If we haven't met yet, my name's Jake. Jake Peralta, your clues guy. I'm down to poke things with sticks and solve mysteries! Sooner we figure out what the train's entire deal is, where we're going and all that, the better, right? But in the meantime, I thought it'd be fun to get to know my new squad!

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone would be down to play a little Earth game called Never Have I Ever. How it works is you say something totally cool, or weird, or boring that you haven't done. And anybody who has done it has to take a drink. Unfortunately, I'm as broke here as I was back home, so I can't supply the booze. And we should probably be setting a good example, right?

So just drink whatever you have! Be that water, juice, milk, coffee...or if you happen to have a proper adult beverage on you, go ahead and drink responsibly. You ready? Great, I'll start: never have I ever gone skydiving!

just in case, sizhui sneaks a small sip of his tea, nodding afterward.] I would confidently say she falls into the ‘fox’ category rather than ‘dog.’

[should he break it to dennis that they are both canidae in scientific name? maybe not right this minute when his friend's comment makes him grin mirthfully.] “Too cool,” you say. [alright, perhaps he's laughing in a somewhat more wholehearted manner now, but can he be blamed? fancy magic fox, that's outright adorable, okay!] Though I'm glad you're comfortable around her.

[Dennis smiles, tilting his head a little. Heck it's not even teasing at this point, he's just impressed when Sizhui just knows stuff like this. Guess it makes sense if one of his dads is like that too.]

What, too cool is definitely fitting. Magic anything fits under too cool.

[He gives a little shrug.]

Am too, guess I just never saw her as a dog. Kinda glad, would make it weird hanging out with you... I mean I know you can put her away, but s'not fair to her just cause I'm afraid of dogs.

Ah... [sizhui's cheeks flush, his left hand raises and he presses it over his face, a pathetic attempt at hiding the blush but also a better chance to cover his smile before dennis can see. it lowers once he's gotten better control over himself and he admits,] To be fair, I read about it in a book. [but yes, considering both of his fathers, it's not surprising that he knows the fancy term.]

It most definitely is! [here comes a giggle now, something he lets out more freely, his hand dropping back into his lap instead.] The same goes with magic too, but I was more amused by it because ‘cool,’ and she's an icy little spirit beast.

Mm. [he nods, glancing over his shoulder at something (or someone) off-screen then turning back, smiling faintly.] She doesn't look much like a dog, it's true, and while I can put her away... I feel bad, leaving her cooped up in that little ball mechanism when there's so much more room on the train.

That, and I think she's started really enjoying when you come to spend time with me.

[Aww no, don't cover your face, Sizhui! It's so cute. Thankfully it's not for long, but maybe there's still a little blush? Hmm?]

Oh- ha I didn't even think of that. Completely went over my head. She's definitely cool in both ways.

[Even over video like this, he finds it hard to not get lost in watching Sizhui. At least he's not gaping like a fish this time, but he looks quite fond as he does.]

S'better that she's free, but train can be kinda tight, yeah... and I like spending time with the both of ya. [Looking a mite sheepish-] Really like spending time with you, Sizhui.

[there is definitely still a blush there, which he's too pleased to worry about because, although it didn't click with dennis right away, he understood the joke sizhui was trying to make anyway.] It's alright, you realized now and that still counts for something.

[normally, sizhui's teasing dennis for his staring, knowing full-well why he's looking, but doing so on the network where everyone can hear would be almost careless (and a bit rude, as there are some things that needn't be aired out publicly).] It is, yes, even though it adds to the crampedness of our living situation... I'm glad you enjoy spending time with us. [a beat] Especially with me. [and maybe he's attempting to be coy, the wider, more outright grin he has makes it difficult.]

You know, Dennis, you're more than welcome to spend time with me whenever you want? I won't ever say ‘no’ to that.

[We appreciate that soft subtle blush here in this house.]

I know I know... just don't wanna take up all your time, yeah? Mean with your family and friends here, gotta share ya.

[good, because it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon, especially with dennis's joke of ‘sharing him.’] I mean, yes, you're right about that...

Though there seems to be nothing but time when we're aboard the train. It makes sharing easy, at least?

[It's maybe his favorite look of his. Obviously beyond Sizhui smiling.]

We'll make it fair, they can have you four days out of the week, I get you the other three.

[... Dennis tries not to smirk, because he's kidding.]

[y'know, dennis may be joking, but sizhui actually sees nothing wrong with this suggestion.]

Why not? I'm sure we could make it work... or modify it however necessary.

[since dennis seems to be enjoying sizhui's cute blushing face, hopefully he can also appreciate that he's letting a small, yet still quite obviously excited smile overtake his expression now.] Like if we have to make it fairer, we could go three days each between you and them, then every last day of the week split between everyone.

[Oh no oh no, did he take him seriously? Sizhui stop this is adorable. Dennis almost looks slightly mortified before he's shaking his head trying not to laugh.]

Sizhui m'not gonna make you split your time between me and your folks. Was just joking.

[But it's still cute how earnest he was about it. Hard not to smile about that.]

Let's keep it simple, yeah? When we wanna hang out we hang out, long as it ain't getting in the way of family stuff. Think that's fair.

[good, as it's only fair that he embarrasses dennis in return! sizhui's well-aware there's no need to dedicate certain days to particular people when he's more than able to visit dennis and whoever else he wants because they're all aboard this train; it's quite simple to walk down a corridor, find someone he's looking for, chat them up a bit and move along to the next person.

But! [so determined, it seems, sizhui won't give up without a fight.] I've learned a bit so I hope to at least offer some sort of challenge.

[corny as it sounds, that's truly how sizhui feels about it too; having fun together is all that really matters.] Sooo, [he drawls, grinning wide and momentarily averting his attention off-screen, directing back after a beat of consideration.] Meet me at the game car in fifteen minutes?

Well I mean... winning is good too...

[Dennis says side eyeing some what cheekily.]

[sizhui squints playfully but he knows: winning is also important!

nevertheless, he smirks afterward, raises his right hand, points toward his eyes then at his friend over the feed.] Good! I'll see you then. [one of these days, someone should teach him be there or be square! just for moments like this... but another time, perhaps.]
