Video: Day 4

[ Evie's in the kitchen, which should surprise no one. She likes it in here. She can't do any sewing since the dressing car is always empty unless needed for missions, so she throws herself into her next favorite hobby: cooking.

And in doing so, she's come upon a great idea for everyone. Not just her team. She has a grin on her face as she speaks, also not something uncommon for Evie. The princess is made of kindness, empathy and patience. So she has an offer for the train at large. ]

So, I've been thinking. Cooking is one of our chores on a rotational basis. This month, it's purple team.

[ Evie's team. ]

I know not everyone knows how to cook, and while we always seem to make things work almost perfectly, I'm wondering if anyone would like some cooking lessons? I've been cooking since I was three and would love to teach anyone willing to learn, whether you're on my team or not.

If anyone's good with baking, and wouldn't mind volunteering time to teach people how to bake, please feel free. No one wants me baking, I promise.

That's another reason I'm doing this. I don't like not having something important to do. I used to make clothes for friends back home, whether it be for royal balls or fancy events.

I miss having projects.

Feel like I should apologize upfront. 'Bout to get real cranky with nothin' to do.

I've grown up around people whose only setting is 'real cranky'. I'm used to it.

Bet you wrapped them around your finger, huh?

[ Shes not. She could charm a smile out of some of the worst people. ]

Do you know how to make tarts?

Savory tarts, yes. And a good apple one.

What's an apple?

It's a type of fruit. There are so many varieties. They can either be really sweet, or really sour. I prefer the honecrisp apples.

Oh. We can't get the fruit here that I like. I don't have enough points yet.

How many points do you need?

Twenty five. Since I want something specific from home.

I need to check the store more often. I had no idea we could order stuff from home.

You can! I think you just have to be real specific and describe it? I am going to get a make up kit and the Bothan fruit when I get enough points.

I know how to cook, but I'm a little out of practice. I could stop by once or twice.

Onion stew, onion bread, or onion pasta?

Can you teach me how to make onion bread? My baking skills are, for some reason, terrible.

I realize this was an offer for me to teach others, but I don't see why we can't learn from each other.

I think I can handle it. I used to bake for my brother. Sneaking into the kitchens at night...bread takes a few hours, that made it difficult. But a lesson here is fine.

Cooking was not among the skills I was taught, growing up. It was assumed I'd have servants for that sort of thing.

It's probably something I'll have to learn now, though. Even if I'm not purple.

We had goblins back in my mothers castle that did all the baking. Mother made sure I knew how to cook, but her reasoning was...not the best.

Oh, it's fine. I'll teach anyone. The first thing you're learning is hot chocolate.

Uh.. just like pasta and instant noodles, that kinda thing. Oh! I can also heat up soups. If I have a recipe I should be able to at least manage something edible. The same cannot be said for Aunt May.

Yeah... you don't want him near any regular appliances.

Has he cooked here before?

I'm actually not sure if he has. He's not on my team, so I haven't a clue.

Yeah, he's red, but I still like to keep tabs. Old habits and all that.

I can bake if you have a recipe?

Sadly, I'm not much of a baker.

[ Man, if Jay or Carlos or Mal were here, they could tell everyone about the time Evie made cupcakes using every single on the periodic table. Someone told her baking was like chemistry. So she went for it. ]
