[Joscelin appears on screen the day after the aborted mission, looking far better now that Misa’s cured his black eye. All that remains is some faint, yellowish bruising on his cheekbone and a healed cut on his lower lip. His glasses are another story entirely. They were completely destroyed in the takeoff, and he’s not wearing them. He holds them up to the screen: they’ve snapped into two at the nosepiece, and one lens is a spiderweb of broken glass.]

I need someone to fix these.

[ Honestly, he was expecting them to get broken eventually but not this fast! ]

Bring'em by the medic car if you've not gotten them fixed and I'll see what I can do.

Yes, already. It’s not my fault that the train decided to fling me face-first into a luggage rack.

[He meets the Doctor in the infirmary sometime later, his glasses magically repaired by Piccolo, but still slightly bruised and battered despite Misa’s healing.

He seems preoccupied when the Doctor arrives, sitting in his accustomed spot on the examination table with a finger probing inside his mouth.]

[ The Doctor had just settled in for tea when Joss comes in and has to set his teacup down. He grabs a stethoscope from the drawer and small torch before moving over to the kid in question. ]

[ A quick scan from the screw driver to check vitals and he nods in approval. Some bruises still but over all, he's not really in worse condition than when he returned to the living. ]

Okay, let's take a look at that mouth since something's clearly bothering you.

I think I knocked a tooth loose when I hit the wall. I’m rather worried I’ll have a great, gaping hole in my mouth for the rest of my life.

[He opens his mouth wide and points to an upper canine, which is clearly about to fall out. It’s also clearly a baby tooth. Joscelin has forgotten quite a lot about being a child, it seems, and that includes the fact that he hasn’t yet lost all of his milk teeth.]

[ The Doctor nods in understanding before he takes a look. He at least has the decency to put on gloves before poking gently with his finger. ]

Well, this one was bound to to come loose anyway. [ he states, not sounding at all concerned. ] Have you ever lost a tooth before?

Not that I can recall. Can you put it back?

No, I'm afraid I can't. [ Well, maybe he could. He's never actually tried to put milk teeth back in. But with roots? Eh, he's guessing probably not. ] Even if I could, I wouldn't-that one's meant to fall out.

But don't worry-It'll grow back. Well, not that one. But another one. It's part of growing up-losing your teeth.

[Joscelin has to think about it, really think about it.]

...oh. I’m afraid I’d rather forgotten about that part.

[It’s a very strange feeling: this is proof that he is, in fact, beginning to age again. He’s going to grow up.]

I haven’t lost a tooth in nearly seven hundred years.

[ The Doctor watches him a moment before peeling the gloves off. ]

But! It does look like you picked up about three or four kilograms since I last checked-you're well on your way to solid foods yet. How's the inhaler, getting on alright?

[Solid foods! He certainly perks up at that. Cake is once again within his grasp.]

Haven’t had to use it that much; those pills you gave me seem to be working. I’m taking them once with breakfast and once with dinner.

[ He nods in approval, happy to hear it. ]

That's good. You really do seem to only have a mild case so with any luck you'll only ever need the pills.

How was it off the train though? Any troubles breathing?
