Never have I ever made a fool of myself [video, nebula 17]

What's up, party people?

[ And here's a cheerful wave from a man in orange, seated in his room with a mug of...something. ]

If we haven't met yet, my name's Jake. Jake Peralta, your clues guy. I'm down to poke things with sticks and solve mysteries! Sooner we figure out what the train's entire deal is, where we're going and all that, the better, right? But in the meantime, I thought it'd be fun to get to know my new squad!

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone would be down to play a little Earth game called Never Have I Ever. How it works is you say something totally cool, or weird, or boring that you haven't done. And anybody who has done it has to take a drink. Unfortunately, I'm as broke here as I was back home, so I can't supply the booze. And we should probably be setting a good example, right?

So just drink whatever you have! Be that water, juice, milk, coffee...or if you happen to have a proper adult beverage on you, go ahead and drink responsibly. You ready? Great, I'll start: never have I ever gone skydiving!

((ooc: it's a big mingle format! Go ahead and add new 'never have I ever' statements as new toplevels, and threadhop all you want.))

He's usually with me so its not often. But sometimes he'll sneak off. [She gives one last pat as she lets Gabriel settle with Rapunzel.]

[She settles back in her seat and pulls out the journal, flipping through the pages.]

But Gabriel isn't what I wanted to talk about.

I want to preface that...I know. The differences between worlds. Sometimes the same person can have wildly different lives, because of circumstances, because they made new choices, stuff like that. So I'm trying to not like...project stuff? That I know of people onto them. Just in case.

I just....I have one hang up. Because I'm pretty sure at least genetics is following the same vein and that's tripping me up pretty fierce.

AH, that's right we are here for a reason.

[She had become so distracted it had honestly slipped her mind.]

I do understand the whole different lives thing but genetics? I don't know why that subject has come up. I mean you mentioned a version of me so I assume it's believe we are the same genetically, which is always possible.

Maybe some minor things end up different, but I would think for the person to be the same, their parents have to be the same, because that DNA is what makes up them.

[She holds out the book to the newest page and their a sketch drawing of a man and a woman in regal attire.]

That's Queen Arianna and King Frederick. They rule the kingdom of Corona. And every year, there is an anniversary they pay special attention to. And on that day, every year, they asked their people to make a lantern and release it into the night sky, creating a stream of lights that can be seen for miles around.

[Now Rapunzel was more focused on the subject at hand and it's one she knows a bit about at least.]

I think that's the lantern things I was on my way to see. At least that was what Flynn called them. Always happen on my birthday.

[She nods.] They were the same for my Rapunzel too. Lanterns that...Flynn agreed to show her.

[Flynn. Not Eugene then. That nickname he had.]

[Also more similarities.]

You see, the lanterns are a celebration....and a desperate wish. You see, they had a daughter. The Queen was sick though, when she was pregnant. Both her and the child's life was in danger, so the King found a myth. A sundrop that would be able to save both their lives. And it worked.

The princess was born. But shortly after, she was kidnapped. And every year on her birthday, her parents release the lanterns in the sky in the hopes that one day, their daughter will find her way home.
