Never have I ever made a fool of myself [video, nebula 17]

What's up, party people?

[ And here's a cheerful wave from a man in orange, seated in his room with a mug of...something. ]

If we haven't met yet, my name's Jake. Jake Peralta, your clues guy. I'm down to poke things with sticks and solve mysteries! Sooner we figure out what the train's entire deal is, where we're going and all that, the better, right? But in the meantime, I thought it'd be fun to get to know my new squad!

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone would be down to play a little Earth game called Never Have I Ever. How it works is you say something totally cool, or weird, or boring that you haven't done. And anybody who has done it has to take a drink. Unfortunately, I'm as broke here as I was back home, so I can't supply the booze. And we should probably be setting a good example, right?

So just drink whatever you have! Be that water, juice, milk, coffee...or if you happen to have a proper adult beverage on you, go ahead and drink responsibly. You ready? Great, I'll start: never have I ever gone skydiving!

((ooc: it's a big mingle format! Go ahead and add new 'never have I ever' statements as new toplevels, and threadhop all you want.))

Ah, you are one of his roommates? I hope he has not been a source of headaches. [His tone is light and his expression amused, so he's probably not serious. Maybe.] I am his former apprentice, though our relationship has lately become one of equals.

And yes, Interspace is what we call the empty space separating worlds, though it does not behave quite like the Void. And I do indeed mean the fact that we each appear to be from a different world, despite several of them being virtually identical save for the differences in what constitutes the 'present'.

Mm, me and Xie Lian. Dunno, as long as he's not bothered sharing a room with a guy who sleeps as a dragon most nights.

( every night since Aquafir, but ... no one needs to know that. other than the two who probably do, if they catch him coming to bed; he's up early, when the weird missing chunk of time each cycle ends. )

Ugh. The differences can be so much more confusing than what you think at first... and then not only can you not rely on things being the same between you and someone else you recognise, you've got all these worlds with all these people who don't think the same way and it's exhausting, are you ever exhausted by this?

Not particularly, but I have had a decade to grow accustomed to the differences between worlds. When your mentor becomes fast friends with a three foot tall, talking mouse, such things as cultural differences seem remarkably minor.

Was it a mouse summons?
thawed_pride: (Nort-Allow me to consider...)

No, he was simply an individual from another world where the population happened to be comprised entirely of humanoid versions of various animal species. To the natives of said world, it is humans who are strange.

... what do you mean by humanoid?
thawed_pride: (Nort-Why am I still here?)

[personal profile] thawed_pride 2021-10-05 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
Possessing the same general body plan as a human. Two arms ending in manipulatory digits, two legs, upright posture, head between the shoulders with eyes facing forward.

Ooooh okay then, that makes sense. It's our descriptive word for people who aren't human, exactly, but hasn't similar body structures as human appearing creatures?

thawed_pride: (Nort-I shall take it into consideration.)

[personal profile] thawed_pride 2021-10-05 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. In Micky's case, he has the facial structure and tail of a mouse, but a posture similar to a human's. His species is, however, considerably shorter than humans.
jingyeets: (uuh | we've taken different paths)

[personal profile] jingyeets 2021-10-06 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
Does he ever take on another shape, or just the one mouse-human sort of hybrid?
