[video] Merriment 2
[Lea appears on the network, smiling a bit.]
OK, since Xion got me a surprise gift yesterday, I think I should make a little PSA.
[He holds up a gray rat with a few small white spots so the camera and thus those watching can see it.]
This is Smoke, the familiar I was given in the last world I was in. And aside from anything magical, that means that he's basically my pet.
So all you science types on board? That means this little guy is off limits as a potential experiment. And for all the cats and other creatures on board who might normally eat rats? That means he's also not a potential meal. Got it memorized?
Everyone else shouldn't have anything to worry about with him though; he's pretty well behaved, as rats go. And I'll try to make sure he stays out from underfoot, metaphorically and literally. Just... don't freak out if you see him peeking out of my pocket now and then, OK?

[Is she judging? Disinterested? It can be hard to tell with Sharon, especially since she's still smiling.]
Well, thanks for the heads up. I suppose I'll be seeing Smoke quite often.
Re: Video
[In spite of his efforts not to.]
And yeah, you probably will. His cage isn't that big, so hopefully it won't make things too cramped, but if it does, I'll try and figure something out.
Re: Video
[Vermouth can be doubtful, but she's seen enough Pokemon creatures by now to at least acknowledge some of the pets here are... unusual.]
I'm sure you'll take care of it. Should I expect squeaking through the night?
Re: Video
And nah he's usually pretty quiet, actually. He only usually squeaks very much if someone grabs him unexpectedly or if one of the dormitory ghosts rattled his cage.
[Yeah, the train may be cramped, but at least their rooms aren't haunted.]
Re: Video
[Why does the train subject her to this nonsense constantly? Sharon sighs but still speaks evenly.]
So he is fairly normal, most likely, but your last place was not.
Re: Video
[And yet, living there had been the closest thing to a normal life he'd had since he was a kid.]
Re: Video
[There is humor in her tone, but seriously. Why must reality keep breaking around her.]
Diatu... It was a school, I wager? [Going off the dormatories]
Re: Video
That a rhetorical question, or do you want a list?
And yep. A magic school, to be exact. Everyone who got pulled to that world ended up there, even if they were an adult. Thanks to an icky side-effect of that world's brand of magic, no one really had a choice but to go back to school.
Re: Video
[Please don't torment her with all the ways life can be not normal. 'Sharon' thought she had enough of that in her own career, if you can call it that, but others here keep raising the bar.]
Plenty of adults go back to school. Although I must admit, it does not sound like this academy would fall under higher education.
So you were forced to attend through magic, in order to learn...? [Don't you say it. She can see where this is going, and she doesn't like it.]
[...
Or do, because that's more fun.]Re: Video
[He's learned not to assume much of anything, OK?]
And yeah, I know adults go to school too, though they usually do it willingly. And... not quite like this. It was less that anyone actively forced us to attend, and more that if we didn't learn how to use and control that world's magic, the magic energy that everyone who was brought there had in them would backfire and kill them in a very icky and painful way. So given the choice between 'learning magic' or 'painful death'... yeah, no much choice there.
Re: Video
I suppose that is one way to guarantee attendance. Though I must admit, it seems rather odd to put in the effort for a mass kidnapping only to kill the students later.
[Not to say she hasn't been part of kidnappings specifically for murder, but that was on an individual basis and had a more concrete goal.]
