Nebula 24 | Video
[About an hour after everyone's unceremonious return, the video feed clicks on to show Ryo in the dining car, looking serious.]
Three things:
One: Is everyone okay?
Two: There's food in the dining car, and coffee and tea and hot chocolate. Come get something to eat if you need it.
Three: What happened?
[OOC: ICP and in-person replies are great, threadjacking is great, everything is great! Go nuts.]

[And he does not sound happy about any of it.]
Wait - do you think they were holding the train too?
[Is the train okay?]

[ Then he remembers who he's talking to. ]
...not that I need a healer or anything. Just a couple of bumps.
no subject
If you say so. Come get your food.
[He'll use the time until Jake gets to the dining car to think about the conversation. Evidently there's a reason the train hadn't responded to him when he'd asked about an arrival time, and now he's worried about it.]

Seriously, my brain thanks you. And I'm sure everyone else's will too. You ever tried to sleep in a holding cell that's way too crowded?
no subject
I haven't, but I have slept in some odd places before.
[Occupational hazards of being a traveler.]
And you're welcome.
You're sure you're doing okay?
[He's noticed your movement speed, mister I-don't-take-care-of-my-injuries-in-a-timely-manner.]

And then he'll answer, a little sheepishly. ]
The ministry wasn't out to hurt us, so even though things in the puzzles looked scary, no one was seriously injured. At least not that I could see from the creepy surveillance wall. They think we're all unwilling captives, which is kinda true. Not great for the train's case. And they kept referencing laws that protect us but wouldn't tell us what they were.
[ He stretches in his seat, sounding a little creaky, and---ooh, there's a spot he shouldn't brush against. ]
Just an old corner bruise from the takeoff. I sleep those off all the time.
no subject
How are we supposed to follow the laws if we don't know them?
[There's something to be said for being a decent person and hoping the details don't conflict, but he doesn't think traveler law is going to hold any water against...that.]
[His eyes narrow just a bit as Jake shifts. He's been a healer long enough to spot the signs of someone in pain. He sighs and hold out his hand expectantly.]
Give me your hand.

[ Yup, all his education came from sci fi movies. But the sudden change in subject is...hm?
But Ryo's face doesn't offer room for argument. Jake obediently offers his hand. This is...definitely the hand of someone who doesn't have a skin care routine, but at least it's clean. ]

I'm going to connect with you. Do not pull away.
[That imparted, he reaches out with his magic and connects his life to Jake's, searching for injury. There are bruises, and Jake will be sore, but nothing more serious than that. Good.]
You have some pretty good bruises, but nothing worse than that. The question is whether you want to feel them for a week or be done with it now.
[It's not his usual offer to heal, but it's an offer nonetheless.]
no subject
[ Jake isn't entirely sure what's happening here. This is weird. Is it like the scan the interrogators used? Sounds like it.
He looks at Ryo, considering, and the usual joking facade falls. ]
I really appreciate the offer. I'd probably have an easier time training if you helped. I know you shouldn't have a big work load today, but...I'm not sure how this works, or what it costs you. Don't want to wear you out too.
no subject
[Namely in that they wouldn't be having a conversation and Ryo would simply have taken care of it.]
But for now, is that a yes?
no subject
Yes? Okay. He nods. ]
All right. I owe you one.
no subject
[It's very matter of fact. He's not Senku; he doesn't keep track of debts. It'll all work out in the end.]
This will hurt, but not much and not for long. Whatever you do, do not pull away.
[He gives that a moment to sink in before connecting again, weaving his magic into Jake's body and easing the bruises. It'll hurt - all the pain he would've felt as they naturally healed, compressed into the space of moments - but it fades soon enough as the bruises heal, and Ryo eases his magic out and lets go of Jake's hand.]
There. You'll be sore for a bit, but you should be fine by tomorrow.
no subject
Got it. Ow...that is definitely not how I thought healing magic worked. But I guess that's better than me crashing into stuff all week.
no subject
[And boy is he jealous of the people who can heal from a distance or while they're injured.]
