video | orchestra one, immediately post platform
( Lan Jingyi, appearing briefly on ICP, soaked from head to toe, actively dripping water with his hair and ribbon plastered down either side of his face, his, er, nightgown likewise... plastered... against him... and it's white, this is a wet shirt contest and no one told anyone who showed up on platform, they all just suffered together. )
Look, if anyone's trying to find me and is confused why I'm not in my tiny short bed cabin, I'm staying in the "inn" carriage the next week.
( that's it, that's him wanting to inform the ones who'd probably want to know but being in a less than happy mood to track everyone down so doing it in the most broadreaching, effective way the train's got going for it. )

no i think that's what wangji alone sees u_u
Hanguang-jun. Do you have a preference for tea?
Badum tish… but you aren’t wrong either.
I do not have a preference. Did you wish to drink it here or did you want to go to the dining car?
we support wangji's love life okay
Here is fine, if it's okay with you. I'll return before long with the tea.
( That said, he turns to go get said tea ready, only to pause. )
... I'm sorry you had one of your sons go home this platform, Hanguang-jun.
woo
That is fine. I will wait here.
[ He lowered his head slightly at Jingyi’s next statement, petting Little Radish as if he was a therapy rabbit ]
Thank you. It is unfortunate that the train decided it was his time to go and he will be missed.

( He asks, but then he's gone again. Inigo has him believing the train doesn't even know, really, what makes people stay or go, and he thinks again: is this whole stupid process entirely beyond them all, some third force at work, that the train tapped into and is too desperate to stop using? Was this some weird side effect from things that happened before?
But he lets those thoughts bleed away, until he's prepared the tea, and carries it, steeping, back to Hanguang-jun, through transgates and carriages. There's nothing but ground and laps to set the tray on, so he settles to his knees, kneeling as he's been taught since he was too young to have clear memories, and pours tea for his elder, handing it over after, even as Little Carrot sniffed and nibbled at the tray itself, swiftly finding it not to its tastes. )
Hanguang-jun.

But he didn’t have a chance to respond that philosophical question as Jingyi left to get tea, but he did have time to consider it as he continued to sit there in the greenhouse carriage with two rabbits, one of them bouncing around.
When Jingyi returned, he watched with patience as Jingyi poured the tea for him, unable to help a faint smile as Little Carrot tried to chew on the tray and deciding that it wasn’t food ]
Thank you.

It's what I should do, Hanguang-jun.
( Which is a you're welcome, but not arrogant. Arrogance he saves for pointing out how Sect Leader and very dead Su She was a musical hack compared to true Lans. Ahem.
He does reach out to scratch fingers through the fur at Little Carrot's cheek when it comes closer, balancing his tea in his other hand. His lips curl up into a smile. Rabbits are something too familiar to Gusu Lan to not be dear in a homesick sort of way. )

WangJi just gave him a nod in reply to that statement before taking a sip of his tea, which gave Jingyi permission to drink his tea as well. He was a good junior disciple, knowing that he should wait for his senior. Little Carrot was happy with the pets when Jingyi reached out to pet him. He was a happy rabbit and liked being around people. Being around WangJi was always nice. Being around people was good too.
But after taking a few sips of his tea, WangJi replied to that original question ]
From what I have overheard, it does not seem like the train itself decides, but either something else picks or it is something that goes wrong.

Yeah... I don't like any of this, but the train seems halfway as lost as we are. Only it does know more than we do, so it's not the same kind of lost, for the same reasons.
no subject
I agree. We are both lost, the passengers and the train, but the train is lost for a different reason than we are. It would be nice if we were able to learn the same information that the train knows, but I don’t think that it will be so obliging.

( He's at this point ignoring tea in favour of petting Little Carrot, who also has the easy bulk of his attention. He doesn't know what to think of all this, and so he asks, slightly less direct because he doesn't know what he's even asking. )

[ Little Carrot is fine stealing attention away from the tea. Getting pets was the better option, right? Right. Besides, it wasn’t like the tea was going anywhere… Same could be said for the fact that Jingyi was sitting there petting him for the moment. Jingyi was not going anywhere… but the bunny would much rather steal attention and get what it wanted ]
There are some who have knowledge of technology from home who seem to be working on trying to figure out the train. Quatre, who has helped the Blue Team several times, has notes from when another passenger named Webmind was here. Webmind was trying a lot of different tactics to try and learn about the train and potentially open the front compartment. Seto Kaiba also seems to be one who is trying to learn about the train.
[ He had heard an announcement by Seto Kaiba not too terribly long ago that he was working on it and enlisting others so the name stuck in his head]

( Not that he wants to volunteer himself for reading, but he also knows the worth in it, should there be records. It's so... frustrating, the silences, and so many expectations laid on them anyway.
The rabbit is certainly getting his due of attention. )
Huh. Hope they figure something out eventually. Not like we can help on that side of things.

[ All the pets! Little Carrot is getting all of the pets! Even Little Radish is watching him now as well ]
Yes, it is difficult that we are unable to assist, but it is understandable given that our world is not so advanced as theirs.
no subject
( come over, little radish, he's got two hands, he can pet you too. very generous, to offer pets this freely. )
What do we do in the meantime, Hanguang-jun? What can we even do?
no subject
[ Well, if there are two hands for petting… Little Radish was going to leave WangJi’s side and go over to Jingyi. All of the petting for him too? None of the drinking of the tea?
WangJi just watched his rabbit in amusement before answering ]
We can try to learn and offer assistance where we can.
no subject
What sorts have you learned so far, Hanguang-jun?
no subject
A few of those from more technologically advanced worlds have been teaching me how to use the equipment on the train. [ So he knew how to find music and save the ones he liked in the music carriage ]

( let the rabbits rejoice in their attention as he asks the quiet question, glancing up to Hanguang-jun's face, then letting his attention drift back down to more of his shoulder. easier to look at for longer, when not feeling at his best. )

[ Yes, he had tried the dancing game that had recently been bought. Granted, he hadn't "danced" fast... but he had technically by the definition of the machine. More like he had stepped on the arrows indicated while staying as still as possible otherwise ]
no subject
( a pause in rabbit pets, grin turning into a smug smirk. )
The dancing game he won't call a dancing game. Bet you did great!
no subject
Yes, that would be the one. Thank you. For my first time, I think I did well. Have you tried?
