nebula 2, morning
[ Seto looks tired. Someone's only been having his mandatory sleep and nothing more, and that shows. His frown is etched deeper than usual too. ]
We have to talk about the people we've lost. And I don't mean in a 'let's all gather and mourn' way, though that might be...beneficial to some, and I'm not against the idea.
I mean that I refuse to accept that they're gone forever and there's no way we can see them again.
Remember when we visited the void river, and we were told that our emotions, allegedly, would travel across spacetime and reach the people we've left behind? Remember Diagad, when we walked the void to bring people home? The people we've lost are still out there---they have to be, a small handful have returned, right?
If my suspicions about how this all works are correct, all we need is full control of a voidcraft...and that, of course, is the thus-far insurmountable obstacle. So I'm researching as much as I can when we touch down, and I'd like to ask for your help. If you have any other clues or theories about how reaching our lost allies would be possible. Share, please.

Um... is it possible to summon any of them? I don't know if that would work... I also don't know how, I just know there's summoning rituals that bring people from other worlds.
You're new, right? Welcome, though this probably isn't the best welcoming post.
I don't know if you were told about this yet, but void travel requires a tether . We're here because the train tethered our life essences to itself. That's the reason we can't die permanently as long as the train lives and we're tethered. But if the train dies, we all die with it. When people leave us, it's because their tether became unhooked, as far as we know.
[ Well that's a fun thought. He presses on. ]
In order for a summoning to work and be safe, it would have to forge a tether.

[Like a rope? It sounds like a rope.]
Is it possible to look at the thing tethering us? A - and maybe you can make one with magic. I don't know if there's anyone really good at magic on board, but maybe?
no subject
[ A small laugh follows. ]
I am absolutely not a magic person.

Re: video;
That's why I'm asking for help this time, instead of trying to upend reality myself. Leaving Mokuba was a terrible mistake I won't repeat.

[And support for him was at least something.]
But how are you feeling if I may ask?

... I don't have any ideas. And I won't pretend like I've got a good grasp of how all this works. But I want in.

Anan and her group know more about void travel than we do, right? They'd be the people to ask. And we should keep our ears open for others when we're on missions.
no subject
D'you think anyone's asked them about this before? Anan and them. I dunno how long they've been in contact with us, but... It's possible.

It might not be insurmountable.
Mind if I talk to ya in person?
[Cause he's still not sure he should be saying any of this in front of the train's ICPs.]
no subject
[ Because he always is, sorting cards. ]

[He retrieves his ticket from his cabin's ICP and uses a transgate to get there as quickly as possible. And when he does, he clears his throat and gestures Seto over to the flight simulator.]
[He makes himself comfortable in the pilot's seat and goes through the whole process of changing the settings to M-Ship. Makes the background some asteroid-laden belt region, bright lights of a galactic arm in the background. Just background visuals so he can settle in and talk.]
I talked to Anan a while back. [He says whenever he has Seto within range of casual conversation.] I was tryin' to work out how to get my hands on schematics for voidcraft. But either scoutcraft or fightercraft. I told her that a lot of y'all depend on this train to stay alive. I meant that. This train gets stopped an' a bunch of us end up dead.
But I don't think voidcraft is the answer 'cause we don't know how the train is tetherin' us yet. The voidcraft would buy us time if the ministry caught up to us. But if I can find the layout and the schematics, think you could rig this thing up to practice in quiet? 'Cause I got a model that wasn't train picked and that I could assemble myself on purpose. I know just what's in this thing.

You think we could find them if we had a voidcraft? I'd go for that theory, as it leaves room for hope. And I'd go for trying to acquire such a craft. Any ideas about how we could do that?
no subject
[ He nods. ]
Very little so far. That's why I'm planning to research wherever I can without drawing too much suspicion. Can't ask too openly, we're still fugitives.
no subject
[ Curufin nods, too. ]
Yes, I'd certainly say keep the inquiry as quiet as possible. And I'm wondering, if we had a voidcraft, would we go to all the missing people's worlds and look for them? Or do you think they might be somewhere else?

Any special occasion?

It's strawberry and coconut. We've got a bunch left over. [ The coconuts, obviously. ] Who was it?

I agree there's a chance we'll see them again. Folks have left, but they don't cease to exist.
What exactly are you planning?

[Video] - Sorry for the delay, rl has been hectic
Ah. Well, I suppose it couldn't hurt to get some extra vehicles. In case of emergencies and all.
Are you sure that a voidcraft would be able to reach them though?

I was working with Webmind before he left, trying to figure out how to access some sort of control system. We didn't have much success, but I can show you what we tried so that way it isn't something you have to try again. I'd be interested in continuing

If there's anything left of the unfinished text program, that might be worth something too. We're going to need some beepers.

I'll pull out the notebooks where I have everything written down that we've done.
