[ Della's face pops up looking... well, like everyone else - exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally. She smacks her beak a bit, before speaking. ]

... So. That sucked.

[ Fully aware that's the understatement of the century, Della draws a breath, and tries again. ]

I think we could all use a nice, long breather after everything... and, gosh darn it, as Train Mom, that is my sacred duty. Hugs? Head on the lap? Head-pats telling you that you did a good job? A shoulder to cry on? Venting out all your feelings without judgement? I'm right here.

[ She slaps her chest, then slaps a small sign on on the sports/gym car. It reads

EXHAUST PILE WITHIN

But as she does this, Tidus enters the scene - Della jumps, surprised, almost forgetting his presence.

He just smiles, holding up two cups with steam coming off them, then addresses the video feed as well. ]

We're also making big batches of cocoa too. Any of you that're gonna stress bake? There's room for that room - s'long as you don't need a nap first.

[ It's a small chide though, his smile small but sympathetic. ]

I've gotten out some incense pots from the supplies - you guys who got your head thrown into a blender by that aash-- uh, that jerk, [ he takes a swift glance at Della, then back ] --it'll help you relax. Just some, but better than nothin'. I'll set some off in Momma Duck's air nest, but if you're not doing great and you think you need a pot? Tell me. Raven made a lot of good stuff for good nights sleep if you need any in the medcar, too.

... So, yes. Cocoa. Incense. Hugging. And if you want to sleep with friends for a couple nights, we got air beds and extra pillows in here. Nobody has to get up and go until they feel ready.

And if that's not enough, that's fine too. Maybe next month we do something a little more organized, if you have any suggestions - movie night, sleepover night, big eat night, whatever, I'm listening. And I'm here for you.

And inside the sports gym, the pair can be found. They have a few airbeds blown up, but there's more that still need airing up if you pop in straight after their message. There's also a tremendous amount of pillows. If you want to help, get blowing, and make these airbeds look nice and comfy!

The transgate from the standard coach has mysteriously been moved to the sports gym's outer hallway. Who did that? But it makes it easier to bring in the cups of hot chocolate from the kitchens, and for anyone who wants to bring snacks to do so. Take a seat, remember to bring your sleeping bag and whatever else you want. Plushes, your own musical instrument to offer some de-stress medication of your own with a melody.

And there's an area where small incense pots burn away, a gentle mist rising up. It won't heal the mind completely, but it will offer it some peace. And if you're worried about nightmares, a few of Raven's sachets and teas are available.

So come get a mom hug. Come and offer hugs. Just come and get something out of the company, whatever it is. Tidus and Della - and others - will be here to give a hand.

The life you had might've been fake, but the people around you aren't.

Perhaps Tidus doesn't realize that Thanatos will just shift locations once he reaches the hallway outside the gym, or maybe he plans on following through the moved transgate. However, he has a little time to talk before Thanatos vanishes on him to the kitchen.

"Not many should make friends with Death Incarnate." He does have friends on the train, but Thanatos thinks the best thing he can do for them is to take care of train duties and let them rest.

Please Thanatos, where else would Tidus be going for kitchen necessities than the kitchen? And a transgate doesn't bother him - it even gives them a second where it needs to be set to the location. A perfect pause.

"That still sounds like some people should!" Tidus remarks. "You met the lady called Death? Plenty of dead...not dead people around too."

Waaait. Unless there's an actual real reason for the guy to say that, that isn't just to sound mysterious. "You're not slowly killing me right or something, are you? Like a...presence drain?"

'I'm deadly to be around'?

A simple shake of his head is Thanatos's answer at first. "My presence near you will do nothing. I end lives by cutting their threads with my blade. Death does things differently than I, and she has access to powers of life as well."

Which Thanatos does not... save a small bit carried over from the mission that he has yet to discover.

"Ohhh." Ohhh. Alright, so there's no hidden meaning to that statement. "Okay," he says with a nod. "You never know - different worlds, 'n' all."

Which isn't to say that the detail of 'I end lives by cutting threads' isn't...something, but Tidus can't process it more beyond an 'oh', accepting it without much thought. Same goes for 'Death', who he's sure he knows the guy is talking about.

"You're not one of those gods, are you? Like Persephone?"

Even disassociating as he is, Thanatos has to stop floating where he is and look at Tidus. Did he just realize he might be speaking to a god?

"I'm the God of Death, Death Incarnate, houseservant to the House of Hades who brings the shades who die gentle deaths from the surface. Persephone is from my same pantheon of gods but of a different world."

With the way the guy looks at him, Tidus isn't sure if he said a good thing or a bad thing - but he feels proud of himself for getting that right. And hey, pantheon - he's heard that word before to!

"Oh, so like - a different version of a person you know?" He nods to that. "I get it! Wow, I didn't know we had more gods around here. We don't have them back home, far as I know," he admits with a shake of his head. "Our dead kinda...uh... I guess they lead themselves on, unless they die less than gently? Then we have to help them. Or, summoners do. Over to the Farplane."

Or afterlife, essentially.

"There are four from my pantheon on this train. There is a sun god from Egypt. There are at least two others who may be seen as gods, but they do not consider themselves gods." And probably others. This train has managed to capture far too many gods.

"I can't imagine an Underworld like yours." It must be a mess if the psychopomps--summoners only guide violent deaths.

A sun god. Tidus barely gets what gods are in the first place, but he can't see what a sun god would do. Make sure the sun always shines? --but that's far from worth asking about right now.

"It was really...big?" Does that help. Probably not, but he doesn't know how to imagine this guy and his houses either, so- "It looks like a giant...mountainside," he tries better. "Like off the side of one - 'least, the place I saw. There were waterfalls everywhere, and flower fields. And a large sea? And I guess dead people just...live there, or something. Sleep there?"

He doesn't have a clue. Has tried thinking about it, but also not too hard.

"That sounds like what Asphodel used to be it before the River Phlegethon flooded it." Thanatos has very faint memories of that Asphodel, and he often wondered if he actually remembers it or if it's some imagined placed based off Elysium and the surface before it was snowed over. (Thanatos also questions if he remembers the surface without snow or has been confusing it with Elysium.)

"Does everyone end up there regardless of who they were in life?"

"I think so?" ...he's pretty sure, but at the same time, what if that isn't the case? It's not a question Tidus was expecting, and he has to ask: "Where else would they go?"

Other than the place where dead people go?

"There are three places people go in my world depending how the lived in life." There would be less parchmentwork and work in general if they all went to the same place, but then shades who lived good, honest lives would have to share a space with the some of the most wretched of shades.

"Heroes and greats go to Elysium. The worst get their eternal punishment in Tartarus. Most everyone else goes to Asphodel."

Wow. That sounds..like a lot more work. Or really, there's an implication there with the 'the worst get punishment' angle, which, if they're getting punished, then-

"Wait, so people don't just stop living when they die?" Er. "They're like...dead, but still aware of everything? Just in another place?"

This is this guy's world, but still! That's a whole lot more than Tidus has ever gotten to hear about the afterlife.

"Yes. They lack the bodies of mortals, but they talk, move around, play music, fight, drink, be punished by the Erinyes for their crimes.... Some shades find work at the House of Hades or wait for Lord Hades to hear their case in court. Others prefer just to exist."

So the need to have records and bring people to the right location is important. There is a lot of work.

"Huh... I wonder if it's like that back home."

His gaze drops away with the thought muttered. There was nothing to see in the Farplane of the people gone, and not everyone believed there was anything but images. Nothing but memories.

"You can see the Farplane from this small platform," he says after a moment. "That's how I know what it looks like; people go there to see those who moved on, but it's just a memory, floating there. You can't speak to them- I mean, you can, but they don't speak back."

He remembers his mother - her image, clearer than he's seen it in ages, even when it was faint and transparent.

"...it'd be nice, if they got that," he decides. "A lot of people died in my world...suddenly." To put it simply. "Even if it means the creeps are there - at least in Spira, they can't do anything once they're Sent. When you're gone, you're gone."

"The dead can be spoken to. It involves a long, dangerous process, and there have been those who entered the Underworld to do so. I would not recommend either." The Underworld's motto is "There is no escape," and it does everything it can to keep the shades and the wretches from finding their way to the surface.

For a lot of people to die all at once, Death would be very busy indeed. It's what Thanatos might face when he goes home, after death having ceased the entire time. "It must be crowded, your Farplane."

"Mmm," he nose wrinkles, remembering, "There was something that happened...about two years ago? Or uh, the present for me. A friend showed on the train from my future," he explains. So, their two years ago.

Anyway- "She did a big Sending that's made people visiting the Farplane impossible since. But it's a good thing!" A really good thing. "But, I guess that means it's crowded? But for a place that's inside an underground city, it looks like outside in there. There was a moon or something in there too!"

So, is it really overcrowded? ...it's hard to imagine a place you can't see anyone in overcrowded.

Thanatos merely nods. It's not strange for Thanatos to think of a place looking like the outside--the surface--underground. That is Elysium. That was Asphodel. And the living should not visit the dead. They are of different worlds only to meet again once the living have passed. The Farplane sounds to be as it should be. (From a Hades Underworld perspective at least.)

They are close to the door leading to hallway. The door closes behind them, Thanatos doesn't even announce that he's going to shift to the kitchen. He just does, leaving Tidus behind to catch up with the transgate. He doesn't care about manners. He cares about doing the job.

Tidus has eyes, so he can see the guy leave. Whether he does that with the transgate himself or not, Tidus is no newcomer to transport machines, so following after with that doesn't more than a moment for him to appear with the blue colouration into the stores.

And out he comes, into the lower kitchen with its rows of sinks. And if this God of Death is actually in here for cleaning, then that's where he'd be.

"So, why's a guy who does stuff with death big into helping out with the sleepover? You close with Della?"

Tidus will indeed find Thanatos at the sinks in the kitchen. (What else is he going to do with a tray of empty cocoa mugs and plates with crumbs on them?) The dirty dishes are stacked to one side, and he meticulously cleans each item one at a time until they are spotless.

"I am doing what I can to support the passengers needing to recover from the mission, and Della cares for many. The fewer tasks they have to worry about the better."

"Well, I won't stop you helping out-" if the guy is that willing and all; not a lot are in that state to be, and he and Della can do with the extra hands, "--but still, Della'll want you to take some time too in there. I'll take those two trays," he adds coming over, to pinch them. Needs some to take the drinks on!

But he'll need to wipe them to dry them too.

"Even if you don't feel exhaustion or whatever! Check on the friends you do have. That's good support too."

Thanatos nods his head, but he has no intention of going to check on them beyond asking if they need anything. Crossing paths with his friends after the mission haven't gone well. He only caused them more distress. If he were to help them, then he needed to be elsewhere and support them less directly. It's fine. The only favor Death can give is to stay away, after all.

"I will return to the gym once I have finished cleaning and drying these." By then, there should be more dishes to take since Tidus is going to handle bringing more drinks.
