Heard we're supposed to be having another mission soon... seems a bit like every time we get beat down, we have a nice break, then have to get beat down even harder, huh?

[Rich is starting to get tired of this, honestly. He's trying not to let it show on his face, but the bags under his eyes probably still make it obvious. At least he seems to be back to his talkative self, though he has to admit... it's just because he can't take the silence anymore.]

Anyways, I've been thinkin' a lot about the stuff I miss back home. Video games and cheesy movies, and fast food courts in malls that seem like a great vibe until two hours later when you've barricaded yourself in a bathroom stall. All the stuff we don't have a lot of here. And I think there's one thing we're sorely missing, which is memes.

[He smirks a little.] I mean, I could do an acoustic riff on Astley if anyone wanted it, but I wonder if we have better than that.

Maybe we could use that laptop to make new ones? Yknow, all that bottom text goodness? Though I guess we couldn't really use them as reaction images on these terminals...

Anyways, I guess, what's the one thing you wish you had here, that the train just can't replace for you? So whatever you can't buy from the store. I'm in a nostalgic kinda mood.

[Weird term that he hasn't heard before, but... he understands what the gist is.

He understands it more than the possibility that Yondu might actually be implying he gives a shit about him... He dismisses that, letting himself fall into easy laughter at the comment about walking off.]

[Rich muffles a bit of laughter at that and shakes his head.]

I guess there is that too. I tend not to go out looking for fights because I'm not superpowered enough to beat anyone's ass.

[He was so used to being the tough guy at school, but here, that doesn't count for anything.]

[Yondu laughs a mean little laugh.] Boy, it takes about the same force of bitin' through a thick steak as it does to take off a hunk of ear, even with blunt teeth. You don't need to be superpowered to surprise the hell outa somebody what thinks they're hot shit.

While I don't recommend that necessarily, don't underestimate yourself. Can't count on magic or tech all the time. I say this as a man who loves his arrow a whole lot. Sooner or later when everyone's caught supernaturally buttnaked we're gonna have to rely on our fists and wits.

Jesus... see, this is the kind of fight advice I'm looking for! Everyone keeps teaching me self-defense and really simple wrestling moves. Nothing about ear biting!

[He gives a nervous little grin.] I mean, I'm still not going to be much help, because I'm not like an ex-soldier or a huntsman, but it's cool to think I might be able to help if we get in a jam like that.

Well if you don't mind kickin' the shit out of a dummy I could show ya some things. It's easier than ya think to take out someone's kneecap with the right kinda kick and one knife to a thigh can keep someone from chasin' you when you're makin' a getaway. Especially if you ain't confident in a headshot.

Or, you know... just don't wanna do a headshot. [Just tacking that on there for the sake of people who would not want to see someone given the capacity for murder.] Thigh is a bigger target.

I definitely don't mind that! I'm always looking for people to practice with.

[And if he keeps training with different people, he'll pick up more moves and be a lot more useful. Though he does look a little nervous about doing a headshot, so he's grateful Yondu gives him an out.]

Yeah, and harder to get seriously injured, you know? I don't... exactly want to kill anyone.

Fair warnin', my way of fightin' is to take care of either blood-thirsty folks, or to make sure someone ain't gonna be able to chase you out. Might not kill 'em, but don't use it on somebody you're plannin' on makin' up with later.

But I think once someone's violently set on makin' what's left of your life a miserable painfilled hell I think the room for coffee dates is over.

[That should at least mean Rich can do something during missions, but he'll have to be a good judge of when he can't mend the situation with anything but violence... which might be an issue. He winces to himself.]

Sounds like you had to deal with a lot of nasty characters.

Yeah. Enough that I go and blow up at people tryin' to be decent to me. But at least I can make sure y'all benefit from it.

[He hates that kids have to grow up too quick. However, he knows there's no stopping what people do to them to make that happen unless he makes those kids capable of shutting it down.]

Hey, no worries. I do that without being literally explosive, so I'm sure I can handle a few punches. I've had worse from...
