[Not even a half-hour after Webmind’s announcement ends, all the ICPs up and down the train start getting spammed with text messages. Sorry folks, but from what she’s gathered from past messages SXT-2 assumes you’re just allowed to tell the world every time you want to dump an ice bucket on your head. The above flashes on all the cabins, though there are some minor bugs- in one or two cabins maybe a font doesn’t show up properly, or there’s that hated [Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('< font=helvetica12px >') in entry] message.

Ten minutes later, SXT-2 starts testing messaging to specific ICPs. That’s even more spam. Whoof.]

Please let me know the location of your ICP device and the title of the sample paragraph below:

[Lacking a huge variety of documents with which to lift placeholder text from- that aren’t NDA’d at least- SXT-2 is resorting to newspaper clippings from her memory bank. Each carriage gets a unique message, detailed below:]

Luggage: A newspaper article titled “PRESS CONFERENCE: PRESIDENT CONFIDENT THAT ‘MUTANOID’ THREAT UNDER CONTROL”

Dressing: A newspaper article titled “6 KILLED, 42 INJURED IN WAREHOUSE FIRE TRAGEDY”

Sleepers... holy shit there are 36 ICPs across the 6 Sleeper Cabins: Various ‘lifestyle’ articles about celebrities, new food trends, movie reviews, etc.

Greenhouse: A newspaper article about Artificial Intelligence advancements that are being adopted in the banking industry.

Garden: A newspaper article about some politician that fucked up, because in every timeline there’s some politician doing that.

Games: A newspaper article titled “AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION DOWN 28% AS MUTANOID ATTACKS RAVAGE FARMS”.

Medical: A newspaper article titled “MAN ARRESTED FOR STREAKING IN GOVERNMENT OFFICE: ‘IT WAS DISAPPOINTING, I COULDN’T FIND ANYONE THAT WASN’T A F***ING ROBOT’’ ”

Gym: A newspaper article about some megacorporation’s acquisition of some other company.

Standard: A newspaper article about changes in environmental protection regulations.

Dining: A newspaper article titled “BRING DECEASED PETS BACK IN VR: FURRYLITE™ TECHNOLOGIES”

Stores: A newspaper article about the grand opening of a tourist resort built on a skyship, the fifth of its kind.
iamnotgod: Webmind projecting a smile. The robot is wearing an orange hoodie. (A smile!)

Please let me know as well if you encounter any problems accessing or reading messages, or if there is interference interacting with non-text posts on the Network.

[And, Webmind adds privately:]

Thank you for helping me beta-test this textchat program. Your assistance is much appreciated!

[Webmind takes the confusion in stride.]

Understood.

Uh, I hate to say this, but we can't actually reply in text.

Or at least I can't; better stay tuned to see if everyone else agrees.

[Or anyone else, for that matter. This might actually convince people to leave the ICPs alone, at least for a while.]

The messages you left were interesting but many and confusing.

[This is the closest she'll get to complaining about the spam.]

Very well. Since you asked, this is the message I first encountered, in the gym car. It was an article about some group acquiring another. 'Megacorporation', I believe, was the name. I did not understand much of that article.

Out of curiosity, I investigated the other cars and I found those messages, though a few did seem to have something amiss with them.

[She'll list out one by one the messages she found in which car she found them, as well as which ones appeared to have odd errors.]

[Merciless is rather good at memorizing things for a human, but she didn't use any of the memorization techniques she was taught on those messages and it especially didn't help that she didn't understand much of the content.]

I am truly glad to be of service!
