If we haven't met yet, my name's Jake. Jake Peralta, your clues guy. I'm down to poke things with sticks and solve mysteries! Sooner we figure out what the train's entire deal is, where we're going and all that, the better, right? But in the meantime, I thought it'd be fun to get to know my new squad!

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone would be down to play a little Earth game called Never Have I Ever. How it works is you say something totally cool, or weird, or boring that you haven't done. And anybody who has done it has to take a drink. Unfortunately, I'm as broke here as I was back home, so I can't supply the booze. And we should probably be setting a good example, right?

So just drink whatever you have! Be that water, juice, milk, coffee...or if you happen to have a proper adult beverage on you, go ahead and drink responsibly. You ready? Great, I'll start: never have I ever gone skydiving!

Of course not. But I was in the area while being a ghost, and apparently that was enough. Multiple times, depending on how you define war.

Isn't it crazy how people take the most convenient scapegoat in times like those?

I feel like there should be some kind of limit on how many times they pick the same scapegoat.

You would think. But the type to pick scapegoats tend to go with whatever is convenient and even if you weren't the cause that time, what is to say you aren't this time?

The human psyche is a rather... interesting thing.

Depends on your definition of entertaining. It was definitely challenging considering we were doing our best to make it a bloodless conflict and win through intimidation alone.

... Bloodless? That does sound like a challenge, how did that end up working out for you? I know it... would go relatively poorly where I'm from. [What with your shounen protags and such.]

I wasn't interested in killing anyone and I know people who are a lot more serious about that than I am.

[ He let out a thoughtful hum. ]

First we convinced some of those on the other side through lies and deceptions, thanks to a well placed cell phone and a recording we happen to have of a pop star from the past. Then we came in appearing to have them severely outgunned to freak them out.

All in all it worked out pretty well, for the most part, considering there were minor wounds with one exception and that exception was backstabbed by an ally.

Oh, some people are just mean about where I come from. I, obviously, had nothing to do with the war. Er, at least, I didn't. It's been going on for hundreds of years and I'm only twenty!

Hundreds of years and just for where you came from? That sounds... a little drastic, if you were simply a regular civilian. [That sounds like a lie to him, actually.]

Yeah, well, they don't like people like me since the place I came from started the war, but I mean it's been hundreds of years. Wasn't alive.
