[Allen had just finished training for the day. It wasn't like his usual workout as he was slowly working his way back to to that. He was still honestly tired after what happened even if he didn't do an awful lot beyond talking.

But to him talking can be just as exhausting and yet here he was with a smile on his face.]

Hello... So I don't normally talk on here much but I'm trying this new thing called... being open and it's been going well. Sort of.

[He has his moments.]

So I decided why don't we all try giving a fact or two about ourselves. They don't have to be super serious or anything. Just anything will do and we can talk.

I will go first with some facts:

One: Back home we had a situation where people became zombie like and so to deal with something... I hit on a male robot to get him to do it. It worked.
Two: I have a bone to pick with Cupid. They're an asshole and I don't like them.
Three: I've cheated pirates out of money. Like a lot of money.
And finally Four: I once stabbed myself with my own sword. I thought it wouldn't do anything... I was very very wrong.

[All rather odd facts about himself that he was comfortable with sharing. The smile till on his face.]

So whose going to be next if anyone.

No, the fighting jobs I did the title wasn't soldier. I did hunt certain creaters in one world, was part of a police force in the same world and dealt with pirates.

In another world though it was less fighting and more a Deputy guardian where if needed fighting was a thing, but not as common. But I also did a bit on the entertainment side for a change. Did that in the other world to when I got the time as it's always fun.

[Basically he works a lot and back then barely got a break through choice... in one case because a goat put him into debt.]

It does, I can write and stuff with it and the weapon form is a claw or sword depending on what I want to use.

Hunting creatures and pirates? Our worlds have more in common than I first thought, though that is vast range of duties.

You have travelled through worlds before this journey? How does the experience relate to this one?

Fascinating. Is sensation dulled or heightened? Would you say it is more convenient than having to draw a sword instead?

Your world had creatures to fight too?

[With his he knew he was at least helping in two ways. At least he liked to think that anyway.]

As for travelling for one I prefer the first place I went to in terms of travel mostly because you can actually go back if needs be and you have control over where you go. So this type is very unnerving because of it. Travelling though can be fun and enjoyable.

It can still hurt depending on what you hit it with. Won't if it's for example a normal weapon. But if it is heightened or not I don't know and definitely more convenient because it's instant that it forms.

Mn. Most started as people, then their death influenced what they became next. Some without souls, some souls without bodies and the occasional monster or animated plant.

That kind of travel does sound preferable. I have not been here long enough to know if the train ever returns to places it has been. I agree, this train is a little discomforting, with the lack of forewarning. Travelling with those you love can be wonderful, no matter the journey but this is... extreme.

Hm, that is interesting. I would have said it was more convenient to have your weapon always with you; but as one of my own is playing an instrument I would need it to still be as dexterous and sensitive. That is why I ask.

That... kinda sounds awful. Sounds like people aren't able to rest if that happens.

As for the train. So far it hasn't returned to any worlds we have been on. It's always been new places. AT least from when I arrived and I haven't been here the whole time. I think the numbers that have aren't that high either. But travelling with those you care about I agree is wonderful and nice.

Intruments can be used as weapons to? I mean... always possible with the kinds I know of back home, so not that surprised. But it's interesting.

Yes, a cultivator's job is to cultivate but I believe it matter that you use the skills you gain to help everyone in need. That includes the dead.

Always new? Well, it is just as well I wished to travel. Even if this is not precisely how I meant to do so. Have you been on the train long? People have mentioned some long serving members such as the spider.

Hm, it is not often the instruments themselves that do the damage, but the energy put into the playing. Wei Wuxian uses his flute from a distance, my son has been known to actually beat fierce corpses with his Guqin. It is most frequent in my family, not across the world in general.

I've been aboard for six plus months at this point. But there have been those who have been around much longer than I have.

Question...What is a Guqin?

Six months? That is shorter than I expected for how competent you are at travel. Your previous world helped you gain experience?

[ An amused pause. ] A guqin is a stringed instument, made in china. It has a large wooden body and a varying number of strings held tight across the top.

That's because I travelled before I found myself on the train. Over all I would say that I've been travelling for around two years now at this point.

[He listened to the explanation before nodding slightly.]

AH, I think I saw one of those once but didn't know what it was. [Didn't really travel to CHina all that much in his travels.]

It must be tough to be so far from home, for so long. Unless you prefer a life on the road?

They were an instrument of the gentry, far less common now in modern day living.

I personally have always been use to travelling way before here back home; When I was younger I travelled with a travelling performer and then my master which wasn't as fun. So it was kinda normal until I was 15, then while I still travelled for jobs at my new work I pretty much had a home. Which was a new thing for me.

Is it really? How moden for you would be modern?

Ah, then perhaps the road is more to your liking than staying still... in some cases. You did not like your master? I came to travelling late in my life and it is still not quite in my nature. I am more used to going out from one centre of operations and returning there occasionally.

Hm, modern for me includes cars and mobile phones that I still do not understand. The world has a connected web that holds vast amount of information, some of it about me and very personal. Yourself?

I did not enjoy my time with master. It was the worst. It's not fun having to pay off one guys debts.

[He had many a debt to pay off that it can cause nightmares, thankfully those have lessened over time thanks to not being at home to worry about paying them off.]

All of that would have been modern to me as well. AT least until the last world I was in where those things existed. So that was a whole new thing.

[ A silence a series of blinks display as much incredulity as possible. ]
Your master... left you with his debts? How old were you at the time?

It must have been jarring to witness the sudden changes in technology when you arrived in that world. I saw it in increments and it still caused me enough issues. How advanced was the world you landed in?

It started when I was 10 maybe 11 and the last lot was at 15.

[So he's been left paying stuff off for a while.]

As for the other world. It depended on which city I was in. Someone were vastly more advanced than others.

[ There is a long silence. ] Exactly what did your master think he was teaching you while this was happening? That seems remarkably cruel.

So the level of technology changed from city to city? Was it like this place, with missions or tasks to fulfil?

How to do a certain job, which he did do. The debt was just because he's just very, very bad with money he doesn't have and very good at pawning it off others.

[He paused for the most part.]

Not really. Like you could work to help people and catch criminals or you could have your own business or just work. You could even do freelance stuff.

Hm. You could argue it was worth it for the knowledge you gained, but I admit I struggle to see it that way. You were very young for that responsibility.

So it was a much freer experience. What was it like to go from that to the cabins of the train? Was the main point just to live in your last world, no missions help people or places?

I could argue that, but it's still payment I technically am still meant to be paying off.

Advantage of going world hopping is they can't catch me if I miss payments. But I worry about who has to now.

It was very... I guess an odd expeirnece because it was such a huge different between having many places to go to, to being limited. I've seen so many worlds that were beuaitufl and vast...so this was just very different from that. I did help people with my job in the last world. I was what was called a Deputy Guardian so it means looking out for people was my job and if anything major happened which...could happen. We were there to deal with it.

...This sounds like an unreasonable amount of debt. How much is there left?

You worry for your loved ones, if they may suffer in your absence?

You could only travel to limited places? So it was not like the train in your perpetual travel, it was more like the worlds we visit to aid them?
What was being a guardian entail? Were you protectors or more like a police force?

I have no exact idea now honestly. Depends on which world.

[He shook his head slightly.]

I mean debt collectors wouldn't have known who to target. I just worry about anyone ending up with that debt honestly... He had a way of pinning such things on others after all...

Pretty much. The last place reminds me of the last place because you only had the same five places much like with the train you have the same carriages until things get added on. As for what a guardian is... a bit of both actually. We had a police force but we could help if needed, but the main point was to be protectors of a certain area.

He managed to get you into debt across multiple worlds?
[ Now Wangji is horrified and should never meet this man. He will have strong words to say otherwise. ]
So he frequently does this to anyone, not just his own student. Is what he taught so valuable that he could get away with that?

So you travelled between those five places while acting as a guardian? How did you travel between them, was it a vehicle or a portal? Some other means? What were you protecting the people from?

No, one world was because of a goat. Long story it still baffles me. But if Cross had managed to go across worlds then yes I am sure he would get me into debt in that way.

[He did not doubt that in the slightest.]

He was the one who taught me how to do a job. Not something I actually could have learned by myself as a young kid.

[He was like 10 at the time so...]

As for how. They were essentially portals I guess the closest thing to it was.

[ The ringing silence after the goat comment just encapsulates the confusion Wangji is feeling. A goat? How? He is too disturbed to ask. ]
That seems like he is not a man to be trusted. I do understand that those who are skilled are allowed some leeway, but that seems excessive.

Can't be trusted and yet... he has a charm about him. I still do not get how so many woman fall for him.
