Expanding our skillsets seems to our advantage. Whatever bizarre situation we find ourselves in next, the more capable we are the less likely we are to get hurt. So with that in mind, does anyone want to learn how to be a wizard? My magic may not be the most powerful, but it is adaptable, and can be learned by anyone.
In theory. I've never tried to teach it to someone from another dimension and it might just not work, but it's not like we have any shortage of free time around here is it?
And then...
[She hesitates]
If... that doesn't sound like something you're interested in I DO have another, more unusual offer.
I've worked out the prototype of a spell that should be able to nearly instantly send a...a blob, for lack of a better word, of arcane energy from me to a target. The problem is, the target has to be animate or it can't lock on.
So...basically I need someone who's willing to get hit in the face with blasts of energy so I can test it out. Which I realize is a kind of unreasonable thing to ask someone, so if no one is willing to I'll just come up with something else. I have points, and I can make enchanted items, so I'm not above bribing people, if that's what it takes.
[A beat.]
Oh right that was the other thing! I can make enchanted items! Flying carpets and magic spectacles and other such fantastical things! If you can acquire the raw materials I need to make something, I will make it for you. If you have an idea of what you want, I will brainstorm with you over how that idea might translate into something I can actually make! Just get in touch with me. My name is Samata Mahto.
[BONUS ACTION PROMPT FOR GARRETT]
Samata had never actually met the thief she had spoken to in person, but he had told her that he could get her a jeweler's tool kit and, equally importantly, a big pile of silver. Silver was a critical component for making enchanted items. She wasn't sure why, but experimentation had determined that it could expand a person's odic field in strange ways, and also interact with magical currents.
Which was why she was knocking on the door of someone she had never met face to face. She'd worked with criminals before. This was fine.

"Anyway, that's not what we're here for, is it?" He said with an amused tone. He swung a pack off his back and pulled out some bits from inside. The dufflebag clearly held something larger inside but he would get to that later.
For now, the thief held out some jewelry towards Samata. "Silver."

She reached for the silver but hesitated for a moment before finally taking it from him. A decent pile. She could probably finish a few projects with this supply. "My thanks."
no subject
"You're welcome. And one more thing for you as well." Now Garrett opened up the bag more to show Samata what else was inside: a rolled up carpet.

"Ah right. I still haven't held up my end of the deal. I'll admit it may take me a bit longer than normal without a forge to shape the silver, but give me a week or two and I should be able to manage something."
She held out her hand (the flesh and blood one) for the duffel bag.

"I'm not worried about it. Really, I just want to see if it can be done. It sounded...interesting." And possibly fun. Not that he didn't believe her but he had never seen such a thing. But Ryslig had taught him that strange and magical items were a thing for some worlds. "By the way, if you need help with the silver I think some of the tools I picked up from the space station could be of use."
Unless she had picked up a tool kit from there herself, in which case she was set and just needed the time to work it all out. That was fair. He didn't know how long a magic spell took to make.

She just left it on the floor for the moment. "What kind of tools did you find? I did not find any myself. The mission kept me too busy."
no subject
"There were a lot of nice tool kits to pick up at the shielding station. A few basic things that must be universal, but also some really interesting ones that I've never seen before. At least one of them can heat metal fairly nicely." A multi-purpose wielding torch with what must have been its own internal power source though Garrett didn't know the details per se. He just nabbed what looked good, and space had a lot of tech that looked good.

Later. "It would probably cut the crafting time in half if I could borrow those tools..."
no subject
"Sure. I'll...have to go get them." He probably should have thought to bring them with him but really. It hadn't occurred to him despite the fact that he knew she would be working with metal. Dumb of him.

And I think we can call scene there?
