[ Video ] Fiddlesticks Day Sixteen (Fight Club)
[It's 47 in his signature suit once more, this time in the new gym. As promised he's here to make the announcement for training again now that the new passengers have had a few days to adjust.]
Your attention, please.
My name is Tobias Rieper, and I would like to inform the passengers today that all the former training equipment in the original gym has been transferred to the new training gym. Sessions for training and sparring are still ongoing, they have simply been moved to the appropriate gym for the foreseeable future.
[Most people have probably already figured that out or been informed by any trainers that they've moved but 47 wanted to make it clear. The important part was to inform the new passengers what and where it was being done anyway.]
To all new passengers: there is training for combat available to anyone seeking to learn held daily in the training gym. Training is available for beginners to advanced level with various types of combat on hand to suit one's needs. Martial arts, archery, swordsmanship, and other skills are currently on offer by many individuals. [Enough that one-on-one training was probably easily obtained, truth be told.]
If you need help in finding a sparring partner or trainer you may contact me for help finding one or come to the training gym to ask around.
Thank you for your time.
[The announcement ends and 47 stands nearby the terminal to field any questions if there are any this time.]
[[Meanwhile, ooc nonsense: here is the first ooc announcement of "Fight Club", please feel free to add any characters willing to or already participating in learning or teaching if not already listed. This can help us keep track of who is teaching what in case anyone has any recommendations for new characters when they arrive. And last but certainly not least is the open catch-all log for the Month of Fiddlesticks. Next ic month I'll start a new one if interest continues!
Oh, yeah. Characters such as Drizzt and Glorfindel have individual catch-alls if you prefer as well. Happy training guys!]]

Hey now, that's what I'm talkin' about. [And now he has a very important question:] You got anybody able to each fighters how to fight mages?
no subject
You mean strictly non-magical fighters combating full-on magic users?
no subject
Yeah. [He nods.] Sometimes you can't avoid it.
no subject
[You know, other than get the drop on them before they notice or hope for the best in a frontal assault. Because the best 47 had was pull out his pistol and shoot at the target before it could hit him with magic. Which was...basically the Snow Fight except he managed to stay (mostly) hidden and fight searching tendrils with explosives.]
no subject
[He hasn't, mostly because he's not that dexterous.]
Sometimes the best thing to take down a mage is a really big ax, but you gotta be able to close the distance.
no subject
[That seemed fair enough. 47 thought back to the Snow Mission again.]
I take it you don't use stealth as a means. What then?
no subject
[He paused for a moment, crossing his arms, thoughtful.]
I don't take you for a guy who uses one often.
no subject
[Or perhaps all the magic types from this person's world. Still, it was worth considering.]
They're no longer considered common gear for fighting forces in my world.
no subject
That's a shame. You never know when somebody's going to throw acid at your face.
no subject
I prefer not to give them the chance.
no subject
You want an answer to that one, you're going to have to ask a Templar. Far as I know, it's not magic, but a technique, takes the spells apart sort of like unraveling fabric, but that's only from watching them work.
[He really has no idea.]
Sometimes that's not an option.
no subject
[He'll keep that in mind because that sounds very interesting indeed. If he met a Templar from the Iron Bull's world one day 47 would most definitely ask about such techniques.]
It may not be but it is the first option. Second would be to be quicker. [And put a bullet between their eyes but that might have sounded a little too aggressive for the ICP chatter.]

[Samata honestly hasn't shown a huge amount of promise as a melee fighter. Her arm causes trouble, obviously, and she's not very fast on her feet. On top of that, she groans a lot about how hard and tiring it is and is always a slug for the rest of the day after the fight club session.
But, she does keep showing up and she has so far never actually left early. She's made SOME progress and has determination.]
no subject
[He still has things to teach her.
47 would have been stricter but not everyone could be raised as an assassin from birth so he just dealt with it. Samata's physical training may have been a bit of a concern but on the plus side 47 had eventually moved onto a style of martial arts that focused on joint locks and breaking out of them and other grapple-adjacent holds. That way Samata could defend herself effectively against a melee fighter without much physical strength.
He still insisted she go through the regular routines of physical training and martial arts forms. But he didn't make those routines very long or strenuous
anymore.]no subject
[Sounding way too happy about that. Then Nari goes somber.]
I can fight. And fix people up if you got the appropriate medical equipment. Mostly I just want to fight.
no subject
We keep a basic set of medical supplies on hand at all times. For everything else, there's the medical suite. [Meaning if it was that serious they would need more than basic first aid and moving the injured party would be for the best anyway.] With the new training gym added timing will be less of an issue. You should be able to drop by any time during the day to find someone there.
If you need help finding a partner or trainer, I'll be there early morning and in the evening.
[A moment, and then he remembers he is keeping track and might as well learn the easy way rather than by observation.]
Your preferred fighting method?
no subject
Hmmm... well, it depends. I can fistfight and had a Yakuza buddy show me knife combat. [Which is a fond memory.] But I am very good at being a human stun gun. I would love to see if I can be more creative with the abilities I was born with.
no subject
[A brief pause, but he was interested in what she had described and knowing more detail.]
What do you mean by 'human stun gun'? What sort of abilities do you have?
no subject
[It's fine. Only three people have gotten killed due to these abilities in her life so far.]
Basically, I can harness elements. I keep my body temp regulated that way so I'm never too hot or too cold. Always comfortable.
no subject
[He said, mostly musing aloud to himself, but a confirmation wouldn't hurt. To that end:]
Which elements? Do you refer to it as magic, or something else?
no subject
[As for the second question?]
It ain't magic. My dad told me it's like a mutation. I did figure out what exactly it is... but it ain't magic. Just something I am genetically predisposed to being able to use. Easiest way to explain it.
no subject
[No, he actually can't but he does know the properties of plasma and what temperature it would take to cause an object to turn into it. And that would take some energy to reproduce. So, kind of imagine it. A little bit. ish.]
That's fine. There is neither magic nor enhanced or mutated abilities of such portent where I am from. [So he was asking for sake of 'politically correctness' as much as understanding.] But there are other people here with similar abilities, enhancements, or magical powers that you can practice with. As well as non-enhanced that may wish to learn to compete with such abilities for preparedness.
no subject
I found that to be a pretty common thing between worlds. My friends treated me like some kinda hero in the making. That ain't me... I am pretty much up for training with anyone, enhanced or not. Just as long as they don't go down in one hit.
no subject
[Hero speak was not really for him. Nor gossiping on how others react to things. The only speculation he did of that sort was to estimate how a person would react to his distractions so he could sneak past them.]
no subject
[Beats doing laundry. Sorry, team. But not really.]
