( He starts with his hand falling away from the ICP, and then Wei Wuxian lifts them both, cupping them to bow to the screen; polite, but not overly so. He's in one of the carriages' open spaces rather than any closed and quieter room. )
Hello, Trainlings! On the subject of training, ignoring the Express part, and sadly lacking any Void technical backup, who else has experience with or abilities in generating illusions, or confusion arrays, anything that fools senses into believing something is there that isn't—in dreams or waking, I suppose.
( He waves a hand, smiling at the screen. )
Brief as our time at the Undersea Monastery was, our quiet monks provided a dip into things we can try to keep working with here: meditation and illusion breakaways. There's a few from my close-to-home world who have skills in either and are willing offer training for those interested, and I'm looking for other perspectives and talents to do the same. We may not be Void powered, but there are patterns enough to keep training people to recognise.
( This is followed by a pause, and his eyes drifting upward, before he clears his throat and, with another grin that's a bit less sincere, adds: )
Also, with the, ah, animal populations on board. Exactly how many dogs or other dog-like animals are on train? And do you have any set, er, schedules or. Places. Where you let them free.

( His brows quirk up at the shift in research, so to speak, his own interest piqued. )
Necromancy? Seems like a shift in topics. What variety of necromancy? Did anything come up?

Problem is that I can't use the normal forms of magic this train has for healing. It's hurt more than helped. So I need to figure out ways for someone between alive and dead to make a quick recovery.
And I need to expand my reach. [Right now it's a very specific sort of undead he can control. He wants to increase that reach, strengthen that connection.]

( Skipping past the possessions, as he's not... particularly... the one who cared to have anything to do with that. He was more into unpossessing people. )
Right, so you're running into an issue with having... tissue that's already died, ah? Something like that? You can't be healed because your body no longer functions like the living?
no subject
But hell, if it gives me a better insight into what I am and what I'm connected to, I'm wanting to learn more about it.
[Magic isn't so much of a thing where he's from, but he's managed to drop himself into the rule of 'undead doesn't like certain types of life-based magic' which is balls, thank you. He hates it.]
I'm a zombie. Well, a sort of hyper-advanced zombie.

( It's just a bit of a ??? to him for having no equivalent and not getting what this word means. )
Sounds something like the puppets we've had to deal with back home, but none of them ever truly died.

[Okay, right.]
So, no heartbeat. They rot but slower than normal corpses. When they're fresh they can run. Very aggressive towards the living, tend to crave brains. If they're a 'talker' they stay pretty intelligent as long as they have a brain to eat.
Everyone sees them as former people, but they're not that. When you die, you keep things about yourself, buried under the aggression. I can feel it coming off them, hear these little tiny simple thoughts about what they still want.
[Talking about the undead tends to quell the catty bitch in him because the empathy he has with them is so incredibly strong. He's a reciprocal kind of psychic. What harms them harms him, he feels their pain as well as those little faint ideas.]

Not a puppet, then. How does anything circulate? Either fluids, or spiritual qi... if that's a concept you also have?
( None of what he says is a match to his own world, but at this point, two months and more in to this journey, he's not surprised. Mostly fascinated. )
Mm, we don't have bodied dead, but spirits that stay—each has a different level of memory or emotional strength, usually aimed toward what it is keeping them from passing on toward reincarnation. You can hear those ones, if you're sensitive to them.
( which generally speaking, cultivators were, but normal untrained people could be as well. He wonders at how different it is for a bodied dead, and for this person in particular. )
What about the brain makes it desirable? I almost wonder if you would be absorbing its essence just through a crude, straightforward fashion...
no subject
Pretty sure we do have that concept but I only know one guy that'd be nearly able to utilize it. [Because Murphy likes maybe two people in his world, and one of those people is 'Doc', the best-natured hippy one could ever meet.] But if we get the chance to go back, I wanna go back with every tool in my arsenal.
[If that means learning about qi? He'll absolutely do it.]
It's a viral thing having to do with Lithium Ions. Insert virology exposition here complete with dramatic demonstration involving fruit or something. [He says that while waving his hand dismissively. He could actually explain it, he ate the brain of the asshole who helped develop it, but honestly it's just annoying unless he's actually making something.]
I know if I eat one with knowledge and I eat it slowly, I can absorb what it knows. ...I mostly just ate zombie brains back home and the train provides me with some here. Some kind of tofu brain I don't know. No knowledge or anything in them but it hits the spot.
no subject
Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky, be sent home soon, ah?
( Is it luck, though? Is it really? None of the process is even close to transparent. )
Mm, so the train provides you with specialised care... kind of the force behind it all. I can't say that directly absorbing something doesn't make sense in certain ways, but I admit my bias is to thinking it's more to do with what is absorbed in the spirit instead of the body. Not to say this changes anything in the end result, nor that I care to... investigate too much into the oddity.

[What a generous guy he is, right? Offering a bit of weird trainbrain.]
I'll see if this book I am getting on necromancy has anything interesting in it. I should really look into the cultivation thing, too.
What do the dead sound like to you, by the way?
no subject
Sure, I'm curious! ALso about your book if you find anything interesting. Cultivation... well, standard cultivation is a lot of self refinement, meditation, things of that nature. What I do isn't only that, but relies on that base for steadiness and control.
( Waving his hand like it's no big thing, despite the fact it is, in fact, important. )
Oh, you know. Most of those I deal with are shouting or screaming based on what it was they died like, or what resentments they held onto. Bodied dead don't... exactly have the same sound, to me? It'd be possessions which could, and even that depends on the possessing ghost. Some I'd have to be in physical contact to 'hear.'
( Anyone not overflowing with resentful energies, at the minimum. )
no subject
Usually the dead just have small thoughts. I don't hear as clearly as my daughter could. But when I could they weren't particularly malicious. At least, not towards me, maybe to people around us.
So would I count as 'bodied dead'?
no subject
no subject
So maybe you might be able to hear me if I used my powers. What I use to usually talk to other undead.
no subject
( ... though in truth he likely would, which is a whole other weirdness since it's not as common for living-ish creatures in his world to communicate that way. )
no subject
[He's getting better off the train, though. Range and focus are definitely improving.]
