Just doing a check - how many of you can make some kind of portable healing item? Like... a potion or stimulant, or, dunno, a cake, or something that'll heal injuries quickly. Missions are getting pretty dangerous, and with it liking to split the teams up so much, I figure it'd be good to start thinking about back-up plans in case a team's healer is taken out of commission or ends up 'visiting the control coach' during mission week.

[ Like her, for example. ]

Just... gimme an idea of what you can make, and what you'd need for it, I guess. Reply to standard coach, or come and talk to me.

[ She reaches towards the screen, then pauses. ] Oh, right. I've finished writing up my notes of the missions so far, so if you want to come and give 'em a look, get an idea of what you'll be doing in the future, that's fine too.

[ Bwip. ]

[ About ten minutes later, she's back: ] Just repeating something Tidus said - it'd be good to know the same for defensive supplies. Stun grenades, nets, deployable barriers. Magic or whatever else that does the same thing.

It's up in the air whether he can pull from people... [ Managing expectations! ] He said he'd take it from 'sources of magic', but people in his world don't have magic like you or me.

[ She pauses, and then scribbles that word down. ] Think more people could use antigravity?

Huh? Oh. Right, you weren't around when I got it. [ She pulls her grav-con unit out of her hoodie pocket. She tends to take it back from the kid between missions for maintenance, after all.

Chucks it to him without much ceremony, too. ]

'Gravity control unit'. They're standard back home in the military.

[ He catches it in hand, blinking and turning his wrist so as to look at it, if just by shape. Neither the sight of it or Light's 'explanation' providing much help. ]

What does it do? [ ...should he be careful how he holds it? He keeps his arm out some, unsure....if he wants to do really examine it too closely. ]

It controls gravity. [ She puts her hand over his, to set his fingers against the switch and the tactile thumbpad that allows setting control. ]

Mostly used to stop you breaking your neck in a fall, but you can use it on yourself... or other people.

Oh. [ Oh. ...he still thinks he's lacking the imagination for this thing, but his fingers are on settings now.

...it's a deadly temptation for a guy like him. ]

So it can slow someone? [ That doesn't sound so bad, but Tidus can't help but feel out of his depth with this line of questioning. And that tickling urge is in the back of his head to twitch his fingers. ] It couldn't hurt, but...

[ It's not just his waning self-control that has Tidus indecisive, and before he can come to any sort of conclusion, his finger 'slips', and the bubble of purple energy surroundings him-- ]

[ and his uncertainty now replaced by surprise. ]

Eh? [ He doesn't feel heavier? ...actually, when he tries to take a hop backwards, he even-- ]

[ --goes back far enough to knock into the edge of a seat and pin ball into the adjacent table before finding the ground.

Or really, rather- ] Maaaybe it'll be good with some training first? There's a woman-- Cass, I think? She was with the army. There's a few army people here, now that I think about it.

[ Like. Two? Anyway. ]

It wouldn't be bad asking them what'd be good to equip or get people to learn, right? Everyone I was with... we had our own speciality we were good at, and we got to practice off fiends a lot.

[ Waving a hand. ] I'm worried I won't be able to give a good opinion.

Might be time to do another check on what people can do. I asked a while ago, got some good answers... But talkings's not reliable on its own. Maybe we need to spend some time puttin' everything through their paces.

[ Hm ] Cass, you said?

[ A nod. ] Blonde hair, about your age. She was asking about getting guns made and training people with them. But there's the people who run training sessions too, [ he adds, widening that particular net, ] so if you're thinking about getting more active with it...

[ Well. Might get a few hands to help there. ]

[ She makes a soft huh sound. ] Think I've seen her around. Didn't know she was a soldier, though...

I'll speak to Rieper. He's been keeping an eye on the training. [ She hesitates, then reaches up to place a hand on his shoulder. ] Thanks, for all this.

It's not a gesture Tidus was expecting, and he blinks, before laughing a little, embarrassed. ]

Hey, you're the one who made the call! You're the one actually getting things moving. I don't know the first thing about putting into action anything like this.

[ Organising, supplying. Or maybe he doesn't have the right spirit, whatever that is. A level of authority that Light wears in the way she presents herself. ]

I just hope everyone else goes along with it and sees it's a good idea.

[ Don't tell anyone, her reputation will be ruin--- who are we kidding.

She pulls away again after a moment, eyes flickering sideways and down to hide her momentary embarrassment. Over the praise - unnecessary, since she's just impatient - and his own reaction. ]

... Right. Guess we'll find out.

[ HUFF THE AWKWARD AWAY ] Now we just need the train authority to play nice with supplies, and we're set.

Well, whatever happens, if we've got people onboard who can cook somethin' up, we'll make it work!

[ She's brought out his full optimism at the very least, and he's even looking at the anti-grav device that just decided to beach ball him with some thought. ]

Show me how this works sometime too! In the gym. [ But for now, he'll hand it back over. ] You don't have more gadgets like it, do you?

Sure. I'll get you the manual later, and you can give it a proper try.

[ Hums. ] There's other manadrive tech we could use... strength enhancers, maybe. Some accessories and gear that would be a big help.

[ she'd thought about transgates, but... not knowing how they work, she's not sure they'd work outside of Cocoon. ]

Do you have anything like it?

Not really. I wouldn't know if Zanarkand had anything like that, and Spira--Rikku would know more about the machina. She was one of Yuna's guardians; she still spends time with her.

[ And, well... He looks aside, pressing his lips together. ]

You'd be better asking Yuna. Spira's changed since I last saw it--I got taken two years in the past from Yuna, so.

[ He looks at Light as he says that, but shifts his gaze again towards the end. A brief hesitance before he regains himself. ]

But it could have a lot of new stuff. You've seen her dress sphere, right? She has all kinds of weapons hidden away.

Yeah, she 'showed' me earlier. [ by which she means, Light needs to stop allowing people to cast things on her. ] Once she's trained up a bit, she's gonna be a real menace.

[ she shifts, and smiles wryly. ] Not that she isn't already...

You better believe it. When it comes to magic, you can't grumble with Yuna. She'd be unstoppable if she had her aeons.
