Day 19 | Video | Incoming missive

[Towards the evening of day nineteen of the month of Quicksand there is an announcement.]

Voidtreckers and Passengers of the Voidtrecker Express. We are receiving a communication attempt from the Void Ministry. Please stand by.

[The ICP screens crackle for a few moments, before it settles and a picture emerges, of a young woman sat at a desk. She looks a little bit nervous behind her professional smile.]

Greetings crew of the Voidtrecker Express. My name is Lia Nine, I am a junior minister under Commander Orlaith and she asked me to follow up on the reports that you submitted following your mission on system #5739. Thank you for those who filled them out, I know paperwork can be tedious but it does help us monitor situations.

[She moves her hands on the desk, as if she is using a computer or tablet device on her desk.]

I hope this isn't a bad time but I have around an hour if any of your crew are available to talk. There were a couple of queries your crew had so I'll go through those first.

I've got a report from a Yondu Udonta of the blue team asking about the bio fusions and what causes them. It's basically the void itself. Organic matter is not made to move through the void, that's why we have voidcraft and why anchoring takes so much mental energy. I can elaborate if anyone wants the science in more depth.

He also asked about setting your SCAs up to register Blutz waves. I've looked in my databases but can't find any energy waves called Blutz. Are they system specific?

I filled an equipment request form out on your behalf but can't promise anything. Elidibus I have also filled a book request for you for the information you seek.

Bruno Madrigal of the Blue team and Thanatos of the Red team I will happily speak to you about your requests.

Tidus I've passed your request about a communication line to the ministry on. Faux I am not sure there is anything to be concerned about regarding the alphabetical nature of the months. Most voidcraft have a simple time monitoring system that is based on what would be natural to their crew.

Faux also mentioned your craft was in need of maintenance. Do you have any details on that?

[She looked up from her tablet.] I think that's all the questions but I've got an hour if anyone has any more for me. While we're at it I wanted to ask for a report on the experiment with your tethers. We have some data from the site but I don't think anyone has actually asked you what happened yet.

[OOC: If you were planning for your character to have filled out a report for the mission and hadn't yet it is not too late. Even though Lia only has an hour IC there is no such thing as too late to this post OOCly! If you don't have time or don't wish to do an NPC thread but feel your character would say something feel free to give us a quick summary in the top level below!]

Is there a way to find that out? Look through the SCA's location data, or something? I could ask Voidy, but it might take a while to answer.

[He frowns at the answer he receives.] Let me see who else I remember... or maybe I can ask Than if he has a copy of the list he made.

... other than that, I can't think of anything else to report. Voidy doesn't trust you Ministry types, but I think it dislikes anyone who might try to impede it from finding its original lost crew.

I'll ask, but I don't know when they'll respond. Is there a place I can send that information once Voidy answers?

No. Voidy... well, they did mention something in their last missive to us answering our questions that I found troubling. Here, I think I have the missive somewhere... I think I caught most of it with the note taking function - ah, here it is.

[Zagreus starts skimming the document on his screen, then clears his throat once he's found something relevant.]

In regards to our earlier topic about what platforms we've visited, Voidy said the following. You, uh, might want to note these down, there are a lot of them. Anyway, here it goes: HDA738, HFI348, IL89, OI908, BNB89, MH29199, BG819, OQ124, TT728, UY71, VCG909, QWE91, PP0194, QRE898, TR888, IRG423, GH88, SDS999, VCN111, RUH8889, KJH985, SF937, YGT77, FGH8989, WWW9, GFH8808, FA56, UDS65, CX99999, IP097, HGA0923, YT746, FDA988, BN97134, QWP472. Hope that helps with your records.

And in regards to the crew... there's a lot here, so I'll mostly summarize, but quote the important bits. [He scrolls down a little to find the appropriate section.]

Lady Leia asked if any of the old crew had visions... it seems the crew from Thistea heard a... void song?... and also had dreams before missions. Ah, here's the part I was thinking about - "Voidtrecker Wuxian Wei asked about the old crew and what happened. This is still something I am piecing together find them find them". To just cut in with that... Voidy sounded... I don't know. Desperate? Scared? It worries me.

A lot of Voidtreckers also asked about Voidy's motives, priorities, and so forth... Voidy said, "I believe we all want the same thing. I wish to find my crew. New and old who have been lost to me. I wish to discover the truth and I wish my crew happiness".

So I know Voidy isn't being malicious in all of this. They just want to find their old crew, and they did try to return us to our worlds, even though it didn't go so well! I don't think they actively have it out for the Ministry, if that helps. But I'm not sure Voidy has any answers about what happened to them, so we're certainly not going to have answers either. Sorry about that, Minister Lia.

Voidy also mentioned Enrara in the same breath as Thistea, or the same figurative breath, anyway. Presumably that's the case, although I can't be for sure, seeing as Voidy seems to have a hard time remembering back that far.

About that, actually. Is there any recorded history of this happening to a Voidcraft before? The missing time, I mean. Could it be that whatever passes for Voidy's brain got some sort of Void Sickness, or something?

... so presumably whatever happened to Voidy's old crew was a disaster large enough for Voidy to either forget what happened, or suppress their own memories of what happened.

If you find any information about Enrara or Thistea, please pass it along. We might be able to get to the bottom of this with your help.

If it was a disaster bad enough to make Voidy forget, is it possible everyone else involved forgot too? I hate to suppose off the bat that they all died... maybe they are out there, they just can't access Voidy, or can't remember how to.

[Ever the optimist, this one!]

Well, there's no point speculating on something we don't know anything about, when you've only got an hour. Thank you for your time, Minister Nine.

If there's anything else we Voidtreckers can do for you, be sure to let Voidy know. Is there anything else you wanted to ask, before I let you go?
