So I'm not saying anyone has to do this, but what if we started keeping track of what we do here and who we meet so that in case any of us disappear and return without our memories like I did, we can at least learn what we were up to before leaving?

I've been thinking about this idea off and on since my departure and return, and no I still don't recall being here before. I think if previous me had done this and the book was either with someone I trusted or kept somewhere in the library, it would have helped me greatly when it came to people knowing me and me not remembering who they are.

Do you think we should set up a shelf in the library for the journals? And if people want, I can put the same charm on those that I did Maleficent's spellbook so that only certain people can open the journals.

[He didn't fully believe her, but he wasn't going to call someone out for doing their best to cope either.]

If people are worried about that, I can also make room in my work room. Otherwise, sure, take a spot on the library bookcase. This is your baby, run with it. You know I'll be here to support you.

I'll see what people prefer. Maybe we can utilize both spots, for people with extra security concerns and for people who aren't as bothered.

Good idea. And I think some of us are already doing this. We all found blank books in our rucksacks when we first arrived, and I'm using mine for a journal. I'm wondering also if we can order more of these from the stores?

The library sounds like a good place to keep them, or maybe we could just stuff them under our mattresses.

I'm not sure. I've never ordered anything from the stores, but it's possible. I can check later.

I haven't ordered anything from the stores either. If I did, though, that would be the first thing I'd think of ordering. Yes, if you're going to check on whether blank books can be ordered, can you let us all know? [ Chuckle ] There might be a stampede on the stores. At least by us writing types.

Good point. If a passenger is suddenly assigned to a different room, what happens to their belongings? Guess I wouldn't want to take a chance on journals disappearing.

I might already be in need of one. My handwriting is small to begin with, but it's about time. I'll let you know what I find.

You have magical abilities? Such a charm would certainly be helpful. It would be helpful even if the person never disappeared and returned. It would discourage the I'm gonna read your diary! mentality. [ Grin. ] Everybody's secrets would be safe.

Eh. Some? I'm still learning. Self-taught. Where I'm from, magic was banned. The villains of my world were prone to using it for horrible things. Attempted murders, sleeping curses that lasted for years, deception. So the king and queen banned it. The villains were locked up on an island with a barrier around it that prevented magic use. My mother was a witch, and a strong one at that. But since she couldn't use her magic, she couldn't teach me.

I have my best friends mothers spellbook, also someone who was banished to the island and for good reason. Maleficent is the literal worst. All of the spells in it are really, really bad. I'm working on revising them, but until they're all safe, they're kept under magical lock and key.

I'd be more than willing to spell-lock journals for people.

Your world sounds very turbulent. I'm sure the king and queen meant to prevent those horrors from happening, but it seems a little naive of them to ban magic, when magic can be used for so many positive ends. It must have been hard for your mother to have to give up the practice.

I think that's admirable, teaching yourself since you didn't have a teacher. Also, taking a book of evil spells and figuring out how to make them the opposite. What sorts of spells are in that book? Fortunate, that you know how to lock it!

I know how to magically ward a building or an object, but actually, that sort of magic is not my specialty. I'd be really interested in seeing what you can do. Yes, if I get my hands on another blank book, I'll bring it to you to spell-lock.

I'm keeping a journal too. [ She's just moved out of the car Curufin's using the ICP of, so she's heard a little of their conversation. ]

Hard to say if it'll stick around if I don't, though.

I guess we could leave messages with other people for safe-keeping, include information only we'd know? Makes it more believable if we come back like you did.

That’s a great idea. Small details about ourselves for a select few to know. That way, if people do vanish and return like I did, at least we’d know we can trust the person with our journal.

You know how everyone arrives with something from home when they join the crew on the train? I showed up with a spellbook from home. It belonged to one of our worst. I put a spell on it and now anyone that's not me can't get into it.

It frustrated Harry to no end.
