Good evening, Voidtreckers. I'd like to announce a council meeting in three days. It's overdue and I believe we have a number of items to discuss.

Please council members take some time over the next few days to come up with and notify me of topics we need to discuss so I can prepare an agenda. If anyone who is not a council member feels strongly about a certain topic we should consider, either tell me or seek out a council member so they may relay the information.

Yeah broadcasting it would quickly dissolve into chaos. We have already twelve people meeting and this is our first meeting. It'll be chaotic enough as it is.

Only if the moderator doesn't keep control of the meeting. Unless you like chaos.

Anyway, we could always set aside a few carriages next to the meeting car and them, as long as we had a set time limit to the meeting, it should work.

What about a compromise here? We can discuss at this meeting if we'd like all future council meetings to be open or not. We can provide the transcripts. I'll personally offer a Q&A afterward and defend or explain any and all decisions that were made during the meeting.

I'm an advocate of transparency, Eva. I know you and I haven't always seen eye to eye on things, but I promise you I'm not after anything nefarious here. I'm not wanting to make anyone question our legitimacy or our integrity. My goal is only to protect those who have never been in a leadership role like this before and giving them a chance to get a feel for it first.

We will provide transcripts.

We haven't, and we likely never well. One can protect them and still have an open meeting. Set aside a few carriages next to the meeting car, have it broadcast on those ICPs and have a time limit on the meeting. It's what they did when I became Champion at 13 years old.

Technically it was a closed meeting, but it was broadcast on TVs.

Look. I know I've been off the council for a while, but I'd say that we've got too many people who don't have to listen to you guys to have closed meetings any more. There's over a hundred people in here, and a lot of 'em didn't even know someone's calling themselves their leader until fifteen minutes ago.

So... have your vote, but something's gonna give.

Excuse you, I've been around plenty. I might be delegating some of the responsibilities like not doing all of the questionnaires because we were getting so many new people every platform, but I'd think you have to be deaf on this train if they didn't know who I was.

Look, no doubt you can act the leader, and you're helping a lot of people. That's great. But no one died and made you Primarch, so people are gonna have questions. And if you're gonna be leader, that involves coming up with a way to make everyone feel like they have a voice.

If I was 'Primarch'- whatever that is- wouldn't I have not allowed an election of representatives for the train in the first place? That's how they have a voice.

Tony, every platform we get ten to thirty new people, and just as many people leave. I don't know about the election, because I was ... with the conductor, or whatever it is people are calling it nowadays. But people are arriving who have no idea it ever took place, and the guys who voted are leaving just as fast as the ones who didn't. You can't just sit back and rest on it.

Do you not believe the hundred people who were here to not pick good people to represent them? We're doing the best we can with the tools we have. We can't have an election every month nor would that make sense when they don't know the people here to vote for them.

What we need is people like you to back us up and help generate some trust that this system is meant to be fair and helpful. It's been used by good people who you know have the well being of the people aboard at heart. You know me, Lightning. You can ask others, I did everything I could to make that election fair and just. I'm working to continue to do things that will benefit everyone and not abuse the power I've been given. I have no other motivation here. You have my word on that.

And I'm sorry you were gone. You were an asset on the council before.

Believe me, if I wasn't backing you, you'd know about it. [ She smiles, the expression twisted with challenge, and then it softens, and she sighs. ]

I'm not questioning the election, you know. I've heard nothing but good things. I'm saying that an open meeting wouldn't hurt. One that people can see, even if they can't speak up. Let 'em see you working for them.

[He breathes a laugh at that and nods. Yeah, he believes that whole-heartedly!

The rest, he takes a moment to mull it over.]

Do you see it as possible to keep people from interrupting? What do you propose is the best way to have them see the meeting?

Honestly? Like a talkshow. Let people in if they want, sit yourselves somewhere visible. Take breaks for questions or points, but tell 'em to keep it down otherwise.

[ she's been thinking about this a bit in the last half hour, apparently. ]

If people interrupt, send them out... if they're just doing it to disrupt you, anyway.

And you've made snide remarks about me being a leader this whole conversation. However, I'm not saying it has to be my way or no way.

As it is, I don't think you and I have anything left to discuss. You're not willing to work with me and I tire of dealing with you. So I'll see what others have to say and we can decide if we need a vote or not.

Hey, you're doing better than I did. He didn't dismiss everything you said as wanting in my pants.

By the way, think anyone will notice his public lying about how he doesn't dismiss people until they give him reason?

I've dealt with people like him before.

It's all public anyway, but it's not recorded, which means it'll end up being his word against us, but hopefully enough people have heard this. Plus, the more people we get, the more views w will have and more people who won't know who he s. And Lightening-san's right. Something will give and no one voted him in as leader. He declared himself it from the start.

So when fall out happens, it will be messy.

[A tired, tired sigh.] I don't even want him as council moderator. It's a direct conflict of views and he says the meeting will be chaos and it likely will be because you can't be a moderator and a voice on the council. It doesn't work like that in any government system I know of.

Depends on what the Council tries to do. I've been saying from the beginning that as soon as they actually attempt to do something major...

Yeah. But a council is better, in some ways. In other ways, it's... a pain.

I'm recording all of the meetings, though, no matter what happens, and I will be making those transcripts public, along with the recording.
