 Hey, all you wild animals! If we haven't met before, the name's Della Duck. Now, I'm not tooootally sure if the calendar here really aligns with what time it was back home or even if time has real meaning at all here BUT ANYWAY! Far as I'm concerned, today is today and today is my birthday!

Now don't go worrying about parties and presents and stuff - I just got here, so we're all kinda too new for that. Instead, what I want is to make a whole bunch of new friends. So if you're up to it, give me three interesting details about you! I'll go first.

1. I'm a mom! I've got three boys, triplets, and they're the best.
2. I've got a twin brother! So technically it's his birthday too, and once again I missed out on the chance to celebrate with him... haaaa ha ha.
3. I'm an ace pilot! If it flies, I can control it!

But I am very grateful, yes, particularly since we have been long sundered. How are your sons?

My boys are the BEST! Smart, resourceful, creative, kind, brave, loyal, and the cutest feathers you never wanna stop ruffling!

You are fortunate indeed to have such sons! Mine are all grown, alas, and although I still love them dearly, they are past the age for cuddles.

[ This is a lie as Nerdanel hugs them anyway ]

I got to miss out on ten years of cuddling, so I'm going in for a good hug even when they're old and gray.

My goodness, but isn't that quite a long time to be apart?

Yeah... it really was.

[ sad sigh. ]

Long story short, I did something really stupid, and I paid for it big time.

I am sorry. That is a cruel burden to bear. But you were able to see them before you came here, at the least?

[ Thankfully, she does seem to cheer up quickly. ]

That's right! I got to learn all about my boys, inside and out!

That is good. [ Nerdanel nods, grieving that this young mother must be again sundered from her children ]

I will hope then, that your stay here is brief, that you might be soon reunited with them! In the meantime however... would it help you to speak more of them?

Hey, I'd talk about them if it helped me or not! They're great kids! Huey, Dewey, and Louie - they were identical triplets, but they're as unique as they come!

How wonderful! Is that common amongst your folk? You are a twin yourself, you said, yes? My youngest two are twins, but they were considered extremely unusual, as my folk do not really have twins.

It's not that common - I'd say a twin giving birth to triplets is probably a one in a million chance!

[ TBH Della has no idea about the math. But it sounds right to her? ]

How marvellous! Will you have other children, do you think, or are three enough?

[sos_pilot]

Way more than enough! Plus, they've really bonded with this adorable little girl, Webby! They're so close, they think of her like a sister... so I'd like to get to know her better too, since she's living with us - she's our housekeeper's granddaughter.

In a way, I have a fourth kid!

Oh, but that's excellent news!

[ Nerdanel smiles ]

Tis always good to have close friends - Webby's parents are approving, I take it?

No clue, never met 'em. Mrs. Beakly never speaks about what happened to them either, she raised Webby all on her own.

But Mrs. B herself is pretty chill about all of us hanging out together.
