video from greenhouse

[ As usual, Gyousou has been visiting the greenhouse to check on the small plant from his world. Which, in turn, has led him to some navel-gazing. ]

I have been thinking recently on the future of this journey of ours. Preparation is key for any venture, and perhaps we have been too reactionary... We are able to purchase animals and supplies, but perhaps it might be worthwhile to request a riboku, so that we might grow animals of our own and gain some self-sufficiency. I'm not familiar with customs for the creation of a riboku outside of my own land, but in Tai the village would assemble in a festival gathering, so that their prayers may all be heard.

[ He smiles slightly, expression wry. ] Ordinarily, we would also register the settlement on the divine lists... but here I suppose notifying the train itself would work just as well.

[OoC: Threads can and will be threadjacked by Taiki as he tries to do cultural damage control, let me know in your tag if that's not okay!]

I see. So, if a branch doesn't grow a ranka -the egg of the child?- it could be likened to infertility or, well, barrenness.

[Not the most pleasant of thoughts, considering she does want a child one day, but it is what it is.]

What's a shoku storm?

[He nods at Eva, he guesses it is a bit like barrenness or infertility but different in another way. He is not sure what reasons the gods would have for denying a child.]

It is a storm or a calamity that is caused when our world and another world, called earth, clash together. Sometimes people from earth are blown over into our world during those storms and sometimes ranka are blown from our world into earth.

[Eva nods in understanding; her world has very real gods, too.] The gods do as they will, that much I know as truth. I do hope those the vast majority do end up with a child in the end.

[She likes happy endings.] Is there no way to predict these shoku storms and thus protect the ranka? Or is it deemed impossible?

[personal profile] longforgottenpromise 2020-05-30 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
Um... I don't think so. [He glances at Gyousou and then back at Eva. He doubts it. Storms were unpredictable and if ranka could be lost even from the Shashinboku, guarded as it was then it was unlikely any riboku could be protected.]

That's... Damn. And I assume you've tried, too.

[There is the slightest of head tilts at 'taika' before Eva laughs a little. Womb-fruit. Makes a lot of sense, given what she knows.

...and now she's wondering how many names Taki has, or if that's some sort of title. Eh, she'll go with the one she knows.]

Either way, I'm glad you made it back to your world, Taiki-san.
longforgottenpromise: (confused)

[personal profile] longforgottenpromise 2020-06-05 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Taiki-san sounds weird, a mash of his two worlds that startles him slightly but he tries not to show the discomfort on his face and doesn't say anything. He knows Eva is being polite and doesn't want to meet that with rudeness.]

Thank you Iden'no-san. I was very lucky.
mtsilver_conquor: (Umm I didn't do it)

/slowpoke noises even I love this thread.

[personal profile] mtsilver_conquor 2020-06-10 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
I don't want to be forward-

[Wait, what?

And now Eva really looks like a deer in the headlights -or a common-born woman so out of her depth when it comes to rank, both literal and social, that is so far above her head it's not funny-, eyes wide as she stares at Taiki.

And then the deepest, most formal bow ever to him.]

Forgive me for being so forward and rude towards you.

[That is very much a formal register and tone.

Someone help before she dies of embarrassment.]
longforgottenpromise: (confused)

[personal profile] longforgottenpromise 2020-06-13 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't be sorry. [He reaches out to take her hands, to try and stop her being so worried and formal. He knows she is embarrassed and he doesn't want her to be.] It doesn't much matter here, this is a train not a court and not even Lord Gyousou expects people to stand on ceremony here.

[He smiles at her, trying to be reassuring.]
mtsilver_conquor: (Unsure of this path)

[personal profile] mtsilver_conquor 2020-06-18 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
Like non-Yamatan names, then. Yet - it- it's less that and um. [Breathe, don't panic. They're right; she's not one of their citizens. Gods and the Four- They're right. Don't overthink it, just accept. Another breath and she does her best to wrap the mantle of Champion about her.

Yet, even with the reassurance and grip on her hand, she's still unsure and still wishing the ground would swallow her up.]
To just use a name sans honorific is considered extremely forward and rude in my own culture, so I'll... I'll use Taiho.

[Look, she'd use Taiki-Taiho, but. Taiho is enough, probably.]
longforgottenpromise: (listening)

[personal profile] longforgottenpromise 2020-06-18 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
If... Sorry... If it is too strange for you. [He smiled gently at her.] When I was on earth I was called Takasato Kaname. So you can call me Takasato-san if you wish and I shall call you Iden'no-san.

[He doesn't want her to feel uncomfortable.

[personal profile] mtsilver_conquor 2020-06-27 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
From an outsider's point, I guess it would be. It's not, though. You have what you call him, and I'm an outsider anyway.

[There's a grin and shrug.] 'Taiho's a title that gives respect, yes? All that means is even if I used 'Takasato', I'd still be appending 'Taiho' to it as a mark of respect and showing the rank he has. My culture and upbringing dictate it.

It's the same with 'Gyousou-dono', where 'dono' is a title and mark of respect. There's also 'sama' but that's... complicated.

longforgottenpromise: (confused)

lets break Eva more, a fun game for all the family

[personal profile] longforgottenpromise 2020-06-27 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Gyousou-sama would be the more accurate." He said softly, "He is Tai-ou. The king of the kingdom of Tai."

mtsilver_conquor: (Umm I didn't do it)

/late :(

[personal profile] mtsilver_conquor 2020-07-09 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Like in... Emperor?

[Uhhhhhh. Let her... brain reboot, please. Eva.Exe has stopped working just a bit. Yet even when her brain does reboot, she still feels small and very, very out of her depth and there is a second or two were she thoroughly wishes Satoru was here right now.

Her boyfriend knew far, far more about any of this than she ever would.]

Um... I... I think 'dono' is higher than 'sama' in this case. It's archaic but it's what I use with the other nobility here. If that's ok of course!
longforgottenpromise: (confused)

is okay, shall we begin to wrap to get those sweet sweet points?

[personal profile] longforgottenpromise 2020-07-10 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, he is the emperor of Tai. [He nods and then nods again at her words. He is sure Lord Gyousou doesn't mind what he is called truly. Everyone is from different worlds and it can get pretty confusing.]

Thank you for your help though Iden'no-san.
mtsilver_conquor: (Default)

VERY Late but YES!

[personal profile] mtsilver_conquor 2020-08-27 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Um. That's an acceptable way to excuse herself if ever she heard one and there's a sharp inhal;e before she continues.]

It's no problem. I'm always willing to help and honestly, this was rather fun. Your world seems fascinating compared to mine. Though, if you don't mine, maybe I be excused?

[You know, before the fact she's been talking to an Emporer so casually catches up to her? Sometimes, coming from what is still a culture drenched in hierarchical roles is not the best thing in the world.]
