Orchestra 14 [Voice post]
[The train has been flying steady for a few days now, the storm long behind them. Those vetran to the train will know it is days past when they should have had a mission, the pattern broken for the first time.
A few hours after the wake up announcement on Orchestra 14 there is another, as all the ICP's flash at the same time.]
Attention Voidtreckers. The Voidtrecker Express would like to make an apology. Voidtreckers may believe this is long overdue. The Voidtrecker Express listens to all feedback and suggestions, I am aware of voidtreckers opinions on many matters.
The false mission to lure us towards the Inspectors was not a tactic I had prepared for. Their skill in manufacturing a mission call was highly sophisticated. The ruse was not discovered until their shields were falling into place and though an attempt to evacuate was undertaken it was not possible to retrieve more than a small handful of you.
In escaping the Inspectors I was reckless and left us vulnerable to the void storm that we encountered. Though there were no long lasting repercussions as a result of that an apology must still be made for the harm done.
Voidtreckers are correct. I should be more open with you all. In the spirit of transparency I shall also inform voidtreckers that we have received a transmission from Voidscout Anan. It is currently being verified and checked to make sure it is real. The Voidtrecker Express has no wish to lead its voidtreckers into another trap. Once verified I shall release the transmission to you in full. Please be assured it is not a distress call. There is no danger detected.
Voidtreckers have accused the Voidtrecker Express of caring less about its current crew than the crew of old. That is untrue. The Voidtrecker knows all of its crew. Every loss is a regret. The Voidtrecker Express invites its voidtreckers to share their thoughts with it.
I open this channel to any questions. The Voidtrecker Express shall not answer the questions straight away but compile them and report back with those answers that can be shared.
Voidtreckers can share as well. What is it that voidtreckers wish the Voidtrecker Express to know?
(OOC: Replies can be given by voice or video like any normal ICP post. They can choose to reply 'to all' or 'to engine' to give a more private response.)

( voice for voice, though he has no concept how the train 'sees' any of them, beyond assuming it does. where is he even for this? stopped back by his cabin picking up a change of clothing, perhaps, and seated on the edge of his bunk and glaring at the ICP as a convenient point.
'til he flops back and stares at the ceiling, equally valid a point of 'train' to stare at with all the mustered force of a twenty-one year old mightily tired and unimpressed with this nonsense. )

Not always energy to reply though, right.
( don't mind him, staring at a ceiling with a neutral expression leaning towards a frown. )
What's your concept of regret?
no subject
Regret is a feeling of sadness or disappointment, which is caused by something that has happened or something that you have done or not done.
no subject
We're instructed in many things where I'm from.
( a touch bland, but yes, philosophy is part of a sect founded by a former monk, perhaps inevitably. )
What does your saying you regret anything in our current circumstances mean, in specific?
no subject

( staring at that ceiling as he's talking, steady as he goes. )
Then you're not sorry to us. There's no perfect situation, no perfect world. You have no intention of stopping what you're doing in order to address our coming out going.
( he crosses his arms over his chest, frowning at the nothing that is also everything, because it's the train. )
By your actions, you don't care about us like you care about your original crew. We're useful to you, and you provide shelter and clothing and food and an ability to understand each other in speaking and writing. While you didn't personally select us, you're still a warden, bringing us to places you hope we'll consent to being used. To help worlds that aren't ours and don't care for or about us, while we're put at risk. While we can die, but not be allowed to die for long. Where we go, and you don't know where, or what it means.
( really laying on his back is a little awkward; his tail lashes, but it prompts him into turning into his side with a grimace. )
We aren't free to come or go. You want your crew back more than you care about addressing that injustice. You run scared, and desperate, and people and trains like that make shitty decisions.
( and they aren't defended from each other. they can hurt each other indefinitely, and nothing will happen. )
Your regret may be that you don't know how to make it a choice, so you have a crew of people who all said they wanted to help you from the start. But you're not sorry, because you wouldn't do otherwise. You won't stop. You won't change priorities. Empty apologies have no worth.
( don't say sorry when you don't mean it. the train can't apologise for that. simply for the fact it won't do otherwise. )
At least be honest about it. You're using us. We're a tool in your hand, and you're using us. Just like the ministry investigation people were using us. Which I can get, but it's shitty all around, and I'm never going to be happy about it.

No, it isn't. Helping us get back could be. Or helping people really stay, if that's what they want. That's not your priority. Do you see how it rings hollow when you won't change what you're doing? Acknowledging it at least let's you claim responsibility for your actions.
Silence is a choice too. A choice, and an answer. Are you going to fall back into it?

So tell me.

Are you intending to answer it when you come back with whatever list that is?
( flatly addressed to the ceiling when he's from a clan that answers by sidestepping direct answers. )

Then I'll save gratitude for when it appears.
What's limiting your energy?

That you're talking now, do you have greater energy, or are you managing it differently?

Also that you can say no.
( He flicks his fingers... at the ceiling. Closing his eyes, and not so much concerned but annoyed this is anything to bring up not based on the train, but everything else. )
Re: to engine
Re: to engine
( here, he huffs out a long, long sigh. )
At least someone gets it.
( you know, the train in control of not enough and too much at the same time )
Anyway, you should still consider larger beds when you can, I'm not the tallest or largest guy here and it's still hard for me to fit and get a halfway decent night's rest.
Re: to engine
Re: to engine
It's inevitable, I think. I've survived.
( a longer pause. )
Hey. When can I be what I am in either form without being forced small here?
