[Sometime after breakfast on the fourth day of Rabbit, a voice message plays over the network.]

Hello. My apologies if I am interrupting anyone in the midst of something important. Some of you may already know me, but for those who do not, my name is Rezo, and I have a favor to ask of you.

In my own world I devoted much of my time to researching magic and since being recruited by the train I have heard a few things about the abilities that some of you have. While it seems magic, or some concept thereof, is quite common among the various worlds, the way it works and the extent of what a person can do varies considerably.

I confess I have found myself rather curious about all this. Thus, if any of you are willing to speak with me about your own abilities and the magic systems that you have experience with, I would appreciate it if you would contact me. I will be staying near the ICP in the standard coach for much of today, if you would prefer to speak in person.

Of course, I understand that some of you may wonder what is in this for you. Worry not. I have rewards prepared for anyone who is willing to indulge my curiosity, and I shall compensate you accordingly.

[[ooc: since lore dumping and technical talk isn't necessarily everyone's jam feel free to do some handwaving if you think your character would respond to Rezo's request but you don't feel up to going into/making up a bunch of weird details.

and if you're wondering what the reward will be, it's a sticker.]]

[Rubbing at his chin, Faux listens carefully, taking care to note Rezo's need for further observations] Sure.

Lea and Xion seem to have similar magic. They may be from the same world. Their magic is based on 'elements'; fire, ice, wind, lightning. Each individual has an inherent 'type' they have aptitude for, however it seems as long as one has a teacher, they are not limited to learning more.

Lea performed a wind based attack as a demonstration in the training hall; calling out Aero. It then enveloped the training dummy with a white cyclonic wind and lifted if off the ground.

Xion too has performed magic of similar caliber, including fire based attacks, and even a strong healing spell that affected multiple individuals at once, including myself. [Not destructive but impressive in his eyes]

Each of them used destructive magic in a more combat orientated way with inclusion of their weapons. I am unable to ascertain if the weapon itself is needed or is simply an accessory. Lea performed Aero with only his hand, Xion though used her blade weapon as a point of focus.

Tidus has also performed combat attacks utilizing a combination of his weapon in conjunction with water based and support magic. No pure destructive magic were observed, however the one support ability he utilized centered around me with a purple flash and seemed to speed up my processes for a short duration. The other temporarily paralyzed an enemy.

Several other crewmates; Raven and Nozmi, have shown off destructive magic-like abilities in combat, however I am unable to ascertain if these were magic or some sort of other inherent user abilities. More data will be necessary for a proper analysis.

[Now back to divination] I know that Lea also mentioned knowing some magic for information gathering, [A sigh escapes him, sounding a little dejected] Unfortunately he didn't show me that one. [It's a pity he can't learn some of that!]

Bruno also sees the future. But I believe that's just an ability he has, rather than magic. He seemed pretty unhappy with informing others of negative future events. I think that's a handy source of data. Why would anyone not want to know what bad things will happen to you in advance? At least you know it's coming. [Users do tend not to like being constrained by things]

[Annnd that was a lot... hopefully Rezo is still on the other side]

Does black magic go by another term? Variations of terminology may help me hone future observations. [Is he still there?]

[A sound of what could be a writing implement clacks. He nods again at Rezo's explanation, a thing he keeps doing]

So 'black magic' is a variation of summoning magic. I will keep an ear out for the word mazoku then.

Do you require me to broaden my observations for more specific supplemental criteria, in addition to the aforementioned subjects of your preference?

[He could even ask around if that would help Rezo's task]
