 Hey, all you wild animals! If we haven't met before, the name's Della Duck. Now, I'm not tooootally sure if the calendar here really aligns with what time it was back home or even if time has real meaning at all here BUT ANYWAY! Far as I'm concerned, today is today and today is my birthday!

Now don't go worrying about parties and presents and stuff - I just got here, so we're all kinda too new for that. Instead, what I want is to make a whole bunch of new friends. So if you're up to it, give me three interesting details about you! I'll go first.

1. I'm a mom! I've got three boys, triplets, and they're the best.
2. I've got a twin brother! So technically it's his birthday too, and once again I missed out on the chance to celebrate with him... haaaa ha ha.
3. I'm an ace pilot! If it flies, I can control it!

Yeeaah, way too easy to screw that sort of thing up, even if you're doing what should be the right thing when you're back there.

[As one of Nita's friends put it, the future was so much more malleable.]

Better than being in a time loop, though; those are a headache, sometimes literally.

But I guess it's not always all bad. The Christmas Spirits know how to use time travel correctly, so it doesn't blow up in our faces. 'Cause of them, I got to meet my future kid... not that I knew it for a long time.

Metaphysical forces usually have the advantage over us regular people-

And... that sounds like one of the best presents of all, really.

Though probably a bit confusing, before you got to see things going the slow path.

Oh, definitely. But it all worked out. And we avoided the "don't change the past by warning about the future" deal. That NEVER works out.

Prophecies are pain enough; trying to go back and give something straight just makes it all worse.

[Insert twisted metaphor about time and being flexible to handle multiple probabilities here.]

Still, we haven't had to handle that on this train yet.

Except for visions, some people here do get those before missions.

Oooh, really? Now that might be interesting. You ever get one?

Only really happens if you have the Gift back home, though.

... And the last world had something suppressing spiritual powers, especially extrasensory ones. There weren't any visions for that.

I helped off a bunch of crabs brought about by some sort of evil jellyfish creature, that last time.

Those creatures didn't love us, for sure.

[The fish, in contrast, had been fine. And Nita had done the fighting mostly as a whale, though she leaves that out of the picture for now...]

Ugh, crabs. You never hear anyone being called "crabby" as a good thing!

Well, we don't have any crabs living on the train, fortunately!

Still all kinds of species, though.

I'll say, though humans and human-shaped things seem to be the majority, for some reason.

Yeah, it does seem 'four limbs, one head' is pretty standard.

Even the more mechanical types don't look all that odd.

... Not sure what to make of that one dog-type thing, though. The one with all the limbs.

[Oh yes, Nita HAS seen Ferdinand around, though she hasn't talked to the supposed owners yet.]

A multi-limb dog? ... That sounds awesome.

Haven't seen anything like him in a while. Not since I was last back home and off-Earth, anyway.

[It is NOT an Earth-born species, that's for certain.]

He seems pretty friendly, though.

Dogs are supposed to be friendly! ... Except ghost dogs, those can be a pain, even if they're supposed to be loyal.

Then there's god-dogs; no clue if he'll show up here, but Ponch got really weird before he reached his Place.

Never sprouted extra legs, though.

Haven't met a canine-deity yet, but I'm definitely putting it on the to-do list.
