Good evening, Voidtreckers. I'd like to announce a council meeting in three days. It's overdue and I believe we have a number of items to discuss.

Please council members take some time over the next few days to come up with and notify me of topics we need to discuss so I can prepare an agenda. If anyone who is not a council member feels strongly about a certain topic we should consider, either tell me or seek out a council member so they may relay the information.

[Alice was about to ask weren't all meetings were behind closed doors so as to not let in a draft, or worse, mosquitos? But the first answer led her to believe these were different kinds of closed doors. Locked kind of doors, of sorts.]

Why would anyone want the meeting be a secret?

Lots of answers to that. [ Speaking from experience... ] Sometimes it's because the people in the meeting don't know any more than the rest of 'em, and don't want them to know it.

Then why have a meeting at all beyond "we don't know what's going on?" I should think it would be a very short meeting.

Because if people talk, they can figure it out.

Shouldn't there be as many people as possible, then, so that everyone can offer an idea of what it might be... whatever "it" is?

Don't worry too much about it. Better to get it all out in the open, know where everyone stands.

They're standing on the train, I should think. [She can't imagine where else they could since they've left.]

But everything will be alright, won't it? I mean, the fighting will stop? [Look, it's one thing when it's a deck of cards, but these are actual people.]

... standing figuratively, I guess. And sure. They'll sleep eventually.

They'll keep fighting until they sleep? It... is it really that important?

[ It's the unimportant fights that last the longest. ] No, it's not. They'll be fine. It's probably already over.

You don't think it will start all over again in the council meeting, do you?

If they're arguing in the council meeting, they're doing it right. [ her voice is pretty calm, honestly. Maybe a little sarcastic. ] They're all gonna have opinions, and if they don't get to express 'em then it's not a council, it's a dictatorship.

Arguing means they're doing their job.

Really?! [That's a surprising thing to her!] I suppose... that is somewhat true... the not being allowed to express them. It was terribly dangerous to do so in front of the King and Queen of Hearts.

[ She's gonna regret asking. ]

Who're they?

They rule Wonderland. The Queen of Hearts yells at everyone "off with your head!" and unless the king comes along to pardon you, the executioner is very close behind. They tried to behead my friend, the Cheshire Cat.

[ She pauses to take that in. ]

... Yeah, I think you're safe here. We don't have an executioner, for one thing.

[No, just a kidnapping train.]

Has... the train gone to places where there are executioners?

[enthunder]

[ She has a feeling that they've lost the thread of the conversation, or maybe that they never had one in the first place, but it's not like she has anything better to do. She hits the reply button again. ]

Probably. None that've bothered us, though, so that's covered under 'don't worry about it'.
