[Towards the evening of day nineteen of the month of Quicksand there is an announcement.]

Voidtreckers and Passengers of the Voidtrecker Express. We are receiving a communication attempt from the Void Ministry. Please stand by.

[The ICP screens crackle for a few moments, before it settles and a picture emerges, of a young woman sat at a desk. She looks a little bit nervous behind her professional smile.]

Greetings crew of the Voidtrecker Express. My name is Lia Nine, I am a junior minister under Commander Orlaith and she asked me to follow up on the reports that you submitted following your mission on system #5739. Thank you for those who filled them out, I know paperwork can be tedious but it does help us monitor situations.

[She moves her hands on the desk, as if she is using a computer or tablet device on her desk.]

I hope this isn't a bad time but I have around an hour if any of your crew are available to talk. There were a couple of queries your crew had so I'll go through those first.

I've got a report from a Yondu Udonta of the blue team asking about the bio fusions and what causes them. It's basically the void itself. Organic matter is not made to move through the void, that's why we have voidcraft and why anchoring takes so much mental energy. I can elaborate if anyone wants the science in more depth.

He also asked about setting your SCAs up to register Blutz waves. I've looked in my databases but can't find any energy waves called Blutz. Are they system specific?

I filled an equipment request form out on your behalf but can't promise anything. Elidibus I have also filled a book request for you for the information you seek.

Tidus I've passed your request about a communication line to the ministry on. Faux I am not sure there is anything to be concerned about regarding the alphabetical nature of the months. Most voidcraft have a simple time monitoring system that is based on what would be natural to their crew.

Faux also mentioned your craft was in need of maintenance. Do you have any details on that?

[She looked up from her tablet.] I think that's all the questions but I've got an hour if anyone has any more for me. While we're at it I wanted to ask for a report on the experiment with your tethers. We have some data from the site but I don't think anyone has actually asked you what happened yet.

[OOC: If you were planning for your character to have filled out a report for the mission and hadn't yet it is not too late. Even though Lia only has an hour IC there is no such thing as too late to this post OOCly! If you don't have time or don't wish to do an NPC thread but feel your character would say something feel free to give us a quick summary in the top level below!]

( hey, at least he was polite first...! as it is, he nods, arms crossed over his chest as he sighs. heavily. annoyedly. and gets to verbally reporting, in a way that might not be void ministry familiar, but clearly is practised in some other organisation's form. )

At the time of the occurrence, the Voidtrecker Express had stated it believed there was a means of sending people to their homes, trying to effectively untether so they'd return to their physical forms. If they had one.

( he uncrosses his arm to wave one around, not to dismiss the notion so much as to dismiss that as being his present point. )

We were all allowed off on the platform for a period of time to say goodbyes, that sort of thing, and then those of us choosing to stay were to be on the Voidtrecker Express. Those who were aiming to be sent back to where they'd been abducted from were to stay on the platform. I was on the Voidtrecker Express speaking with Tidus when the train began closing doors, to prepare to exit into the Void.

( he pauses, definitely scowling for a moment, then gives a small roll of his shoulders to loosen them up. )

Myself and a number of others who were likewise on the Voidtrecker Express found ourselves forcibly transported to the platform, left outside the Voidtrecker Express. Which repeatedly attempted to leave, paid no heed to being hit by a windstorm sent full bore on it, didn't interface with any of us at all. Which yeah, most on the platform at that time wanted to try and get home, but none of us could, and a number of people there don't have a place to be, or a body to be in, and for many it's because they were forcibly extracted and tethered to the Voidtrecker Express.

( people had nowhere to go. this actively bothered him then, and still does now, as might be visible in his features. )

At first we were sent to either our worlds, or from some people I heard, to a fog... to someplace that isn't a place, because their tethers didn't have a connection on the other end. I assume that's the case, from the people I knew of having that issue. Even those of us who had access back to our home systems were contained in a fifteen li distance of our body, and weren't visible to most people without actively trying to make ourselves known. My case was different, cultivators have spiritual sensitivity, and dragon souled even more, but even then it wasn't easy for people to simply know I was there. And I couldn't connect with my physical self. I saw me, I groomed me, but I couldn't merge back in with myself.

( he pulls back, then returns to more categorically listing concerns. )

If we accompanied others to their tether homes, we encountered the same situations. We weren't obvious or visible until we made an attempt, but we could interact with the world itself and the people there. We couldn't leave that zone, regardless of whose world, and we couldn't bring anything from any world back to the platform, though we could return to the platform. Where there were no supplies, not food or water or a latrine of any kind, nothing to sleep on or under. A barren staging ground for what seemed to be, I don't know, in some cases people said two sevendays passed before the realms we were in destabilised so much that the Voidtrecker Express sent people in anchor pairs to bring us back.

It sounds like a very distressing time for all involved. Especially for those who had no where to go and were forced off your craft.

Anchoring is no small task either, was everyone able to be returned to your craft?

I didn't hear that we lost anyone to the anchoring thing, but it exhausted everyone again.

Yes it takes a lot of energy. Most people train for a long time before attempting anchoring, especially more advanced anchoring.

Yeeeeah we don't have that. Even after the whole... Illusion Diagad thing with Chaos? I anchored then too, Anan asked us to do as we could. We didn't manage to bring everyone out of there before it collapsed, but...

Anyway, there's far less than millions on this vessel, we were all recontained. The ones we lose have all been lost to tether breaks at platform.

Yes, for an untrained crew you have done remarkably well. Though it is concerning to hear you lost more crew at the last platform. Hopefully we will be able to get a read on what is happening there soon.

We seem to have been losing more than people get pulled in, but at some point we obviously had more being pulled in than going, or we wouldn't have so many people here. It doesn't make sense either way.

Yes from the data we've been given by various members of your crew it seems to be that way. You have more losses now, less gains. But there were other times when many were pulled in. I guess figuring out what is going on with however the train is doing that... Is the first step to fixing things.

Yeah, figure out how the summons is happening, work to undo it or whatever. Though the Voidtrecker says it doesn't remember how that happened, only that it did after the loss of its system, when its official, actually trained people went missing. So seems like whatever they did? Might be part of the cause.

Yes, it seems we know its world was lost and that it gathered the first of your crew but there is a lot missing in the middle there.

[How had it gotten from one state to another.]

Missing from it's memory too. Is there anyway for it to get that memory back?

I'm unsure. It depends how it is missing, how deep that goes. Voidcrafts are machines, even if they are also more, so there might be back ups... It's a whole lot of unknowns right now.

... what's a backup in this context?

Perhaps data back up, files and such but also, with how voidcraft are. They are created from void metal. That holds... experiences to put it simply. A voidcraft holds the experience of its crews, so that incident is likely somewhere. Finding it though... May not be easy. It's not as if we can read void metal like we would a data file.

Isn't that just a different skill? Coaxing memories from locations instead of minds?

A different skill yes. One that requires a lot more cooperation from a voidcraft than looking up data files. But that is perhaps a good thing.

Maybe, or maybe not, given what bullshit we deal with regularly. Ugh, if there's anyone like that, can they contact the Voidtrecker Express and offer their services, for the sake of its crews?

I'll ask around, I've got a list of things I need to follow up on. [That can easily be added. This list is getting long.]
