Wouldn't talents passed on through generations get more concentrated?

[That was wouldn't as in 'general tendency', rather than shouldn't as in an admonishment for not having that be the case here.]

It's come in handy more times than I can count!

[When you know someone - or something - long enough, it stops mattering whether you keep score.]
