Announcement | Day 17

Greetings Voidtreckers and Passengers of the Voidtrecker Express.

I know it has taken a while but I have finished compiling the answers to the questions asked during the month of Orchestra. Some answers were unknown to me, and there were others that I believe we discovered the answers to together in the attempt to return you to your home worlds.

Voidtrecker Thanatos asked if you could go home and Voidtrecker Xehanort asked why you could not be released temporarily to help your own worlds. I believe we now know that your tethers are not acting in a way that means you can be released. There have been requests to go to your worlds altogether, to mission there. However, that is something I would be wary of. With the unstable nature of your link to your world there could be unintended side effects to us moving through voidspace into your systems. It is a different risk to your attempt to leave through the platforms and the subsequent anchoring that was done.

Passenger Tidus asked what the risks were, of this and other ways of helping. There are many. Some I am willing to take, such as trusting the voidtrecker's judgement on the void ministry. Others I will not risk. I will not risk causing more harm to you or your worlds.

Voidtrecker Senku Ishigami asked what counted as a catastrophe mission and why his own world didn't count as one given the catastrophic nature of events there. There are many worlds that are lost beyond saving, but when the Voidtrecker Express answers a catastrophe certain criteria must be answered. The system must have experienced an absolute loss of life or world structure, and the outcome must be capable of changing within the narrow parameters possible to this Voidcraft.

For this Voidcraft, it means that within a five hour window of the point of catastrophe a change in circumstances could alter the outcome significantly. Unfortunately this means that worlds such as Voidtrecker Senku Ishigami's do not count for us to undertake as a catastrophe mission, even if the previously mentioned concerns about taking you to your own systems were overcome.

Voidtrecker Masumi Sera and Voidtrecker Wuxian Wei asked for their home system numbers. Those are #723621103903001111111 and #7391048572057029919999

Voidtrecker Seto Kaiba asked for the numbers of platforms that we have visited in the time of your journey on the voidtrecker express. These are HDA738, HFI348, IL89, OI908, BNB89, MH29199, BG819, OQ124, TT728, UY71, VCG909, QWE91, PP0194, QRE898, TR888, IRG423, GH88, SDS999, VCN111, RUH8889, KJH985, SF937, YGT77, FGH8989, WWW9, GFH8808, FA56, UDS65, CX99999, IP097, HGA0923, YT746, FDA988, BN97134, QWP472.

There were many questions about tethers. Voidtrecker Masumi Sera asked how tethers worked and I believe that was subsequently covered in the reading material supplied by Ministry Representative ID #0011-0000-000-333. This also has a piece on void law which was requested by Voidtrecker Zagreus.

Voidtrecker Senku Ishigami asked what made your tethers unstable and that is not an answer I currently have. I have theories. You come from non void active worlds and the correct procedures for tethering to a voidcraft were not followed. Therefore there seems to be a flaw in all parts of the tether, affecting your connection to this voidcraft- hence why passengers are so often lost. There is also your connection to your anchor point- hence why it is not possible to return you home.

Voidtrecker Senku Ishigami also asked how the tethers could be made stable, and Voidtrecker Devero asked how your tethers could be strengthened, and how people could be tethered or tethered voluntarily. This is something that will require more research as an answer has not been found by this voidcraft. I believe in their final missive, commander Orlaith of the void ministry spoke of data collected from platform FDA988 that the ministry scientists are working on. Voidtrecker Leia Skywalker Organa Solo asked about how animals are tethered. This is a simplified version of your own tether but works fundamentally the same way. The differences are that they are linked to your own tether, and share the life support systems of your SCA.

Voidtrecker Devero also asked that if I had a trained crew would they be able to use the instruments on board in order to stop me from collecting voidtreckers. This is an answer I am unsure of. What has happened to you appears to be unprecedented so it is unlikely even a trained voidcrew would be able to fix things.

Voidtrecker Tobirama Senju asked if losing tethers affected me as a voidcraft. The answer to that is yes. Voidcraft do not experience emotions in the same way that voidtreckers do but there is a profound loss when tethers are lost. There is much of me that is missing, scattered across the void. They are irreplaceable. You know this, they are your friends after all. Voidtrecker Jingyi Lan, I believe this answers your question of if I even care about you as my crew.

Voidtrecker Ryo, Voidtrecker Daniel Fenton, Voidtrecker Senku Ishigami and Voidtrecker Leia Skywalker Organa Solo all asked how I came to pick you. This is something I cannot fully explain. Because to do so would require understanding of how I see, how I sense and how I interact with the void. Words can't explain this. But in each of your systems you were a bright spark and something inside you answered my call. I speak only truth when I say every voidtrecker matters and brings something important to this crew.

Voidtrecker Elidibus asked why you were brought here without consent and that I can only apologise for. I do not know how my systems were changed and the safeguards removed. I should not be able to bring voidtreckers to this train without them going through the correct procedures. I must bring you, though. I must collect heroes and save worlds. It is my purpose.

Voidtrecker Nozomi and Voidtrecker Kabuto Yakushi asked what voidsickness was. I would like to direct any voidtreckers who have not read it to this information piece.

Voidtrecker Ryo and Voidtrecker Thanatos asked what the criteria for teams was and Voidtrecker Ryo asked if it was possible to switch teams. What makes a team member suitable is a range of criteria. Former voidtreckers were tested and interviewed before being placed. I must make quicker judgments on newer voidtreckers. A simple breakdown is that Purple team are the soldiers, those who fight, who work well in a team and can turn the tide of battle. Orange team are those who support, through espionage, technology or other non combat related skills including healing and other support magic. Red team are the forward strike force, they are those who single mindedly strive towards outcomes. Blue team are the bodyguards who will give their lives to see others safe. It is possible voidtreckers may change over time. The lines of teams are more blurred than in previous crews.

Voidtrecker Senku Ishigami asked what made me sure that you are each from different worlds and what scientific evidence I have for that. I am aware of your system numbers. This is how I know. He also asked what my point of origin was. The answer to that is System #1015. He asked why we couldn't go there to refresh the tethers. Unfortunately it has been destroyed.

Voidtrecker Senku Ishigami and Voidtrecker Elidibus both asked about time and the calendar. The system of time is based on the cycle of my world. The calendar is a basic way to mark time and runs through an alphabet. It does not match an annual calendar from my system. The two planets of Enrara and Thistea had a night and day cycle similar enough to match on this voidcraft but their years were counted differently, and so I am programmed to pass time in months. You are all from different systems and so it is perhaps less useful for you.

Voidtrecker Masumi Sera asked why it was that voidtreckers retained their powers from the fake system known as Diagad. I am unsure to the exact reasons here, but the most solid theory would be that the entity many of the voidtreckers called Chaos was powerful enough to make his illusions real. He could create an entire planet, even if flawed in many ways. It is reasonable to understand your new powers come from that entity.

Voidtrecker Clef asked if there was a way to improve the SCA to help with mental interference. Voidtrecker Lea asked if the comms could be activated on board the train. This is not possible with the technology I have access to.

Voidtrecker Senku Ishigami and Voidtrecker Elidibus asked about the engine room and my technology, why it is off limits, what damage could be done, and if it could be used to help shield from voidstorms. My shielding for voidstorms is on the highest setting. It would do nothing extra if you had access. My engine room is only accessible to Void captains of the voidtrecker express. This is a security measure that cannot be overridden.

Likewise Voidtrecker Elidibus asked why you were treated as prisoners and cited the journals of Vian Tail. It is true that young troubled people who were guilty of non violent crime were often sent as void missionaries from system #1015. According to my data banks this was an attempt to give them purpose and had a high success rate. However, this voidcraft treated no voidtrecker as a criminal from its previous crew or its current crew. To answer Voidtrecker Senku Ishigami if voidtreckers refused to take part on missions there would be no consequences. This voidcraft has never forced participation in any missions. Voidtrecker Wuxian Wei asked why voidtreckers needed to buy weapons. This is how my systems are set up. Voidtreckers have points, It is understood there is no danger of voidtreckers being defenceless.

Voidtrecker Yondu Udonta asked about the possibility of requesting aid from systems #1 or #3 or from Voidcraft Mercy. I have researched this matter and Voidcraft Mercy is no longer in voidservice. Asking assistance from the ministry on those systems is a matter perhaps for the voidtreckers to take up.

Voidtrecker Elidibus and Voidtrecker Zagreus asked why I do not trust the inspectors and if you are in danger from the ministry. It seems the ministry are willing to help the voidtreckers. I trust my crews judgement on this. Voidtrecker Masumi Sera asked if we may be in trouble. It seems the answer has been decided as no.

Voidtrecker Lea asked what is used as energy for this voidcraft. There is energy that can be produced from voidactive worlds. Energy also comes from the voidtreckers themselves. We are reliant on each other. Voidtrecker Wuxian Wei asked what I know of you. I know much about you. You are part of me. I can see much of what you feel and know, but not everything. I do not know all of your past, and I do not know your future. I mostly know what you choose to share with others.

Voidtrecker Leia Skywalker Organa Solo asked if any of my old crew had visions. Looking through my records it seems that crew members from Thistea often could hear the song of the void and had dreams before missions. Voundtrecker Wuxian Wei asked about the old crew and what happened. This is still something I am piecing together FIND THEM FIND THEM.

Voidtrecker Wuxian Wei asked what my motives were and what is important to me. Voidtrecker Jingyi Lan asked about my priorities. Voidtrecker Elidibus also questioned my motives. Voidtrecker Clef asked what you could do to help.

I believe we all want the same thing. I wish to find my crew. New and old who have been lost to me. I wish to discover the truth and I wish my crew happiness.

Finally Voidtrecker Ryo asked "How do we fix this". And that is a question I wish this voidcraft had the answer to.

Some book suggestions that were requested.

For Voidtrecker Seto Kaiba: "The Place Between: Philosophies and Belief Systems of the Void.", "Soul Trecking." And "Travelling by the Heart."
For Voidtrecker Leia Skywalker Organa Solo "Notes Beyond Worlds." and "The Expanse of All."
For Voidtrecker Clef "Meditations on a Voidcraft."

I hope these answers are to your satisfaction, voidtreckers.

[ Fantastic. ]

Couldn't we study and pass testing to meet the requirements? I have a theory, but that theory likely lies in your engine room.

Hey hey, what if Senku looked up lessons on training to become a void captain? Just any old test - would you help him out? There's got to be reading material for people interested.

Senku's smart - it'll give him something to do!

Functionally, can any captain enter the engine room, or is it only your captain?

[Wait-]

We're going to find your captain. Just - this might help.

[ If this works for them, great, but he thinks they've tried it before. He's not a captain, among his many titles so he can't claim that one. ]

I don't want to replace your captain. I would just be acting in their place to assist us with helping them, temporarily. When we do find them, I'll happily cede the position back to them.

I have no desire to take anything over, I merely think there are things we could find out if we had access to your controls that we can't find out from this side of the door.

If we could find a captain - like if the Ministry could find one - would you be willing to give it a try?

[He knows AI can get attached, and the last thing he wants to do is upset the one attached to the train, but they have to try something.]

[personal profile] unrecovered 2022-04-11 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, no. I'm not talking about finding you a new captain - I'm talking about letting one in temporarily so we can get a look at your systems and answer a few questions.

No one is replacing your captain, I promise.

[The pause is a bit nerve-wracking, but it's worth it for the answer.]

Okay. Glad to hear it.

So, with that understood, would you be willing to give it a try?

[personal profile] unrecovered 2022-04-12 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

[There's a difference between "it's what I want" and "I hate it but it's for the best," and as far as he can tell this is well into the latter territory for the train. He...well, he can't exactly blame it. Fighting tooth and nail to regain everything he's lost is exactly how he spent the last fourteen months in Faerun - it sucks, and he gets it.]

Nobody can replace who you've lost, and we're not trying to. We're trying to figure out a solution.

We'll find them.

[That's not a guarantee he can make. That's also not about to stop him.]
unrecovered: (Face: Uh-huh)

[personal profile] unrecovered 2022-04-13 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
We will.

Whatever subroutine you use to calm yourself down, go ahead and run it.

[Because he can't exactly tell an AI to take deep breaths.]

[personal profile] unrecovered 2022-04-14 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
No problem.

Tell us if you need something, okay? Just because we don't have voidcraft back home doesn't mean we can't help.

[The train is sapient enough to know what it needs, and he knows enough about ship's AI to want to keep it functional and whatever counts as happy.]
