Never have I ever made a fool of myself [video, nebula 17]

What's up, party people?

[ And here's a cheerful wave from a man in orange, seated in his room with a mug of...something. ]

If we haven't met yet, my name's Jake. Jake Peralta, your clues guy. I'm down to poke things with sticks and solve mysteries! Sooner we figure out what the train's entire deal is, where we're going and all that, the better, right? But in the meantime, I thought it'd be fun to get to know my new squad!

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone would be down to play a little Earth game called Never Have I Ever. How it works is you say something totally cool, or weird, or boring that you haven't done. And anybody who has done it has to take a drink. Unfortunately, I'm as broke here as I was back home, so I can't supply the booze. And we should probably be setting a good example, right?

So just drink whatever you have! Be that water, juice, milk, coffee...or if you happen to have a proper adult beverage on you, go ahead and drink responsibly. You ready? Great, I'll start: never have I ever gone skydiving!

((ooc: it's a big mingle format! Go ahead and add new 'never have I ever' statements as new toplevels, and threadhop all you want.))

... And you hadn't made one before.

I keep getting told to read the instructions. Sounds like you could have used that advice, too.
thawed_pride: (Nort-Must you be so childish?)

I read the instructions, I just was not aware of how spectacularly different oven chemistry is from stovetop or beaker chemistry.

To be fair, I don't either.

But that's partly because I only got through school because the teachers were afraid of what would happen if they failed me.
thawed_pride: (Nort-Forget that happened.)

I excelled in academics, but never found home economics to be a particularly high priority. My emphasis was on biochemistry, alchemy, and thaumaturgy, with a lesser focus on programming.

Yeah, I wasn't good at any of that. It was important that I had a high school degree, but mostly for appearances.

Actually learning wasn't important, since there's not much you'd need to know to be an enforcer for organized crime. Anatomy, I guess.
thawed_pride: (Nort-I don't have to listen to this.)

I would suppose not. If anything, I can imagine you being too knowledgeable might be seen as a threat. The sorts who tend to be in charge of those organizations do not tend to care much for their underlings thinking about things too much.

Yeah. Not like I was told much, even though my brother was in charge of our group.

But uh. Not the best relationship there. The less said, the better.

Also what the hell is 'thaumaturgy'?
thawed_pride: (Nort-This seems worth my while.)

It is the magical manipulation of elemental forces. In my case, I have a particularly strong talent for ice and cold related spells.

Oh. I... can't control any elements, but when I'm transformed and in a vehicle form I can shoot energy projectiles.
thawed_pride: (Nort-I'm getting too old for this.)

I am finding that there are a large number of worlds where magic is not treated as any other skill to be learned.
