Hah, talismans are one way, and what I'd do here—you could set them up directly on the ground, with particular objects, engraved in living trees, or short term ones in even more creative ways I wouldn't recommend!

( those ways largely involve blood, and in his case, his own blood, so. you know. not a great plan? in fact a terrible one. )

Either way, yes, it'd be for assessing directions of movement and environment illusions, navigating out of one that's keeping you turned around and detecting when something's using that illusion to disguise their movements.

( the fact birds and chains have been part of this equation before should explain approximately nothing and everything at once. )

Hey, someone needs to help test if what I set up is even effective, I'd appreciate the insight!
