Egret Day 23 | council nomination & plug for his own candidacy | video
[ Curufin is sitting in the Garden Carriage beside one of the streams, with his notebook on his lap, and the book is overflowing with separate papers tucked into its pages. Some are drawings and diagrams, some are covered with writing. There is a pen still in his hand. He smiles into the ICP screen. ]
Hi, it seems I'm running for train council. Thanks to whoever nominated me, and here's my intro. I'll try to keep it brief.
For anybody who doesn't know me, I'm Curufin Fëanorion, which in Elvish just means "son of Fëanor." You might have met my parents, Fëanor and Nerdanel, respectively Team Red and Team Orange. You might also have met my brothers, Maedhros and Maglor, who are now gone from the train.
[ Brief moment of seriousness, but then he shakes it off and smiles again. ]
My qualifications are that I'm currently a co-leader in Team Orange, and I'm doing my best for the team and for the whole train. In my own world, I led troops in a great war against a great and malignant power, and that war lasted for centuries. Me and my brother Celegorm managed a territory that not only had to be a bulwark against that evil power, but was one of the most productive communities on the continent. We made dozens of products and sold, traded, or gave them away to whoever needed them. We managed a great deal of our war and our business by methods that were not authoritarian, but rather collaborative and cooperative.
I've lived in two worlds besides my own, and in the second of these, I perceived that the community might be threatened by fire at some point, so I started the Fire Brigade and recruited firefighters and others who had skills and talents we needed. We built our own equipment, including fire engines, and we fought one helluva big city-wide fire not many months later. In that world I was also a soldier and belonged to a military organization, and we had need of our skills often.
I'm not touting myself as a war leader [ yes he is! ], though of course, we are Void Warriors. I know how to give orders, but that's not what this community is about. We really are a community, and everyone's needs, hopes, aspirations, abilities, projects and enterprises counts.
If I'm elected, I promise I'll work with the other Council members and listen to and collaborate with my constituents, namely you, passengers and Void Warriors! I'll try to help you accomplish whatever is really important to all of us.

Hm, and do you think I should do as you do, my son, and list my merits? Ai! I would feel so overly indulgent.

I hardly think I have done much! But thank you for thinking so, my dear.

And you are biased, my son!
no subject
Who wouldn't be biased, being your son?
no subject
Does that not make you unqualified to judge?
no subject
I think that makes me more qualified to judge.
no subject
Very well then! I will trust in your judgement, shall I?
Wanna wrap this one too?
I'd be honored if you'd trust in my judgement, as I trust in yours.
