[Towards the evening of day nineteen of the month of Quicksand there is an announcement.]

Voidtreckers and Passengers of the Voidtrecker Express. We are receiving a communication attempt from the Void Ministry. Please stand by.

[The ICP screens crackle for a few moments, before it settles and a picture emerges, of a young woman sat at a desk. She looks a little bit nervous behind her professional smile.]

Greetings crew of the Voidtrecker Express. My name is Lia Nine, I am a junior minister under Commander Orlaith and she asked me to follow up on the reports that you submitted following your mission on system #5739. Thank you for those who filled them out, I know paperwork can be tedious but it does help us monitor situations.

[She moves her hands on the desk, as if she is using a computer or tablet device on her desk.]

I hope this isn't a bad time but I have around an hour if any of your crew are available to talk. There were a couple of queries your crew had so I'll go through those first.

I've got a report from a Yondu Udonta of the blue team asking about the bio fusions and what causes them. It's basically the void itself. Organic matter is not made to move through the void, that's why we have voidcraft and why anchoring takes so much mental energy. I can elaborate if anyone wants the science in more depth.

He also asked about setting your SCAs up to register Blutz waves. I've looked in my databases but can't find any energy waves called Blutz. Are they system specific?

I filled an equipment request form out on your behalf but can't promise anything. Elidibus I have also filled a book request for you for the information you seek.

Bruno Madrigal of the Blue team and Thanatos of the Red team I will happily speak to you about your requests.

Tidus I've passed your request about a communication line to the ministry on. Faux I am not sure there is anything to be concerned about regarding the alphabetical nature of the months. Most voidcraft have a simple time monitoring system that is based on what would be natural to their crew.

Faux also mentioned your craft was in need of maintenance. Do you have any details on that?

[She looked up from her tablet.] I think that's all the questions but I've got an hour if anyone has any more for me. While we're at it I wanted to ask for a report on the experiment with your tethers. We have some data from the site but I don't think anyone has actually asked you what happened yet.

[OOC: If you were planning for your character to have filled out a report for the mission and hadn't yet it is not too late. Even though Lia only has an hour IC there is no such thing as too late to this post OOCly! If you don't have time or don't wish to do an NPC thread but feel your character would say something feel free to give us a quick summary in the top level below!]

Hola, Señora Nine. I'm Bruno Madrigal. I was told when I first ended up here that the ministry might have a way to contact my family back home and let them know I'm OK? I'm sure they're all probably worried... I mean, who wouldn't be, under the circumstances, you know?

So I guess... what would you need me to do to be able to do that? I'll do whatever I can to help.

[He's not gonna run off and leave his familia again if he can help it.]

Greetings Bruno Madrigal. [Finally a name, considering how many of these voidtreckers have burst in with questions and no introductions.]

That is... theoretically possible. It might take us a while to find them though. Do you have a system number? Coordinates for whereabouts in your system your family live would be useful too but failing that then just any information you have.

Brunotries not to look too disapointed at the knowledge that it may take awhile, but nods understandingly regardless. The multi-verse is a big place, after all.]

I don't know the system number, sorry. It's Earth though. Or an Earth, I guess, since apparently there's more than one? Anyway, we live in a country called Columbia. I could probably narrow it down a lot more with a map; you won't find our little village anywhere on it- I'm pretty sure the rest of the world doesn't even know it's there, which was sort of on purpose-, but I know about where the town my mamà grew up in was, and it's less than a day's walk from there.

What might really help though is if you have some kind of way of tracking down magic. Cause well, our house and most of my family have magic, and I doubt you'd find any anywhere else in Columbia. Maybe even in the whole world.

[A way to track magic might be a long shot, but with everything he's seen, even just in his short time aboard the train? A magic detector seems as plausible as anything else.]

There's a lot of worlds called Earth Bruno Madrigal. But I can note those numbers down, earth, Columbia. Do you know the name of the village your mamà grew up in?

If you are the only ones with magic in your whole world then that will help with tracking them down.

Sorry, just a minute; Tidus just said I can ask the train what my system number is.

[Looks up at the ceiling.]

Um, train? Can you tell me what my system number is, por favor?

[There's a pause before the voice of the train announcement speaks up.]

[Lia smiles encouragingly at him.] That's a good start.

Alma's hometown's name is never mentioned in the movie, so... /handwaves

[Bruno smiles back a little less nervously.]

OK... OK, good. Good starts are good. And you wanted to know the town my mamà was from? Let's see... I think it was... [Bruno has to think a moment, as it's been quite awhile since she'd mentioned it, but soon supplies the name of the town.]

Hopefully it's still there; she and the rest of our encanto's original residents didn't leave there by choice, ya see. The town was attacked and they had to flee, and well... no one's really been able to go back and check since then. But even if it's not there any more, you could probably at least find where it used to be.

Okay I can note that and you say your home is within a days walk. Do you know what direction?

[Hopefully if he is right about the magic then it should be findable like that, but any information is a good thing.]

[Bruno shakes his head.]

Sorry, no. But I know they had to cross a river to get to where the encanto is now, and the reason it's hard to get to is that it's surrounded by tall mountains. The mountains weren't there at first and sort of just sprouted up when my family was first given our magic. So if there's a river, and some tall mountains that maybe look a bit out of place compared to the rest of the landscape, you're probably going the right way.

[A river, magically growing mountains. Not actually the weirdest thing she's heard of but it's up there.] We will do our best to find it.

[As for what he wants the message to say, he thinks about it for a moment.]

Tell them... Tell them that I'm sorry for worrying them all. That I miss them all, but I'm OK, and I'll do my best to get back home as soon as I can. Probably with lots of stories to tell.

And if they need proof that the message is from me, they can tell them about the time when my sisters and I were 11, and we were making mamà breakfast in bed to surprise her for her birthday. I accidentally caught part of my shirt on fire, and Pepa had to put me out. Then we all had to scramble to clean up the mess and get things ready before she woke up. Even if mamà doesn't remember the breakfast, Pepa and Julieta will definitely remember the mess we made.

[The damaged shirt was why he'd started wearing raunas again, after all.]

[She smiled faintly as she wrote it all down diligently. It was useful to have proof after all.]

Thank you. Is there anything else we should know? Anything we should avoid? Does your world have technology such as trains- ordinary ones that is? Do all the people share your species?

All the people there are human, yeah. And there are regular trains. None in the Encanto, but most people there would at least know what one is, I think. As for things to avoid, there's some dangerous animals in the jungle- like jaguars and snakes- but not much to worry about from the people; the Encanto's a pretty peaceful place.
